  • Quote: Dagmar, just a question--have you been to or seen the dog fountain in Berczy Park in Toronto? Just saw a photo of it, and now I really want to go there and see it. The hand sculptures at the same park are pretty cool, too.

No I haven't seen this. I used to go to the St. Lawrence Market (which is a bit east of there) a lot years ago but now I never get a chance to go downtown any more. Didn't even know the dog fountain existed. We never do the tourist stuff in our hometowns do we?

  • I'm holding at 8 lbs down and looking to drop another or even two this week.
  • Yay, Jay!!
  • Jayell !

Me too, but I've stalled out.

Here's a link to a photo that hopefully you can see. It's the cutest thing ever if you're a dog lover. They're all trying to reach the golden bone at the top. I'd mentioned this blog before. She has other photos of stuff she sees in her biking and walking travels around Toronto and surrounding area.

  • Quick update from me. It's the end of June so I've just completed my first month on Maintenance. It was all a bit experimental, and I lost 3.5 lb in June, which is ok, I wanted to lose rather than gain. But I need to figure out the best way to stay a bit steadier than that in July. I was away with work for two weeks in June, so a couple of periods when I couldn't really measure what I was eating, so basically I haven't really learned very much about how much I can eat without gaining. The experiment continues!!

    Great fountain Sheila!
  • I'm under 140 lbs. again. Good start to July. :

It helps that now my dinner is an automatic calorie count - the boxed meals we are getting are all under 700 cals. And the recipes are great! Stuff I'd never dream of putting together. I'm loving this so much!

  • I'm back from vacation! 5 pounds came along for the ride. Two already gone though so hopefully another two are also water weight to be gone by tomorrow. We had a good time! Lots of walking and outdoor activity -- swimming, kayaking, etc. Now back home and trying to focus on detoxing this week from last week's indulgences.
  • Well two more are gone and I'm back to 146, yay! I'd glimpsed 144 on the scale before leaving though so I'm hopeful I can get back there soon and start to plug away at those last ten pounds. DH is on board and refused MIL's offer of an entire cake to take home yesterday (she apparently "accidentally" made two ). I told the kids we ate enough junk food last week for two weeks so we wouldn't have any this week and they were also on board with it (it's super cute to hear them talk about how they're going to eat healthy food and be enthusiastic about carrots).

I'm thinking it's time to step up my exercise. I've been running 3x/week, about 2 miles each time (1.75-2.25). My pace is slower than I want though. Also, I was at the playground with my kids watching them do the monkey bars and remembering how much I loved doing that as a kid, and then I was disappointed to realize I do not have the upper body strength to do it. I need to think carefully about how to improve upper body strength without aggravating the cyst in my wrist. Yoga and pilates are my favorite kind of strength-building exercise but both of them require too much wrist flexion for me to be able to do pain-free.
  • We went to a professional ballgame last night - free tix. We are not really baseball fans. I had popcorn and a diet cola and man, was the popcorn salty! Exceptionally expensive too - hubby had a $13 can of beer!

I'm really starting to wallow in nostalgia. I didn't like a ll the blinking ads and the blaring music. And the teams seemed to be dialing it in.

I'm going to go to a local park and watch an amateur softball game this summer. I think that defines the baseball experience for me. Green grass and trees, bottle of water, and a small box of Crackerjack if I can find one!

  • Oh woe, I seem to have regained my June loss, and now starting again at 129. I have a pinched nerve causing me much pain -- it even hurts the back of my skull when I put my head down on the pillow! Hard to make myself be hungry. But I'll keep trying. Happy 4th to all USA people!!
  • Back to 145/146 so I think I managed to keep it together enough on my vacation to not gain beyond the water weight! Hooray! Doing good at keeping food under control this week so far too. I'm going to try to make it through the weekend with only one indulgence.
  • Down another full pound this morning. That's 9 total in 5 weeks.

Once I get down 15, people will start to notice. But that will take another month.

Good work! And it definitely IS work!
