Sounds like you need an x-ray. Stay off it till you get to the Doctor tomorrow. I hope you feel better and let us know what it is. Don't worry about exercise right now you need to heal and take care of yourself.

Reg, thanks for the reply. I am sure my Dr. will order X-rays tomorrow. I am staying off it. I can't walk without feeling like I am falling. This immobilizer boot that I put on helps a little to make it feel more stable, but I still want to be off it except to get to bathroom and such.

Ouch, Lily! I don't have any advice but am so glad you're seeing your doctor today. Be sure to let us know what you find out. Gina's right about exercise - you need to take care of yourself first.

I'm in New Mexico for DD's graduation tonight. My body is still on eastern time so I'm awake and itching for breakfast. But our hotel lobby has a coffeepot and wireless internet, so I can hang out without bothering DH. It has one of those breakfast buffets, so I'll have to be careful ...

I woke up with a cold yesterday so may skip exercising today. It's probably time for a break anyway. DD wants to do some shopping, so perhaps that counts as exercise??

Thanks, my appt. is at 2:30 today. Maybe he can give me some idea of what is wrong. I put shoes on today and that definitely hurts. I am still having the numbness and limpness in the left foot. I can't flex it. I am sure he will do X-rays. I'll let everyone know how it turns out. I do feel there is a little more sensation to touch in it than there was. So hoping this is a good thing.

Hi everyone. I had the X-rays and CT scan done today. My doctor said no breaks were found on X-ray's and don't yet know the results of the CT. He said there is "definitely nerve damage and not sure if this is permanent or temporary". I am to wear immobilizer boot anytime I am up. I have been falling against my walls and furniture from not being able to feel this foot. It is very scary. I have an appt. this Friday with an orthopedic specialist, and maybe he can tell me more. I sure hope it's temporary, if not, I hope it can be surgically corrected. I'm just not sure. I will keep everyone posted after I see the orthopedic Dr. My foot was so limp today they had to tape it to the other one to get the X-rays and CT scan pic's for alignment purposes.

Lilybelle, I hope the orthopedic Dr. can help you. So scare for you to be going through this. Try and rest as much as possible.
Meg enjoy your special occassion. Is it very hot out there. I hope the cold doesn't derail you. Seems I always get one after a flight.
I have been slowly getting back to my exercise routine after a hugh lapse, alright collapse. My goals are small right now but it really does help to take those baby steps foreward. Since they are small they feel achievable and are building on one another.

Lily, that you don't have any permanent damage. But no matter what happens, you're a survivor - you've proved that over and over again. You're going to keep the weight off no matter what happens with your foot, I have no doubt at all.

Gina, baby steps are the name of the game. It's silly, but I break down everything I do into little pieces or I'd be overwhelmed. I even keep the elliptical read out on two minute segments rather than the real time because I know I can do 2 minutes! (any more than that, I'm no so sure about )

DD graduated last night - when I get my camera back from her, I'll see if there are any good pix to post. Today's going to be a hanging out kind of day, maybe a movie. My cold stinks, but what can ya do??

Hi Lilybelle, the foot stuff sure sounds very scary. I am glad you will have an appointment with the orthopedic Dr on friday. Keep eating the good foodstuffs; I remember reading somewhere that especially some, but not all, of the b vitamins are related to nerve bettering nerve damage.

Gina - Yay for the baby steps! just keep on going.

Meg - I can relate to putting the elliptical on 2 mins reading. on the treadmill I always talk myself into continuing for the next minute, and then the next, and the next...untill i have stretched my 7 minute interest on the thing into a 15 - 20 minute run!

Hello peeps!

to lilybelle and the poor foot! And to anyone else who needs one, of course.

Well it's still really hot here on the Swedish west coast, but I persevere with my workouts at the gym despite the ridiculous heat. I was going to do my weight training program on my own (without my trainer, that is, since she's on holiday) for the first time today but my trainer had forgotten to leave the program sheet/card for me so I couldn't do the workout I'd planned because I couldn't remember all of the weights, machines and settings and stuff. But I had timed my visit to the gym quite well, in case that very thing would happen, so I was just in time for a Body Pump class so that was OK. Shame though, I'd loaded my iPod with a fresh upbeat playlist and everything.

Taking baby steps is the way to go for me too. Little Ms Trainer actually got me to run for 5 minutes straight on the treadmill - twice in the 1 hour program she made. And I who hated the treadmill, I thought I would die when she said what was coming up but I grasped the nettle and started running.. one minute at a time and WOW, I managed.

Invested in a pair of SPD spinning shoes last week and that sure made a difference to the spinning experience - no more numb feet and having to re-tighten the straps. It was a bit tricky to fit the clips on the pedals though, so the instructor had to help me the first time (which was only fair, since I had given him some computer support, haha). Managed it myself the second time though.

Hope you're all doing well and drinking loads of water, if it's hot where you are. Well, drink loads, regardless of outside temperature because it's good for you, or so I've heard.

Thanks everyone for the support. I really need it right now. I feel awful not being able to get my exercise. I am staying on program with my eating and my weight has been stable. This much I am happy with.

How is it August already????

Lilybelle, all the best with your foot. How about swimming, or is it too painful even for that? I kind of know how you feel, as I had an ankle fracture about 3 years ago. I was worried to death it would throw me off maintenance. I was relieved to find that my body was quite forgiving in the short term (6 weeks in a cast). I hope that you find the same thing and it doesn't interfere too much with your weight loss success.

I've had a good summer so far. I've been very, very physically active. Tried two new things last weekend, waterskiing (I'm a horrible water skier), and jet skiing. Love jetskiing!! Not exactly a cardio workout though... More just entertainment. I went surfing a couple of weeks ago as well, which was really great and a very good workout.

The summer is flying by, and truthfully for the first time I've had NO chance to log into fitday for calorie counting etc. But...the size 32 Seven jeans are still fitting and I'm feeling good. I think I'll push my luck for a bit more. : )

Thanks, I haven't tried swimming. I'm still sore and not sure if I could do it or not, without being able to bend my foot at all. I did notice tonite that I can wiggle my toes a tiny bit. I am hoping this is progress.
This summer is going so quickly. My DD starts back to school next week. I have went swimming 2 or 3 times a week for most of the summer. It is one of my favorite activities.
I weighed tonite and am very happy to see that my weight is staying stable at 141. I am getting more used to my new body/size. I think it is looking good and I haven't been able to say that for years. It sure takes some getting used to after being over-weight for a long time.

Oh Lily, that must feel so good. You should write a book! Then you could have that skin surgery. ha! After reading your post I don't think you are strictly Atkins with the all the fruit you eat. Maybe you have a new way to lose weight.

Thanks. I started out strictly Atkins and decided that Fruit didn't make me fat and I wasn't going to give it up. I don't think that eating a lot of fruit has hindered my weight loss. I couldn't stand having eggs every day, so I included Oats for breakfast twice a week. I eat lots of lean protein, cheese, salad, fresh veggies. I do have LC whole wheat bread and LC whole wheat tortillas. I know that I eat a lot healthier than I used to. Before it was often donuts for breakfast. Cheeseburger , fries and coke for lunch. Kentucky Fried chicken with all the fixin's for dinner. Cake and ice cream for dessert. I was a junk food junkie. I sometimes think the reason I was able to lose weight so well was because before my diet was absolutely horrible. Almost any healthy change probably would have taken the weight off me. Plus, since I was totally inactive before, any exercise at all was a big improvement.
I really do feel happy now with my body and feel better and better about it with each new day of maintenance. I am definitely not stick skinny, but I didn't want to be. I wanted to be a healthy size and feel that I have achieved this. I am more proud of my BMI than anything. It went from 36.6 to 22.5. This is my biggest accomplishment. In the end, it is all good and I am happy.
