Another thought. While your laid up with your foot you can start writing that book. he, he. Give you something to do when you can't exercise. Hope to hear good news from the orthopedic specialist.

carol, Thanks. I am actually writing a book now. It is about my childhood, my family, experiences with men, the odds I overcame in going to college and reaching for my dream. It also entails my unexpected illness and struggles to regain my health. When I finish it, my family may be the only ones to read it and that's OK. It will be something of my life story to pass on to my children. I am on chapter 4 right now. Since I am not working now, I have time to finish it , if I'd just stick to it.

Hi All:

Seems summer is winding down already. Were does the time go. My good news is that after a one week vacation that resulted in a 8 pound weight gain I am back where I started, but its 3 weeks later. Got love maintence math.

Exercise wise I went to a new park yesterday for my walk. A change of pace felt good. Its a bit of a drive from my house but it has a nice jogging path and lots of shade. I will go back.

Lily good luck with the book, and the foot.

Enjoy,

Oh, Lily, that sounds so interesting. Keep at it. Maybe even a chapter on weight loss. I know that will be in there, right? How's the foot?

Default Finally back to posting

Things are going OK with me. My daughter went to overnight camp for the first time and did really well with it. While she was there, I took my son on a mom-and-son bonding vacation to Washington, DC. Yes, there are easier times to be there than the last week of July! Stayed in AC as much as possible, but any walking between museums was incredibly hard.

My weight is well within target range (I am actually about 126--need to update my bar at the bottom) and my clothes are fitting. My YMCA got a bunch of new cardio. equipment so I need to make an appointment to learn how to use it. Am going to many classes there (kickboxing and strength, mostly).

The challenge: I decided to stop looking for a job for this fall (have been a middle school teacher). Very hard to find a good part-time opportunity, which is all I can handle for right now. It's disappointing to accept this reality. I've been doing some writing (just for enjoyment, not for money) and that's been helpful.

Hope everyone is doing well and surviving heat/humidity. Iced green tea has gotten me far this summer!

Hi all. I tried putting on tennis shoes today and leaving the immobilizer boot off for a little while. I couldn't do it, almost fell trying to just get to the bathroom. It is still numb and drooping with a little mobility of the 3 smaller toes. I see the orthopedic dr. in the AM and hope he will have some positive answers for me. Since first Dr. said it is "nerve damage" , I don't know if this is something that can be repaired or not. I just have to wait and see. This boot thing is hot and heavy.

I guess it's safe to say that I'm maintaining. I'm not sure how. My food is awful. Even when my calories are low, they're not good calories. I think in about two weeks I've done some intentional exercise once.
I'm working too much, but when you're part-time, you take when the taking is good. So tomorrow is nine out of ten.
I think my head will explode if this real estate deal doesn't straighten out soon. I thought all the financing had to be in order today but it's tomorrow and some inspecter is coming in the morning. It looks like a zoo in here. We're about a third packed. There's stuff everywhere!
I've moved some furniture so I could at least make tidy stacks of boxes. I'm going to get a good nights sleep and sweep and vaccuum in the morning. Then I'm going healthy food shopping while that inspecter guy is here. I have to work at three but I should take the time to go for a nice long walk along the lake. In the town where I shop, there's a board walk along Lake Huron. Now that sounds like a darned good idea.
There ya go! Just by coming here to vent ... I've come up with a coping mechanism that involves both diet and exercise

The walk was fabulous! The lake was sooo blue. I walked first and then went to buy nutritious groceries. Now some of those good foods are in my bag and I'm off to work again.

Great update on my foot. I saw the orthopedic Dr. today. The CT showed no breaks. He feels that the muscles and nerves will repair themselves in time with lots of Physical Therapy. I start PT on Monday. I am so happy.

thanks so much everyone. I am very happy and will be so glad to have my mobility restored. I am looking so forward to walking again. It sure doesn't seem like a chore, when it's taken away from you for a while. I miss it.
