OK, so this is TOTALLY OFF TOPIC, but we're all FRIENDS and COOL with this, RIGHT?
I'm going to see DH very soon, so in preparation I thought that I might deserve some personal grooming, especially since we are going off to a warm climate in the next few weeks. The only esthetician appointment I could get was for today. I book myself in for a serious pedicure plus some waxing. What the heck. So I get my pedi, and love it. Get my pits/half-leg and eyebrows waxed. No biggie. The BIGGIE was that I asked for a bikini wax. I THOUGHT this meant that they just tidied up around your legs so that if your suit slipped a bit, you would look neater. WELL. I said BIKINI, and I GUESS that means BRAZILLIAN in esthetician terms. I had NO idea what that was before we started. So I'm lying there, and I'm feeling this hot wax, and I'm thinking "what the **** is THAT WAX doing down THERE?????" The next thing I knew was --- RIP ---. O.M.G. I had absolutely NO IDEA that this was going to happen! And after the first ---RIP---, I had to get the full monty done else I be lopsided. And there is NO WAY this chickie is taking a razor down there. I still don't know what to think... Maya :) |
Hey Maya!
I was worried about you!!! LOL. You got a brazilian wax?!! By accident? Well i am sorry... I do this in the summer and it DOES hurt.. But after, you feel so good ;). There is a difference between Bikini and brazilian... I am surprised she did not ask you... But oh well... That will be a nice surprise for your DH! I am still 100% on plan... Today is Day 9 for me... Can't wait to reach the Onederland... Hopefully sometime this week ;) Florence |
:o
I'm going to be off-line for the next 3 weeks or so because of the HOUSE RENO FROM **** (phones will be down) plus vacation -- Hang in there, everyone, and I'll check in again when things are back online! Maya :) |
You can't sneak away so quickly! Get back here...
That is funny, you poor thing! I think you'll have to go back in 3 weeks. I am not sure which my Dh would be more shocked at, the weight loss or the wax. does you DH know you have lost weight while he has been gone? What fun to see him again soon. Is it normal to worry about what you can't eat as soon as you order the food? I think waiting for it to arrive is hard! I can't remember which one of you suggested the pearls to keep things moving. I can't take things like Benefiber, it has the opposite effect on me. When I tried Atkins I got into trouble so I want to avoid that this time. The new yogurt is great but we can't have it on plan. Anyway, everyone is all a twitter because the packers won. it's going to be a long week waiting for the next game. i think if brett favre were running for president in wisconsin, he'd win! I am one of the few not dressed in green and gold today. |
I like the blueberry oatmeal a lot, actually. I did add a packet of Splenda because it didn't seem sweet enough to me. I wish they had a banana oatmeal because preMF I really liked the banana bread Weight Control oatmeal. I don't much like apple cinnamon or maple and brown sugar. I'm thinking about the peach, but I'm not usually crazy about that either. I did let it set for a couple of hours before even putting it in the microwave.
I weighed this morning and I was down another .8. I know - I know, I should *not* be weighing every day. I'm just going to do it until Monday then after my first week weigh-in I'm going to put up the scales for a week. I promise! Cross my heart! The pearls are definitely working. I did have a link for them somewhere, but the only place I can find them here is WalMart. I found a link for the pearls on the GNC website but I know that WalMart is cheaper. Here it is so you know what the box looks like http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2211679 . As for the waxing...ummmm....your husband may like it so much that you will have to do it regularly...but if waxing is not your thing, razors do work pretty well...;) |
My walmart didn't have them so i ordered from Amazon.
I don't think my order will be here until ƒriday!! :( |
Hi All,
Maya! I hope that you can stop by the local internet cafe and check in with us, once in a while. We will all be waiting to hear the DH reaction to your new bod. It seems that everyone here are working daylights with weekends off. Am I the only Night shifter here? I seem to have no trouble staying OP on my work days, but when the days off come, and I am fated with the difficult decision to either try to transition to sleeping nights on my weekend or staying on the night shift on my days off. Sometimes I stay up almost 24 hours so I get all in disarray about what to eat on such days. I ended up at the salad bar restaurant with DH last weekend, and went off plan. So that is my difficulty this week and water consumption still remains a problem. I like the tomato soup! Please PM me if you want to trade, I have 5 packets on Chicken Noodle that I cannot stomach, and 6 packets of Beef Stew that I hate even more. Someone send the willpower dust this way south... As ever, Fab50TX |
Weigh-in day and I lost 3 pounds this week. Of course, in celebration of the loss I took a flying leap off the wagon and landed in a bakery this morning. Didn't enjoy it half as much as I thought I would!
Maya, you are a riot. I can't imagine how much that hurt, esp. since you weren't prepared. I go the razor route myself, battery and regular, although I wish I had the nerve to get a brazilian! |
Weigh In
My weigh in is a bit disappointing. I thought I was doing wonderfully but Thursday, when I actually ate Swedish meatballs (minus the balls) and rolls..and chocolate cookies...and....ok that was it, I've only lost 1 pound this week. I do not think it was worth it at and I will definitely remember this feeling the next time I want bread. Today is a new day though and I am ready for the next week!

Hello Everyone
Helly everyone, I am day 9 on MF and have lost 5 lbs. It is a little discouraging when I see so many higher numbers, but I know my body is adjusting.
I have read all these posts and you all seem like a fun bunch! One question, what or who is DH (Dear Husband?) :?:Anyone experience blurred vision? And any other advice to speed the weight loss? I am 100% on plan. Went out with people to a Mexican restaurant last night, I avoided the chips and salsa, no cheese, no tortillas, just plain shrimp and veggies. That was an achievement for me! |
Sounds like everyone is doing great! Just follow the program 100%, drink your water, get some exercise if you can and be patient :^: That seems to be the hardest part but it will work for you and you will feel terrific!
Maya - Have fun, take care - can't wait to hear your news :D Vebevens - Terrific job - especially at the Mexican restaurant! And yes - DH - dear husband! Flo - Waiting for your good news about onderland :D Waving Hi to everyone - have a great day and stay POP (perfect on plan!) |
OK, ladies. I've been following your discussions from thread to thread for the past few weeks, and I'm finally ready to join you. Actually, I received my MF-ing food a couple of weeks ago but got sick and just couldn't face the thought of feeling blah -and- deprived at the same time! So tomorrow is Day 1 for me.
I have, like many of you, fought myself my whole life over food and my weight. I always seem to do best on programs with a lot of structure, so Medifast seems like a good fit for me on that score. I also have some limiting issues as a result of disability that make it difficult to lose weight without severely restricting calories (hard to do while eating "real" food). Anyway, thanks to y'all for helping me to get to this point. Your progress (and pitfalls) make me feel much less alone, and I'll be back regularly. For now, I'm off to fill my ziplocs! |
Indykel, welcome. Set up your ticker and add your starting date. You are going to be amazed.
For those wondering: avoid the bars if there is a weight slow down. This is a public service announcement. The bars were fine for me, oh, say fifty pounds ago. But now, they really make a huge difference in the speed of weight loss. Since I plan to be starting maintenance and transition by the end of March or early April at the latest I really want to lose the next 30 pounds quickly. So having spent almost a month using bars has slowed me way down. Of course, some folks may think 2 pounds a week is a respectable rate of loss, and it is. It may have helped me survive the holidays and get over shake boredom to have some good bars for a while. But I want to get the last fat off so that I can start thinking about how to live the rest of my life. |
Bars
That's interesting about the bars, I did notice they are more calories.
I look forward to those everyday! I will try to go without a couple of days and see if that makes a difference. |
Hey hey hey!!!
I FINALLY broke through my stinkin plateau!! Yay! Honestly, I believe with my whole heart that I spiked my metabolism by eating off plan. Anyway, things are good in Michelleville today.... Tomorrow I start working out - just a minimum (10 minutes) and adding 1 minute per day. That way I can get used to getting up early and exercising. I like to exercise, so I'm excited! http://www.presidentschallenge.org/ Here's a link to the President's Challenge site. You log your workouts and "win" medals through points. If you don't have a magic bullet, march out and buy one immediately! I promise it is SO worth it. Hugs to all, |
What is magic about the magic bullet? Is it for away from home or do you use it at home? What do those of you who work do at work?
Vbevens, that is great! Any more would be all water. Welcome Indykel, sorry about the Colts. My brother lives in Indy Congrats on busting through the plateau Michelle, they are frustrating. Letting, we ordered a bar for every day. Are they more calories or carbs? Flo, how exciting! I can't wait for onderland! Hi to everyone else! So glad you are all here for support! Our order should be here on friday. Thanks! |

Maya: All I can say is:yikes: Jen: My weight watchers leader says "It's not failure, it's feedback." So, ya got some feedback. You'll do great this week! Indykel: :welcome2: I think you are going to love this program! I find it very easy to follow. For the first time in a long time I actually looked forward to weighing in at WW. A friend of mine said she couldn't believe I was still paying WW and doing medifast. I told her it's a piece of the puzzle for me. I'm just trying to do what works so I can finally let this weight go! WW provides a lot of emotional support as does this forum! Thank you ladies! :grouphug: |
Congratulation on the weight loss Andrea! Our results are pretty similar even though i am way heavier than you... ;) Hopefully i will reach your current weight in a few weeks :D
Glad to see we are all doing OK! Welcome to the new girls! We are a very friendly group... Come join our MF family!!! I am gonna miss Maya... Let's keep on posting our results... It keeps me motivated!!! Oh I almost forgot... Today i went shopping at BITTEN, the store from the girl from SEX In the City... Her clothes are great (they go to size 22) and really cheap. They usually are less than $20, but they are having a clearance sale for $8.99 any item (coat, jacket, jeans,dress...) I got one jean, one kaki pants, 4 shirts and a sexy jean jacket for less than $50... And yes, I am now a size smaller... You all should see if you have her store in your area... especially since we are all losing weight so fast and need new clothes all the time!!! http://www.bittensjp.com Enjoy! Florence |
Welcome IndyKel - this is a great group and you will do terrific!
Florence - What a great time shopping!! Michelle - Woo Hoo!!! Andrea - Sending losing vibes for your weighin - you are doing great! Hope you are all having a great evening!! |
Originally Posted by : Sweet P: Thanks for the good weigh in vibes! It's so much more fun to get on that scale when it's going down! :woohoo: |
Hey everyone! Thanks for the congrats!
SweetP - my gosh!! You are killing! When did you start? Have you lost it all on MF? Brooke, A magic bullet is a blender of sorts. Each individual cup attaches to the chopper thingee so you don't have to wash the whole thing. Everything detaches. Yes, you can bring it to work, but I don't. I mix everything up in the morning and bring it with me to work. I keep everything in my mini fridge. Do you know those plastic containers that fit on a round spinner with the covers? These are PERFECT for shakes and soups. You can find them at Walmart. As far as the bars go, as long as you're between 80 and 100 carbs you can eat them. My carbs are always below 80, so I don't worry about it. During my plateau, I tried drinking only shakes, upping my calories, lowering calories, etc... I'll consider the bars later on; right now I need them for my sanity! Just my 2 cents... |
Well, I guess the four pound gain was a fluke because now I'm down 6 pounds in one week! I think some of it is excess water weight because I've been working out pretty intensly, but I'm so happy and motivated! Thank you for your support...it's great knowing that other people out there are doing this and going through the same thing I am. And...my cravings are completly gone, which is a miracle. I have not had a piece of chocolate in a week, and I don't think I've gone that long without chocolate since I've had teeth! Thanks again!
|
Michelle - Yes all on Medifast - and I started the day after Thanksgiving :dizzy:..and still have a long way to go :( I am still OK with the bars too.
Shell - You are doing great! Waving Hi to everyone out there and will check back a little later  |

By then there had better be a significant drop or I don't know what I'll do! :?: Sorry to be a bummer...I'm just so frustrated right now. I really needed to read your post ShellESQ! :thanks: |
Me again....
I was going to delete my previous post 'cuz I sound like such a whiner! But then I thought, no, I'm going to leave it because there are ups and downs and for me this is a down....hopefully there is an 'up' right around the corner and then I will look back at this and say, "See...hang in there!" Ramblings from a woman hanging on for dear life! I am putting my scale in the garage until Friday! Hope everyone else is having a great day! Thanks for listening. |
Andrea,
Girl I lost 7 pounds in 3 days and then STAYED there for two weeks! We women have hormones and fluid issues. Are you working out, adding too much salt? Are you strictly on program and not adding "just a little of this or that?" Are you eating enough? Is it that time? Are you on meds that interfere with weight loss? If all the answers are NO, then it's just your body playing with your mind. I was convinced that this plan would NOT work for me. But I think everyone worries about that. Well everyone but SweetP....but I digress. It WILL work. DON"T give up. YOU are doing a wonderful job. STAY off the scale. Do I stay off the scale? Oh **** no; I have an addiction. But YOU need to stay off the scale. Kisses, |
newby
Hi, I've been loving reading all of your posts, I combed through them yesterday and today I ordered my "stuff". I've gained a lot of weight for me and I'm so uncomfortable, which just depresses me, which makes me want to eat more. What's worse is I'm going to be 50 in a few months and losing is just not as easy as it used to be.
You are all an inspiration, although the last entry scares me a bit. I'm so into instant gratification and I too will run for the scale every day looking for that loss. If it doesn't happen I'll be depressed again. I'm a mess....:dizzy: Anyway, one of my concerns is that years ago I did Atkins and after 6 weeks of total adherence I did not lose more than 6 pounds. This sounds much like the low carb diet that didn't work for me. Does anyone have any feedback on that? Sorry to jump in on all of you, I'm not even sure it's appropriate to do so, just let me know if this was rude. Otherwise, I'll continue to read and be inspired. Thanks and much success to all of you!!! |
Hi everyone! Well I weighed this morning and down again, so I am happy.
Can anyone tell me how to update my ticker? I am so glad I found this site. I find with more energy now and not spending time eating and preparing food I have a lot of extra time. I hang out on the computer because it's safer than TV and food commercials. However I have to say I am no longer starving! This is amazing. My problem is eating out of habit, hungry or not. I go on a cruise in about 6 weeks and my goal is to lose 25 pounds before that! Hopefully I won't put it all back on by eating on the cruise!:dizzy: |
Welcome Happyhiker! Let us know if we can help you in any way... I am still a newbie compared to others... Only 12 days down for me...
I am still 100% on plan... Still no craving... my mind was playing tricks on me today... It made me feel like i wanted bad food... But i was not hungry and I am not gonna sabotage my effort for 30 sec of chewing... No Thanks! I loved that feeling of fitting in a size smaller and looking good in these jeans much better. My students complimented me today... It felt good to know that they were noticing that i was losing weight and saying that they were proud of me... I know, I know, I have only lost 6 pds... but it is a great progress... I am trying to stay off the scale so that i do not stress too much over reaching the Onederland! I know that it will happen by Friday at my next weigh in... I am SO close now... I can taste it. Talking about tasting something... I just made my Wendy's like Ice cream with Vanilla pudding and topped it with Sugar Free Caramel topping. Yummi! I just had me an On Plan Sunday! Delicious! It was well worth resisting all the temptations :) |

Happy Hiker -
I too did Atkins, but I lost quite a bit of weight with it. This program only puts you in a mild state of ketosis combined with low-calorie and low-fat eating. There's the difference. There's a lot of science behind this, although nobody could eat like this forever. That said, I, also being a scale 'ho' lost 7.4 pounds this week *and* I am on my period. I feel pretty darn good. My Bella Cucina Magic Rocket (31.99 shipping and all) arrives tomorrow according to UPS. I'm kind of excited about that. I also decided that I look forward to the bars and I'll at least finish out the month with them... The only thing I'm not looking forward to is going to work today....;) |
Hey Ladies!
I guess it is my time for the scale not to move... I am still at 201.2. I have been at that weight for almost 3 days now... Reaching Onederland is a tease... LOL I hope it goes down... I am still 100% on Plan and plan on staying that way! I am thinking about starting exercising Thursday... Florence |
Thanks, chickies, for all the warm welcomes. It means a lot, and I definitely feel a little less nutty about what my dad calls my "envelope diet" knowing I'm not alone!
I ended up not starting the diet until today because...well, yesterday was just a crap day, and I couldn't face it. I'm good to go today, though, and SO proud because I got through my oatmeal without as much as one gag. WHO-HOOO! Boy, do I remember being a scale slave--couldn't go to work until I stepped on and determined what kind of day it was going to be. That's a hard nut for OCD's like me to crack. These days I have the opposite problem: the only way to weigh myself is if I make an appointment at the rehab hospital, have someone push me onto the wheelchair scale, then transfer me out of my chair, then get my empty chair weighed and subtract its mass from the total. It's such a production that I just don't bother. Long story short (too late, Kel), I have to judge my weight by how clothes fit me and how my butt fits into my chair--and right now both measures are too freakin' tight. Re: the magic bullet--we have one of those immersible stick blenders that I'm going to try before spending any more money. I do love those magic bullet infomercials, though! Well, enough babbling. I'm off to drink my first shake. Stay strong--and stay off the flingin'-flangin' scales!! (Oh, and brookelizabeth...thanks for your condolences. Sunday was a dark day around here.) |

My first order shipped yesterday!! I also ordered oatmeal because I forgot to with my initial order. Apple/cinnamon and blueberry even though peach oatmeal is my favorite. I have read too many people talking about the bad peach oatmeal! I also ordered eggs to use for baking things.
I am nervous but excited!! :o |
Thanks for welcoming me. Again, you're all an inspireation. Still waiting, feels like a lifetime, for my order to arrive. But you're all putting me in that place reading your posts.
You know, I hear so many people talk about not getting on the scale daily, but when I don't I get in trouble. I've also heard medical people saying it's good to weigh yourself daily. The downside, I suppose, is when you don't see movement and you're like me and need instant gratification. So, when I listen to all of you with your big immediate loss it's incredibly motivating. I think it's just important to remember that initial loss and hold on to that feeling and know that, although it may take another big push on our part to make that jump, we've done it before and we'll do it again, no? It's all about not giving up and I have to contantly remind myself of that. So, again, I thank you for your inspiration. I'm going to continue to read through the forum for how to really work the program, because I'm not 100% sure. Any feedback on how you make it through each day would be great. I'm a bit of a partyer, so giving up Alcohol is kind of overwhelming for me. Has everyone sworn off of a cocktail? Thanks again and contrats to you all!!!:carrot: |
SweetP,
It was a compliment. Explaining a joke makes me feel like a nerd.... You, SweetP, probably have never worried that this diet won't work for you because you are losing weight AMAZINGLY well and FAST. My hilarious sarcasm doesn't translate well on email. Love ya Sweet!!! Happy, I tried Atkins a few years ago. I lost a few pounds and then nothing... It turns out that eating as much as you want is NOT a challenge! I ate about a billion calories a day and couldn't lose weight. The good news is that this has controlled portions; it's tough to mess up. Flo, Oh no!! Was today your weigh in day or are you jumping on the scale when you're not supposed to?? Stay the course girlie - you know it's working! Brooke, Peach.....yuck. |
Thanks Michelle! It hasn't been all that easy - just trying to make it work.
Wishing you all a good evening and sweet dreams  Edited - I wrote some personsl stuff but came back and edited it out - I realized it was TMI about what has been going on in my life these last few months - I think some know already. Just to say it hasn't been easy - I have good days and bad days and feel right on the edge most days :dizzy: |
