It's really hard to think of yourself as thin when you've been big for awhile. I remember reading your story, so I know you were bigger than I was and big for much longer, but after being big (ish) for over a year, I now can't seem to possibly accept the fact that I'm not overweight anymore. When shopping, like Kery, sometimes my fat girl brain does the thinking and has me reaching for 12's and 14's when in reality, 4's fit me much better.
Wow, Jessica, beautiful bride, gorgeous flowers, and that Seriously, everything - including you - is lovely. I guess I hadn't realized it was going to be an outdoor wedding. I would have loved one, but since we got married in January it really wasn't an option.....
DH is still getting new blisters from his shingles, and still very very cranky! I'm so glad I get to come to work during the day.
Lisa - great NSV, and I so hear you on the KFC. I was never crazy about it, and now the thought of it turns my stomach. Wish that happened with mac 'n cheese.
Pat my daughter had shingles when she was all of 11 years old. She had this one red spot on top of her eye brow. She kept on complaining and complaining about it. It looked to be what we thought was her first pimple and couldn't believe how she wouldn't stop going on about it. We thought it was the begining of purberty and that we were in for H E double hockey sticks. Then a few more of these red spots appeared. She was so uncomfortable, I took her to the peditrician and she took one look at her and said - shingles. We couldn't believe it. It was a rough couple of weeks, no doubt. And she was left with a couple of scars - on her face. I hope your hubby recovers quickly. Maybe this would be a good time to put in some overtime at work?
And a big for you. It's not easy putting up with someone who's in such discomfort. Especially when it's the hubby.

And just what is THAT supposed to mean?
PAT ~OUCH! I hope your DH gets better soon, I know people that have had shingles....no fun for sure.
LISA ~ I hope you do well in the 5K on Saturday. I am pretty sure that our plan to do one on Sunday will be fired/smoked out, no word yet, but it is real close to one of our fires. I didn't know that all KFC's don't have grilled chicken...our local one does.
I am still maintaining and getting my miles in on the treadmill. The kids went home this morning but now the tv says that maybe they shouldn't go home...confusing news.
My son had shingles at about 2 or 3 years of age. Yeah, it's weird. He had had a very, very mild case of chicken pox at age 6 months (when DD had a bad case of pox). I think he had less than 10 spots total and the doctor thought he'd probably get chicken pox again. Not so. He got this spot near his right eyebrow that was horribly red. The next morning, the entire right side of his head was full of spots, his eye was swollen shut. We went to the ER because I had no idea what it was and it was then that they said shingles. All this time I thought only adults could get it. And he still has the scars from shingles--two huge ones in his hair, one by his brow and one along his eyelashes that make a section of eyelashes fall out. He finally got the lashes growing again, but his eyelid is misshapen due to the scar.
DS really got my heart pumping this morning.....FIL took DH's truck to run an errand, so DH took my car. My employee ran to the bank in her car. My phone rings--it's my housekeeper reporting that they opened the house and set off my alarm. I have no vehicle to go and turn off the alarm! Thankfully our business partner showed up so I could take his truck and deal with it. Poor dogs were so frightened! All this AFTER telling DS "NO alarm" as I walked out the door and he repeated to me "No alarm." 5 seconds--it took just 5 seconds for him to forget and set the alarm! Now if that is a knucklehead, I don't know what is!!
Ah, don't take it personally, Gary! It comes with the Y chromosome I'm told.
I had shingles myself about 10 years ago, but they were nothing compared to this. Mine were just very tender/itchy spots around my waist, irritated by clothing, but more a nuisance. DH has a massive headache that nothing seems to touch. The doc gave him hyddrocodone which takes the edge off, but taking more just makes him out of it, which he hates. I'm not sure he was ever this uncomfortable during the 2 years of cancer treatment and broken back! Or perhaps like childbirth, my mind has tucked memories of those years waaaaayyy to the back.
Jessica - you look absolutely beautiful in your gown and goregous hairstyle. Your DH is adorable. And that cake looks devine. So glad the weather cooperated for you for an outdoor wedding. Was the reception in the barn or under a tent?
Pat - sorry your DH has shingles. Everyone I know who has had them had a really hard time with them, but eventually got over them.
Gary - glad to hear all your family members houses are safe so far and that you're having family fun time with them. Too bad it's too smokey and ashy to take the dogs for their favorite long treks.
Kristy - you've been sick too long. Have you been to the doctor?
Shane - love you new avatar. Is your hair really, really short except for a bit in front of your ear? Cool.
Where's Glory or Libby? We haven't heard from them in a few weeks.
Hi to Meg, Megan, Mel, Lily, Lisa, Lisa Marie, Kaw, Allison, Robin, and anyone else I've missed.
Tuesday night after freelancing at my DH's company again, I went up from TriBeCa up to Chelsie and went to a West Coast Swing dance lesson. It was given by the current WCS US Open Dance Champanion. She went over basic body position techniques and I really have to work on mine. At the end of the lesson, I got to work with her one-on-one and she pinpointed what I need to be doing instead. So it was well worth the lesson. She recommended that I practice to music by myself so I don't get distracted by the leader leading me through complicated moves and turns.
Then, during the dance there were more woman (followers) then men (leaders) and I felt like a wall-flower and only ended up dancing two dances before leaving around 10 pm.
The next day (Wednesday) I just wasn't able to motivate myself to get out of bed. I was depressed for the first time in almost two years. Luckily, the depression lifted around 5 pm when I made my DH's b-day spice cake with cream cheese icing before taking the train to meet him in downtown Hoboken for a nice dinner out. Had too much cake.
Today, I'm back to normal and am happy that the Internet is back online again so I can communicate with my friends by email. Eating hasn't been great. More cake, a large chuck of chedder cheese, and a full sugar Snapple Green Tea. Tonight's going to be a salad to balance out the calories.
More on deer: One of the front office staff hit a deer last night, the third time this summer. The accident took off the driver's side mirror (for the third time), but otherwise everyone was OK.
The conversation about the accident was like an Abbott & Costello skit:
Driver: I hit a deer last night.
Friend 1: Where?
Driver: In the head.
Friend 2: Was it late?
Driver: Well, it sure took its time getting out of the road!
Lisa -- Isn't it aggravating sometimes! The other day, I ordered a T-shirt online, and I was about to check out when I remembered just in time that, duh, it's a M size that I need, not a XL+ or more. Sometimes, 'fat girl thinking' can be hard to get rid of!
I do this sort of thing ALL the time. I may have posted about it already (because it was very exciting), but the last time I bought running shorts I started with the XL and kept having to walk back out of the fitting room and get the next size down until I worked my way down to size SMALL! I'm still astonished that I can get a small in anything. But I will probably always go to the XL first. And when I have to put down my t-shirt size for various things, I always used to say "the biggest one you've got," but now I have to actually think about it!
Shane, size 4 sounds great -- I don't think I'll ever get there! Of course, I never thought I'd wear an 8 either.
Pat, the thought of KFC REALLY turns my stomach after eating it yesterday. Eek!
Gary, this was a tiny little weird KFC, so I guess they just had the basics, which was all fried fried fried!!
Hi Carolyn, Kim, Allison, Robin, and anyone else I haven't mentioned!
I got to leave school early today -- we had some kind of malfunction with the water pressure and the fire alarm system. We stood outside in the cold drizzle and it was utter chaos for a few hours, but then we got to leave. I'm not complaining, because I get to spend more time tonight catching up on my grading.

Water Rat, shingles is basically a nervous system viral infection... so it's terrible that he has a headache with it! Ice packs might help... along with the pain pills.
I had shingles some years ago, just in one "strip" around my hips, and it was painful and also made me feel irritable. I also managed to get a herpes lesion in one of my eyes some years later... right in the middle of the cornea... doc wasn't sure how bad my vision would be affected for awhile there, but it did heal well. I'm not a candidate for Lasik as a result of it, though.
Height: 5 ft 8.5" athlete who can give a punch & certainly take one too! :)
Hello everyone!
Night I like your new picture, very cool tippin your hat to all of us. Size 4 omg, you are itty bitty, thats pocket size in my eyes!
Yeah its crazy when we forget our new size, when trying on clothes. I was a 10/12 & that is the size I still think I am too somedays, but in reality I now wear sz 8.
Been having a great week back on track completely, I am up a mere pound only when I weighed in today, so I reined it back in AGAIN, Yeah ME! I feel hungry today for whatever reason, so I just ate some carrots and a 100 calorie pack of popcorn. Hopefully I don't start eating any crapola next, so I thought I'd pop on in and read for awhile to tame my stomach rumblins.
Hey I just bought the womans world magazine and read about the infamous Amanda, so that was kinda cool to read about someone who is a regular on here, sorta celebrity status dontcha think? I saw it and I just had to buy it
Also, I wanted to post a reply on the magazine thread, but for some reason I did not see the thread even when I did some back pedaling, and searches, but I am still a newbie, so I am not too bright like a lightbulb I suppose one may think......But seriously, if someone can bump up the thread post for me for, I would certainly appreciate it as I would like to reply.
thanks peeps!
Glad to hear you're back on track. What a great feeling THAT is.
And yes, it's pretty cool seeing Amanda's face on the cover of Woman's World. She looks and sounded just great. I purchased the magazine for the first time just to see her, one of our very own.
