Arrow Tuesday, January 8th

Morning! Coffee is on!

I finally gave up on sleeping around 4:15am. Toyed with the idea of doing nothing but finally began the daily "fly" so that I won't feel so bad taking an afternoon nap.

Have decided that the only way I am going to get motivated enough to lose weight (yet again) is to get on the scale. I am not looking forward to that. So if you hear screaming from the east coast you'll know I really did it!

Susan, I love Santa and may never change him unless uncle Sam comes along. Don't tell dh, he will think I have a thing about older men!

Taking Mom to Borders books today, back in time to give the big kid his meds at lunch time and then perhaps a short nap.

Jenny, What is the scoop with Laura and the party? AND your husband collects toys and keeps them in your basement like the Chicken Man?

I hope you all have a great day.

peach

Default Mornin!

Quick check in before getting out the door. Glad to see you up early, Peach. I am thinking of sanity and balance for the day- I may not achieve it, but that's my mantra!

Hi to everyone to come, drink water, eat protein.

I'll check back tonight, have a good one

Good morning!

Peach -- You're having trouble sleeping? How awful! Have you tried any of the sleep time herbals teas. They often help although not as well as meds like Tylenol PM. How about a relaxation tape/CD? I tried Avon's "Sacred Body" CD last night. It's one of those self-hypnosis programs that affirms your self image/self worth and plays subliminal messages to help you change your habits so you'll lose weight. You're supposed to use it daily for about a week before you'll note any changes in your habits. Whatever the results, I had the best, deepest nights sleep since I was layed off on Nov. 30th. (Worked better than a "playing" with DH. Not that I'd let him know that! )

Hope you all have a nice day!

Good Morning!

Slow day for me too today that its if I really feel motivatd to clean up the basement. Mainly tidying (something I do everyday because I have a 2 year old!) and I'll get another layer of wallpaper off of another wal in the kitchen. Good news yesterday, the paper came down very easy and that's always a good sign.

Hi Peach, jdoneil, dottie and all those to come!

Oh and Jenny? Trust me, in this house it is a never ending supply of work to do so I don't know if I can make it down to help you out--I'll see if I have enough time after doing Peach's basement, OK?

Well, I guess I have now lost my Early Chick status. I still get up early but furry friends need immediate attention and I never get back to the PC right away!

Hey, Pook - to heck with Jenny! I have a sauna/storage area that I want to convert into an office/sewingroom AND I live closer! Canada First!

Had a good and nearly normal day yesterday although I did work in an afternoon nap. For those of us with the sickies, take my word for it - sleep as much as you can. That Avon relaxing tape sounds great, Joanne - hope we can get it in Canada.

Well, tonight should be different! We have been invited out to dinner and asked to bring along "the girls"! Claire and Doug are nuts about Hershey and really want to see the pup. They have a roomy old farmhouse and we will eat in the kitchen. Should be a riot - especially when "the girls" get into play fighting.

Nothing much on the agenda today - laundry and organizing some papers for 2001 taxes. I do have to get a real estate agent in Ottawa to sell my condo apartment. It has been rented for four years to a wonderful tenant but she is moving to a house. I sort of hate to sell it but there is no way I want to be an absentee landlord and can't see myself moving back to Ottawa.

Catch you later, perhaps.

Morning all!

Just checking in...and hoping everyone is fine this Tootsday.

Lots to do w/inlaws coming on Friday and kids still here. After swearing off and kicking her soundly out of my life sometime last spring, I came crawling back w/my tail tucked and signed back up w/Fly Lady yesterday (part of that New Year's thing about getting more organized) -- so I'm sitting on my rear at my 'puter in a pony tail and jeans instead of in my jammies. Hey! That's progress, right? "Slow......but......sure" is my mantra (though I really like yours too, Peach!).

Supposed to be 50 degrees today so I guess God may be telling me that it's time to take the outdoor Christmas lights (H-m-m-m, but is he REALLY sure? I'll have to think about that over another cup of coffee.). Although, I will say that I enjoy a perverse kind of fame in Tiny Town, Iowa -- always the last to take down the lights and tree. When the kids were in high school, their friends would drive by our house at night and honk at the lights -- mortified them -- and amused me. These midwestern Lutherans can take it pretty seriously when you don't take down your decorations in a timely fashion...I think there are sermons being delivered as we speak linking the neglect of "de-Christmassing" the house w/blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, which as we all know, is no small sin!

Gotta fly, ladies!

Have a great one. It's a gift!

Sheesh, Sooner! Better get them down before Lent or they will tar and feather you and run you out of town. And remember... Lent starts early this year!

By the way, the last tar and feathering in Delta was in 1923 - some "traveller" shacked up with the school teacher's wife and got run out of town. TRUE Story. I think he may have still had his Christmas lights up.

Default Good Morning Chickies!

hey gang! I've been lurking and decided to take 2 minutes and post!

Sounds like everybody is trying to be good and get back on track. That's Great!

I finally got to get into the chatroom at night last night because all my guys were watching the football game and the chatroom was PACKED! It was great to see everybody in there and chat away! Soooooooooo does anybody get a minute to chat during the day - that place is so empty during the day and I miss seeing all my chatting buds. Not that I don't have a million other things to be doing here at work with all the year end bookkeeping and fun stuff but I do try to check in on the hour (like at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00) when I can and see if I catch anybody for a second.

Everybody have a great day!

hugs, cathy

Good Morning!

I am slowly working some coffee into my system, but I feel exceptionally tired this morning. I went to bed at a regular time last night -- I certainly hope I'm not getting that darn bug!

Today isn't going to bring anything exciting. I think I'll hang close to the house. Also, I really need to get over to my local church and get involved. I think that is my number one resolution -- I am horrible about making friends. I'm not anti-social, just sort of shy.

I hope you are all having a great day. Sounds like everyone still needs to take down some decorations! I still have up my Santa. My mom makes these gorgeous Victorian Santa's with lots of greenery and I hate taking it down. Oh, and my cookie jar! I wish I could leave them up all year, -- sigh --

Good Day Everyone! It's great to see this board so busy! Drink lots and lots of water!

Morning Everyone! It is bright and sunny here and also supposed to get close to 50! Definitely not IL winter weather, but I will take it!!! Made it through yesterday's annual trip to the gyno sortofkinda in one piece. He didn't notice any lumps or bumps or anything out of the ordinary in the exam, so that was a huge load off of my mind--need to schedule a mammo, but dread those! But, I didn't get my eyes closed quick enough and saw the number on the scale!!! Now I have my motivation!!! I knew I had been bad over Christmas but geez............. I guess it was a good thing in the sense that now I won't avoid the scale, I already had the bad news. Then they took my BP.......about 4 times......the lowest they could get it was 158/98. They want me to have it taken every day for 2 weeks and we will see where to go from there. More motivation!!! Then I talked to him about the fact that I had quit taking my thyroid medicine about a year and a half ago and thought that I should get back on it. So, they had to draw blood----I told the nurse the best spot and that they usually had to use a butterfly needle to do it cuz I have difficult veins....she of course blew me off and I have 3 extra puncture places--one of which squirted blood everywhere (sorry) when she pulled the needle out---I now have a major bruise and sore arm there. She finally did it in the spot I suggested with a butterfly and guess what.....it worked. Anyway, will get those results probably Thursday.
DS had a basketball game last night and his team of only 6 freshmen beat another team of about 15 freshmen by 10 points That made the day a little better! Tonight he has another game in a town about an hour away---hope they do well.

Jenni, if he is a Victorian Santa, didn't they celebrate the "12 Days of Christmas"?--surely there's some of those left!! I leave my big stuffed snowmen up all through winter til the first signs of spring.

Scooby, have fun at your conference.

Cathy, I haven't been to the chatroom in a long time--looks like it is time to go back!

Sooner, I have to laugh at your "Lutheran tar and feather story"---I can't remember where you said you lived, but I remember it is not a whole long way from the area of IL that I live in---I too live in "tiny town" with a majority of it Swedish Lutheran---you guessed it---most of the lights were up the day after Thanksgiving and down the day after Christmas---except of course ours"--I don't know if it's cuz I'm German Lutheran at heart or just lazy!!

Ruth, have fun at your dinner with the "girls'

Pooky, glad the wallpapering is going well!

Peach, I am a CHRONIC insomniac--I feel your pain---hope you get a nap in this afternoon!!!

A good to everyone!!!!!

Wow, what nice busy boards lately. I love it!

Oh Fuzzy One (that's you Peach) - I was going to bed (about 2:30 our time) about the time you were getting up. I'm reading a book I just can't put down, so needless to say, I'm a walking zombie today! For anyone interested, the book is "Widow for One Year" (or something close to it) by John Irving. Very good!

Hey Dottie - We're snowless here too. Isn't Colorado supposed to be picture-perfect snow at all times? I hope we would get some soon!

Sooner - I had to laugh at your post because as I was logging on just now, I looked out my window up the hill at my neighbor's house with irritation because I'm sick of seeing their Christmas tree! Does this make me an honorary midwestern Lutheran? I am relieved in a way though, because this means you aren't my twin after all. Otherwise how could you still live with yourself and those darn decorations?

Annie - they always do that with my blood tests too. So annoying. I know exactly which arm and where to stick the needle, but will they listen? Heck no!

Liz - I'm glad your funk is lifting. It sure is easier to live your life without that damn black cloud following you everywhere.

I am sitting here with half an eye watching for the UPS guy. My exercise tapes should come today and I can't wait to try them. I'm feeling a little better, so I'll give it a go. I'm really motivated because I got on the scale yesterday to face the post holiday music and found I'd gained five pounds. I swore I would not be a holiday statistic either! The good news is that two of those ugly pounds are gone this morning. I've been drinking water like a fish because I really think it helps. Speaking of which, I measured how much water my trusty thermo cup holds with ice. What I thought would be 32 ounces really was 24 because of the space the ice takes up. Turns out I haven't been drinking as much as I thought. So, my goal for today is 120 ounces again.

And with this post at a mini-novel length, I'll wish you all a wonderful OP day!
