I am excited to start the PT in the AM. I think that since I have lost so much weight and am pretty physically fit right now, that the healing will go better. I can't imagine trying to get around at all with my foot drooping like this if I was still over-weight. I miss exercising and look very forward to being able to do it again. Thanks for the support.

Good luck tomorrow, Lily! Be sure to come back and give us a report. You're right, you've done yourself a huge favor by losing the weight ... it's kind of scary to think where you would be right now if you were as heavy as you used to be. Maybe not even walking?

I am ashamed to admit this, but yesterday the scale was up 4 lbs. I was back to 145, instead of the 141 that I had been maintaining. Part of it was water weight, and part of it was poor eating. I was lax for a couple days. Not being able to exercise, every bite counts. I am now making sure that I drink my water, and eat only on program. I am happy that today, I was back to 143, down 2 lbs. I had neglected journaling my food for a few days, and I have learned my lesson. It is a MUST. I do think that I learned something from this.
Meg, you are correct. If I was still over-weight, I wouldn't be able to move hardly at all. I absolutely had to go buy groceries today. I needed to replenish my healthy foods and get my butt back in gear. My ankle is terribly swollen after being on it. My hip hurts too from swinging the leg to walk, it's just not natural.
I will let everyone know how PT goes tomorrow. I really have no idea what they have in store for me. Whatever it is, I hope it works.

I must have been retaining fluid. I am down another lb. today to 142, which makes me happy. Off to PT soon, hope everyone has a great day.

I am back from PT. They did a bunch of strengthening exercises with me. I really can't tell it helped any yet. He said it would be sore, but it's still just numb to me. He gave me exercises to do at home, which I will for sure do. I go again on Friday. I know this is my first trip and it will take a while. Maybe with the repeated exercises at home using a resistance band and such will start to see some progress after a while. On Friday he plans to put me on the exercise bike and see how that goes.

That should feel better lilybelle, like a light at the end of the tunnel.

I've kinda of got to the point in my packing and sorting that I'm not sure where to go next. The house is a mess of boxes and stacks of things to sort. DH found more boxes of dishes ... oi! I think we're getting a transport trailer today. Maybe if I get some stuff out, I'll be able to have a better look at the rest.
I don't hate moving. It is a good chance to declutter. But it is work.

Well, I thought the PT yesterday didn't do much, but by last night my foot was darn sore. I guess that means it helped. He said "you won't like me tonite for this". Now I know what he meant. lol

Hi All:
Glad to hear you going to PT Lilly. If you were taking medicine even over the counter, it affects the scale in an un postive way. Alleve, Advil all retain water. So keep up the good work.
Things are quiet for me right now, just coasting along. Thats a nice August for me.
Hope everyone is well. Keep up the good fight.

Reg4242, I was taking Ibuprofen for the edema. The doctor put me on diclofenac sodium as an anti-inflammatory. I think this makes the edema much worse. Of course, now that I am doing the PT exercises at home the foot is very swollen and sore. When I wake up the swelling is down and by mid-afternoon it is huge again. I really do believe these meds are causing me to retain fluid. Even my unaffected calf and ankle look bigger than usual.

I didn't know that ibuprophen causes water retention. Think of all the times we pop one for a headache, menstrual cramps, post exercise muscle aches ... hmmm ... interesting to note. I still like it better because tylenol makes me stupid

I'm a bit annoyed with myself today. I was the last signature yesterday and the sold sticker went up on our house sign! How did we celebrate? Calories! Wine with supper and later ... ice cream.

I'm just shaking my head this morning over old habits that die hard.

Hi ,

Lily - good to hear the PT of the foor seems to be working
SusanB - congratulations on selling your old house. Where will you e moving to ?

I'm a bit ill today, I have been too busy and thought I disregard the tiredness.. not so, I'm back at chest pains, difficulty focussing the eyes and I had caught a cold this morning. So I only went to work for a couple of hours, and went home & crawled into bed. Been too busy with hanging lamps in the house. The day after tomorrow the kids will be back from holiday with XH, I so look forward to seeing them again.

Hi Rabbit ... into a little town called Seaforth. You can mapquest it but you'll need a magnifying glass. We moved to the country when our children were young teens and it was splendid for them. No wandering aimlessly around town with their cronies But now I'm ready to go back to walking to the grocer and post office.

I found you SusanB ... looks like you midway between Toronto and Detroit. How long does it take to get to either one? Sounds like you've got the pleasure of small-town life, but you're near those bright city lights. I've always wanted to visit Toronto. Maybe next year.

Rabbit and Lily, take care. You both need to mend and recover. Greetings to the rest.

I can get to Toronto in about 2 1/2 or 3 hours and Detroit in 2 or so, depending on border traffic. Yup, it's a pretty nice spot ... quiet but not far from shopping
