First full day of spring and we are iced in! I was out of the house for a short walk on the road yesterday and planned the same this morning but looks like that's a no go. DH has a Doc recheck appointment this morning and is making cancellation noises.
This broken arm stuff is annoying. Can type very slowly and barely use the mouse so am getting bored with nothing to do. May do the movie bit this afternoon with the dogs cuddled up.
Any suggestions for stuff to keep me busy? "MOM, I'm bored!"
I may start taping my autobiography but have to decide what to do about the naughty bits!
Will pop in later. Wish you chicks could come visit!
I am returning to work today after taking a day and a half off sick. I had just finished an augmentin treatment and boom I get hit with something else. This time it was accompanied with a fever of 102.8. The rest I got during the day was helpful, as you all know, you can take time off of work but you can not take time off from being a mom! Once the kids came home from school, it was time to be alert again.
Mamaj, thank God that your dd and her precious cargo did not suffer too much from the accident. And congrats on ds and having the case thrown out. My prayers are always with you through the good and the difficult.
Ruth, wish I could come over for a visit. I would love to meet the girls.
I think that I just got hit by the "bug" that's going around our community! I spent the afternoon yesterday runing to the bathroom. Woke up with body aches, upset tummy and I generally feel like #&%$!!! I've been sipping 7-Up and moving really slow. My grandchildren had it over the weekend and DD, Zoo, is getting it. Who has time for this?? I make a terrible sick person!
I come to see what all my favorite cluckers are up to and there's only three (had to change that, Tippy was posting at the same time I was) posts on the daily, at 10:30 my time? Don't you ladies know that I need to come here and read about your lives each and every day? Let's get moving, okay?
Just to get things moving, here are some possible topics of discussion:
1. Do Chickadee's beloved Rockies have a snowball's chance of making it to the playoffs this year?
2. Will Peachie's team (what's their name again?) get their butts whooped in the series again this year?
3. Is there anything more important than baseball. (Okay, so no discussion here, of course there's not!)
4. What should we do about the situation in the Middle East?
5. Which one of us gets to read Ruthie's autobiography first?
I think there's plenty here to hash out. Now get busy and post!!!
Woothie, I didn't know you broke your arm !!!! All that waving in the beauty pagents finally took its toll huh
Tip feel better, I had that bug about 3 weeks ago and it turned into a cold which I'm still coughing (the one Gracie had) OY.... Finally got antibiotics the other day cause I just couldn't fight it. Be careful its a tough strain.
Everyone, have a wonderful SPRING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! day.
OK, what a first day of spring! Whiteouts (that's blizzard where you can't see the road for all my US friends! )all over the place and I finally get inot to my biweeklyshop, come out and it's freezing rain! Saw no less than 3 cars in the ditch on the way home and trust me, I was clutching my steering wheel!!!! I'm not going out for the rest of the day--just busy getting the house in order.
I need to toot my own horn here--I went down 1 dress size!!!!!!!!! YAHOOO!!!! I have waited so long for this to happen--could it be that all the weight is finally going to go away forever??
What is it with this weather? How is it that Spring sprung and the majority of us are stuck in the cold, freezing, abyss of winter still? Seattle was blanketed by yet another little snowstorm yesterday and today is absolutely freezing!
I am sorry I wasn't here yesterday and so late this morning! My dear friend and her baby (8 weeks now) and her son (age 5) came to visit on their way to Montana from Alaska. They will be back on the 2nd for 6 or 7 days and my friend has bought us all airline tickets to go to Disneyland!!! Can you believe that? I am going to take care of the hotel and car rental, but she says that since I'm moving across the country and so far away from home and her and her family that she wants to have an opportunity to spend some time with us doing some thing new and exciting and fabulous for the kids! Bless her heart! I am very excited about 4 days in glorious, SUNNY Southern California!
Ruth, I am glad to hear that the new sling is working better for you! Sorry that you can't get as much mobility with it, but I think there's a reason for that! I wish I had a suggestion to help keep you from being bored, but I can't think of a darn thing to do that doesn't require the use of both hands!
Janice! Thank the Lord your family is ok! Car accidents are horribly scary. I totaled my mom's menopausal car (a 1999 Ford Mustang Convertible) last June and it was devasting. Thank goodness no one was hurt, except the cars! Prayers for your precious family!
So, that's about it from here this morning. I am managing to stay op and have ordered some silly supplement from QVC -- I'll give it a try and let you know the evaluation. I don't usually fall for anything on tv that has to do with dieting (except for Richard Simmons) and it'll be interesting to see if this helps!
Have a great rest of the day! I need to go find some lunch and get on with some housecleaning. Amazing what guests for two days can do!
but first, ruth, you MUST put the juicy bits in. perhaps put them on a different tape than the G rated one??
as for ideas to fight boredom, hmmm. most of the things i can come up with require two hands... except dialing a phone. reading.
well, took mom to the doctor today and she had to fast for blood work. did she EVER complain!!!! but she's doing well. the doc had no complaints. and then we went out for a late breakfast. mom ate a huge omelet and toast and home fries. i ate a scrambled egg with cheese and kept most of it down. yippee yahoo!!!
and, of course, i saw the doctor's scale and HAD to get on it. are you ready???? after losing 69 pounds in a month, i have lost only 2 in the past 3 weeks. yeah yeah yeah. i know my body is adjusting to the incredible changes of the past few weeks, but DRAT. i've been throwing up at least one of my [oh so small] meals every day for a month, and you'd THINK that would lighten the load, so to speak.
i know i have to be patient.
and, i have started the past couple of mornings by watching [and DOING] one of those morning exercise shows. you know the ones. raul leads it. everyone has perfectly sculpted bodies and can run marathons. of course i can't keep up, but at least i keep moving!!!
ok. and then mom and i did a couple of errands, and finally went to a flag store to get peachie's husband a present. oh, she knows what it is, so i can tell you all. it's a marine corps flag and we picked up a marine corps magnet to go with it. maybe he'll put it in the car???
and then, to haband to get mom some of those stretchy knit pants that she's loved for years. she was happy. and best of all, THESE FIT!!!
and now, the internet job search... sent the resume off for two new jobs, and it's time to start calling back a few folks.
but, i just wanted to check in. yesterday's daily cluck had me so heartsick for several of you, i didn't have the nerve to post something!!!
be strong. stay well. drink your water. try a protein shake...
What a great day here. Sun finally came out around 4 and then it warmed up again. The birds are singing, the bugs are crawling, and the pollen has flown straight up my nose. But, it's spring! Be happy!
Ruth, the only things I can think of that don't require 2 hands are napping, eating, and maybe petting the dogs. Sorry you're so down and out, I would love to bring dd to visit. She would make Lucy(fer) seem tame!
I'm going to the store, there is NOTHING to eat here. Ugh!! Ya'll have a great evening!
Hey! I want tickets to Disneyland and a smaller dress size too!!!! I think that is just great news for you guys!!!
Making chicken (GASP and OH MY) soup for those feeling under the weather.
Double HEY HEY to Chickadee...thought you had gone south already!!!! For you:
#1 NO (but do give your bums my very best regards!)
#2 NO (YANKEES) did you know they have a ham string problem?
#3 NO....no discussion needed, but IF (see the big IF I ever needle point...I point..."Chickadee is Right....do you think you would hang it in your kitchen? living room? Please don't say the Bathroom!"
#4Not touching this one on a public board...I watch FOX news...You can just guess my position!
#5 Raul (can he read?)
Got weighed in today. I stepped on that darn thing...blew out every ounce of hot air I have and lost .6 of a pound. THEN I got down on my knees,(oh yes I did!) and thanked God for it! Ok so maybe I needed a little devine intervention to get up! After a good loss last week I was just sure I could not hold onto it! so tra la tra la tra la!
Today is dh's birthday and his idea of a really great day is for me to entertain him in the afternoon and not spend any money...his idea of a perfect day. Well, that and the hostess, where's the cream filling cupcakes, none for me thank you!
have a great evening...and chickster...YOU look MARVELOUS IN THOSE SHORTS (They would not be perhaps Yankee pinstripe would they?)
Congratulations Peach, that is wonderful news. You are an inspiration.
I stepped in one more time just to make sure that you did not attempt to contact me and failed due to the way I registered on this site. If so, I am terribly sorry. I did not realize that the choices I made would block site members from being able to contact me. If you changed your mind, it is fine, I just wanted you to know that I did not object to receiving e-mail from you. If you still wish to write, I will check the posts again and change my "settings" (if I can figure out how).
I wish you and all the other ladies well.
I am sorry, my only excuse for not sending you a pm is that I am a slug. Ask anyone, they'll tell you...it takes me awhile!
Anyway, I did try to send you a pm this am but your settings are set so that I can not. Ruth has a "sticky" that is about releasing your e-mail to me so if you want, go thru her. (Thanks Ruth!) Just a note on my e-mail addy: When it comes to you it is in my dh's name, just like the house, the car and all the good stuff are. (I am really a girl...promise!) But! I can understand how this may be a problem for some people.
Let me know, when you get around to it...no hurry on this end!
