Hi, Everyone! Great work! :grouphug:
Even though it is challenging, we are all giving ourselves a wonderful gift.

This morning I weighed-in for the completion of my 8th MF-ing Week. Eight weeks ago I weighed 189.
Today: 162. :woohoo:

I've been doing a little shopping, too, Maya. Some size 10s some 12s, but all in the misses department. I am enjoying the mirrors.

When I went to in-service at school on Monday, everyone (really) commented that I looked great. That felt amazing. :encore:

I have received my Walden Farms products from Netrition, but have yet to try anything. Since I got back home late Sunday night, I haven't even taken time to go to the store--so I have been lean and greening with frozen stuff. I'm thinking tonight would be a great night to go out to a hip place and order a gorgeous salad and add my own dressing. Mmmm...dining out. :hun:
I haven't in a long time.

This works and it is really, really worth the effort. We can all make it happen! :cheer2::cheer::cheer2:

Later,
Carol

I am so happy with Ruthxxx for giving us a weekly thread. And a forum. What a huge difference this makes in terms of support.

Look at this amazing progress! I am so proud of all of us.

fell off the wagon

Well, I made it 15 days OP without slipping up. But today, I went to the gym at lunch, did my 30 min on the elliptical - and when I walked out to the parking lot I felt as if my legs were going to buckle on me. My energy levels have completely bottomed out and I feel as if I'm literally starving my muscle tissue on MF.
I was driving back to work and saw a brightly colored drive thru sign I normally ignore. I don't even l-i-k-e this place. But like a sci-fi tractor beam it pulled me in. I ate like a wild dingo. I'll keep the pornographic elements of my feast to myself.
Sigh. I feel sick already.
I was also very discouraged today because the scale hasn't moved in days, and neither have I if ya know what I mean. I read all the previous advice on fiber tablets. I have been doing sugar free metamucil to no avail. I added glucomannan. Doubled my water and still nothing. Drank that evil senna tea and nothing.
I think I'm gonna go have my highlights touched up. Maybe that'll cheer me up.:(

freiamaya 01-09-2008 06:11 PM

Its absolutely OK. Just get back on the MFing wagon, that's all. As for "movement", SERIOUSLY, buy some psyllium husk fiber. Dose yourself in the am, lunch and before bed for 3 days. Trust me, you'll start moving.
The other weird thing I found is that when I was OFF PLAN at Christmas, for the first few days, BOY did things move along. Maybe your Fast Food adventure will get things moving along!
Chin up!
Maya
:)

Y'all, I have to say...I take the Pearls. I can't remember who I told about them, but I use acidophilus Pearls. It is the only thing that has kept me regular - MF or no MF. It's carb free and about the size of an English pea. I find them at WalMart here, but you can find them online if your WalMart doesn't have them. They really do work for irregularity, imho. :)

Floprieto 01-09-2008 10:57 PM

So far, i haven't had problem with irregularities but then again it has only been 6 days... My only real problem is gas... some foods make it a lot worst like the Cream of Chicken soup... My body seems to not like it for some reason... lol Oh well! It is in all my favorite recipes (Tuna patties, grilled cheese sandwich, biscuits)... so I guess i will just be passing gas for a while... Lol I absolutely love these recipes so i am not gonna avoid them... Anyone in the same boat?

michelle127 01-09-2008 11:04 PM

UGHGGHHG!!! You guys are silly! I was kidding!!! Ya know - that thing we do with friends??? Life is funny, laugh!

STILL NO LOSS!!!

Good night my pretties,

Ruthxxx 01-10-2008 07:59 AM

Good morning from springlike Delta! I feel I should be out there behind the barn planting peas and chard! Such weird weather but I'll take it.

No weightloss overnight - yes, I am a scale ho! Today I get a haircut so am expecting at least 5 pounds off by tomorrow. I'm taking along a cranberry/mango drink for my mid-morning snack. Very handy! I'm out of bars and am debating whether or not to re-order them. They are just too handy!

Gotta dash and tiddle up a bit for town. I wouldn't want the, to think I was from the country!

ShellESQ 01-10-2008 08:57 AM

Okay, I need some reassurance. I'm onto day four, and my weigh in day is on Thursday (today) so I weighed myself, and I've gained. I have not cheated at all (I even measure out the bbq sauce I eat with my chicken). I'm up to 174. How in the world is it possible to gain four pounds in four days when eating less than 1000 calories a day? I'm only eating one bar a day, and I've been moderately active. I'm drinking lots of water, too.
I do go to yoga classes twice per week, which are heated, so I sweat my behind off (I wish I could use that term literally...). Do you think that could cause me to retain water?
I'm so discouraged!

Floprieto 01-10-2008 09:46 AM

I am kind of confused... There has to be something wrong for you to be gaining weight... I am on day 6 and I have lost 5.2 lbs so far... Is it the bad time of the month or something? If we can't answer you, you might want to go on mymedifast.com and ask the nutritionnists there... Sorry :(

By the way, I did not know that we were allowed barbeque sauce... Was that sugar free?

Florence

ShellESQ 01-10-2008 09:54 AM

Thanks! My Take Shape For Life book says that we are allowed 1/2 teaspoon of bbq sauce as a condiment serving, so I thin it down with some water and eat it with chicken. I don't know what it can be, it's not my TOM. I'm pretty frustrated. Maybe I'll try to talk to one of the nutritionists...becuase I have been absolutely starving and thought that I would have at least lost water weight...so strange.

meowee 01-10-2008 10:08 AM

Wow, SHELLESQ . . . that is definitely the first time I've every heard that from any MF'er. Weird . . . hope you are not allergic to soy and it's causing water retention or something equally as nasty. Good luck.

Well gang . . . look at this . . . I got here two days in a row. Things are starting to slow down a bit on the work-front.

Keep things moving and shaking today everybody . . . see you later . . . :carrot:

bellabella 01-10-2008 01:16 PM

ShellESO, the same thing happens to me, weird weight gain. It's discouraging, makes me feel like geez I could binge and gain why am I suffering. BUT, it has and will drop off!! When it happens to me I make sure I am eating the leanest veggies recommended by medifast. I also don't have a legal snack. Also, if I'm not regular, I will gain 3 or 4 pounds. Stay strong, it will happen!!

bellabella 01-10-2008 01:51 PM

Carol, I just read your post. Your weight loss is fantastic and an inspiration! I can't wait to lose this extra baggage. I carried a 50 pound dog food up a flight of stairs and I thought to myself, good grief, I'm lugging this much weight every day by being overweight, no wonder my knees hurt. Sunday is weigh-in day, I'm getting nervous and trying to prepare myself just in case there is little or no weight loss.

Zeute 01-10-2008 08:22 PM

:) Hello all! I joined 3FC 3 years ago and somehow never posted! I'm trying to win some Medifast on eBay so I can

1. Try to save money. (I'm a poor second time around college student.)
2. I want to try some and see what I can tolerate!

You all have been a great inspiration!

Now, I HATE shopping in "regular people's" stores, because I just don't belong there. I can't fit anything. I see all these 24-yr-old size ZEROS out there, and the sizes only go up to 12 and sometimes 14 and rarely a 16 and if you are LUCKY, an 18. But not very often. There MIGHT be an XL there, but gosh darn it, how DEPRESSING NOT to fit an XL.
BUT, I think I'll give it a try. After all, I've lost on this diet, and how physically big can I really be at 5'7" and 172lbs.
Keep in mind, all that at one time not so long ago, I was a size 20-22 and my highest recorded weight was 243lbs.
SO, I go to Addition-Elle and check out the clothes. I feel great there, because I am now an X or 1X, I think. I try on some jeans, and start with an 18. Then a 16. Then a 14. And they don't FIT. I AM TOO SMALL.
What the...??? They don't FIT???
So I head over to a regular store, and figure, well, I'll start here at size 18 because seriously, vanity sizing DOES exist, so maybe in a regular store, I'll be back in my normal size of 18 because lets FACE it, I'm in my own mind, completely HUMONGOUS.
So, I try an 18. Then a 14. Then a 12.
THE 12 FITS. And fits NICELY.
So I push my luck.
THE 10 FITS. A bit SNUG, but I don't have to lie down on my back and suck in my gut to zip it up thus creating the world's largest muffin top! And no camel toe, either! (hahahaha!)
SO I BUY THEM. After doing my happy dance.
I then head over to pick up a dress for a warm vacation I am going on. I find a beautiful one which is one of those gauzy, floaty ones that slips on, with no zippers or anything.
Again, I try an 18. Then a 16. Then a 14. Then a 12. The 12 is fine, but these are supposed to be loose, right?
I think -- let's just push the envelope.
I try a 10. IT FITS!!! O. M. G. IT FITS!!!
So I think -- keep pushing the envelope.
I try the SMALLEST one they have in stock, which is a SIZE. 8.
THE GD THING FITS!!!! IT LOOKS NICE!!!!!
SO I BUY IT. After doing my happy dance.
WHAT. A. DAY.
And this will happen to you guys, too -- just keep at it!
Maya
:)

:D Congrats! That's so awesome!

michelle127 01-10-2008 08:49 PM

Hey guys,

I'm a sick little girl today. I feel like hurling. My TOM is SO HARSH this month. Geez, maybe the soy?? Maya, you said you were having issues - is that common for you?

Still no loss. I fell off the wagon today. I was REALLY frustrated. I haven't had a loss since day 3. I'll get back on tomorrow and wait it out like a good girl...

Welcome Zeute.

Shell - repeat after me, "Stay. Off. The. Scale!!!" I know, I know.... Our bodies don't want us to starve. Sometimes they work really efficiently. Maybe your bod REALLY wants to survive and is protecting you. Give it some time and it will work. Yes, I get the irony of counseling you to be patient....

Floprieto 01-10-2008 11:54 PM

Hey ladies!

Just checking in... It is Day 7 for me and i am glad to report that i stuck to the plan 100 %!!! Yeah! Tomorrow i will let you know my 1st week weigh in :)
Hope everyone is doing good... I feel your pain with TOM Michelle. It was me a few days ago!

Florence

Ruthxxx 01-11-2008 09:33 AM

Good going, Flo! I was not a 100 per center yesterday as I ended up having breakfast for lunch with the "lads" at the local diner. I won't post my meal because it'd be food porn.

Anyhow, back on track this morning with MF Chicken Noodle Soup for breakfast. I added some Salba which is supposed to be an incredible supplement. After all, if Oprah recommends it, it has to be a miracle!

My darn knee is giving me grief today but I'm expecting the pain killers to snap in shortly. I will do my pre-op exercises the required three times today and maybe some arm work with weights. I sure feel high-maintenance these mornings!

Placed my first order!

My daughter and I are going to do this together. She is in a wedding and wants to lose 25 by July. Then her sister is getting married in a year and I'd like to lose 75 by then.

I forgot to order oatmeal!!! :o How could I do that? I knew better than to order peach but I did want to try some because I eat steel cut oatmeal most mornings now.

I can't wait to start! For now, we are going to try to cut back on carbs so we don't get the big headache in the first few days. I have cut my calories to 1000 so it shouldn't be so bad.

We ordered shakes, bars, pudding and the package that has the hot drinks. We are heavy on the shakes. Hopefully, we'll get some oatmeal and other things to try in our free week. :dizzy:

Zeute 01-11-2008 11:05 PM

Great Job Flo!

michelle127 01-11-2008 11:38 PM

Wonderful job Flo!!

Brooke, I never did get a head ache. I was STARVING though!! You probably won't get a huge loss the first week since you will have lost some before you started. (Does that make sense?) Just don't get frustrated.

I'm still stuck at 252. Do you think the scale will move? Other than last night, I was completely, totally on program. I'm back on and doing fine. I'm going to increase my water to 125 ounces and start adding exercise. I'll start at 10 minutes and add 1 minute every day until I hit 30 minutes. Things should start moving.

Tomorrow I'm having my very stylish, beautiful friend talk to my daughter about growing up and making good choices. She works as a youth counselor in Bible Study and is very successful with kids. My girl has to make her own choices, but I need to make sure I've done everything I can to influence her to make better choices.... That way if she does something stupid, I don't have to deal with my feelings of guilt on top of whatever mess she gets herself into.

Be good,

Floprieto 01-11-2008 11:50 PM

Thank you girls for sharing my exciment! I am very happy with my loss!

Michelle: do not get discouraged.... It will move down!

Brooke: I did not have an headache either... It was a pretty smooth road once i started cooking with the Medifast food. I put a few of my favorites recipe... give them a try, they are delicious!

Florence

belleamiee 01-12-2008 12:40 AM

Help!

This is my first week on Medifast. I have been doing pretty good all week long and I really like it. But right now I am STARVING and feeling shakey. I am trying so hard to just get passed it. Ugh!!!!!!

Hi Belleamiee,
I started Medifast last Friday so this is the end of my first week, too. I have done fine and stayed on program but tonight I am feeling very hungry! So, no advice really....just wanted to say, I hear ya!
Hang in there! I've read that it will get better!

Here's a little :dust:

Ruthxxx 01-12-2008 08:01 AM

Congrats to all the MFing losers - that's a compliment, chickies!
:dust: to those of us still struggling to be 100% on plan.

abovethedin 01-12-2008 08:22 AM

Hi group,

Yesterday I blew it. I was on plan all day until I had my last meal. I ended up cooking Swedish meatballs and rolls for my family and just couldn't help myself. I ate the noodles! It was the first time off of plan since I had mashed potatoes at Christmas. Almost immediately though, after eating the bread my stomach hurt. Even this morning I woke up with a bit of uncomfortable grumbling. Has anyone else experienced that after going off plan for a meal? Now what I need to do is remember the feeling and just not do that again. Oh and I also gained a pound and a half! That one floored me. The roll and noodles were not worth that.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Keep on medifasting.

Jen

magnolia blossom 01-12-2008 09:00 AM

Well, my official weigh-in isn't until Monday morning, but so far I've lost 5.4 pounds!

:carrot:

You know, I'm not cooking a different meal for my DH and DD. They're eating what I eat if I'm cooking for dinner. It's just as healthy for them as it is for me is what I figure. Plus my husband eats out for lunch most days and my daughter eats at her preschool. They're getting lots of empty carbs during the day.

Today for breakfast I'm having oatmeal. I already had my cappuccino and I'm having blueberry oatmeal for breakfast. I'll fix my daughter oatmeal, too. Luckily she's still at the stage where she wants to eat what Mama's eating. Yesterday at school, they made homemade rolls. The smell alone just about killed me, but I made it, somehow.

Congratulations to everyone who has seen a loss this week!

brookelizabeth 01-12-2008 11:58 AM

How is the blueberry oatmeal? i have to order oatmeal on monday because i forgot to order it in my first order.

Anyone have a favorite oatmeal?

And for those of you on plan for awhile, how do you handle the hunger pangs? When do they go away? I want to prepare my daughter.

The poor thing. The bride is a size 0 and she had Meg order her bridesmaid dress from J Crew. They only go to a size 16 and we don't think it will fit. So she has real stress. She's a vegetarian and lives on carbs so this will be hard for her.

Great job everyone! keep posting your hints please. I am going to look at your info Flo, thanks.

Floprieto 01-12-2008 12:37 PM

Congratulations Magnolia!!!

Jen: i am sure most of the gain is water weight... so it will be gone soon :)

belleamiee 01-12-2008 12:58 PM

Thanks Ladies-- I woke up the morning and discovered I am down 8lbs!

3 from my prep for medifast and 5 in less than a week on the plan! I have to admit this is the motivation that keeps me on it and helps me through the hunger pains of the first week!

Andiemom 01-12-2008 02:37 PM

Ya know, I think I'm in the minority here, but I really like the oatmeal (even the peach). I got a blueberry packet with my free week and I thought it was good. I cook it on the stove, put it in the fridge for about 20 minutes while I do other stuff, then I either reheat it on the stove or in the microwave. I also add a tiny bit (1 tbsp) of fat free milk to it. I like it, but if you hate the oatmeal in general, you might not.

abovethedin 01-12-2008 03:10 PM

Brookelizabeth,

I was having a problem with my stomach growling a lot last week and I spoke to a friend of mine about it and she told me that I most likely was not drinking enough water. For me, this is true. I get tired of water.

I sure hope so. I really don't want to think that just having one "normal" meal with starch could set me that far over the edge. Anyway, today I am back on track and I am ready for the next 30 pounds!

Jen

michelle127 01-12-2008 07:27 PM

Hello all.

I like the apple and cinnamon oatmeal. I forgot to add splenda and cinnamon Friday, but it was still edible. I haven't tried the blueberry. Maybe I'll grab a box next order.

I tried my magic bullet today. Wow!! I didn't expect it to be that much better! I have nothing to report today - have a great evening.
