I had joined a couple groups featuring keto weightless and got a lot of help and some great recipes, but ended up dropping out because there was a lot of people trying to get you to buy this or that. I'm not doing strict keto, but am using some of the guidelines I learned. Basically still watching calories but not being scared of eating something that might slow down progress.

JayZeeJay, I hope the surgery went well! What is the little cutie's name?

FB is not great for a discussion group, IMO. Too disorganized. It is too hard to search for a previous comment by someone if you want to go back and see what they said. The format here suits me fine, but I'm willing to switch if everyone wants to. I am on another long-lasting forum with 7 other women. When Calorie-count went belly up, we switched to FB but everyone hated it. We finally went to MyFitnessPal. Not ideal, but okay. It lets you post photos.

I was not strict with my eating last week and have 2 extra pounds to show for my non-efforts. Back on track again today. I hope my 5 day backpack starting Wednesday will help me drop a little.

The next two weeks and most of our July long weekend will be crazy busy for me. Didn't manage to get the paddleboard out this weekend so I'm hoping July 2 will be the day. I only got to use my last paddleboard 3 times in 4 years and I'm hoping to do better with this one. I can't go after work because I'm too beat so weekend mornings are the only time available to me for this activity.

I find it so peaceful. The lake is like a mirror and it's still cool and relatively quiet. Looking forward to July 2!

Paddleboarding sounds lovely, Dagmar. Hope you manage to get out there much more this year.

Alice, I've never been on FB (all that data harvesting - "if it's free, you are the product") so have no interest in moving over there. Like Dagmar, this site suits me. Have a great trip!

I'm just back from my mum's where we tried out some perfectly disgusting ready meals. More work needed to track down things we both like. As ready meals have not been part of our lives, this is a new venture for us both.

I also stayed with a friend who I thought was pretty health conscious. Such a lot of sugar! I'm starting to think I'm quite hard line. She is rake thin but I think she doesn't eat much generally, walks long distances and also fidgets.

I find the less ingredients on the packaging the better the meal generally. And most things turn out better baked in a conventional oven rather than zapped in the microwave. Makes a bit more work but much less than making the food from scratch.

I'm in a few groups on FB for diet, exercise, lifestyle. A couple that are gadget-centric, a couple more that are run by a personal trainer I first met here years ago, a couple others for specific targets. I mainly participate in the personal trainer ones. It is harder to respond to things or find old posts on the FB groups, though.

Thanks, Dagmar. Very good point about ingredients. They are microwave-free houses, both of them, so it has to be the oven. Had a not-very-nice beef mince pie today for lunch. Food at Mum's has to be good rather than only just OK. This pie did not make the grade.

How did the puppy's operation go, JayZeeJay?

Hi, Shannon!

Day 2 of Week 1. It was terribly hot and humid yesterday and I was feeling rather sorry for myself last night. Limited my self-comfort to a small serving of mixed nuts and a tiny Kit Kat bar. I find that if I brush my teeth in the evening right after my snack I'm less inclined to continue eating.

Having to return my library book before Friday is also helping me focus. I watch TV or play Scrabble with DH for about an hour and then go upstairs and read a chapter or 2. I'm hoping to be finished by Friday so whoever has the hold on the book next can get it.

FB is definitely the place for discussion groups these days. Google Plus also runs special interest groups and has discussion forum-like threading. Plus there are a lot of weight loss apps that have their own social components.

I'm holding steady right around 146/147. Sharing my non-scale victory today: for the first time since halfway through my pregnancy, I am wearing both my wedding ring and my engagement ring! My fingers have been too fat for 5+ years.

Hi all, puppy surgery went well though it was more extensive than anticipated. She was in the ICU for two days, mostly because she needed IV pain meds. She's been home since Monday - we're slowly getting better at taking care of her. She's a wild thing though, and keeping her splint clean and on her leg is a real challenge. So are the many nighttime trips outside.

To add to the fun, we have houseguests coming today.

Glad to hear the surgery went well and that she still has the leg! I hope the potty trips become less frequent soon! Is she wearing a cone?

Click "Post Reply." In the reply window, you'll see a strip across the top with formatting choices. The smiley face is almost in the middle. Click that and you'll get all the smileys.

I don't know whether this works with Quick Reply.
