I'm late checking in with everyone. I've been swamped with work and just now catching my breath. Had a nice lunch with my dad, though, (spinach and pear salad) and then a chicken breast, veggie and a slice of cornbread for din-din. AFter I leave here, I'm off to do laundry. All my workout clothes are dirty!
Gary, I'm so, so sorry about your mom. I lost my mom over 20 years and it was the hardest thing. I feel for you, and know you must get a lump in your throat even thinking about losing her.
Lily, I hope you get better soon. Forgive me for not remembering, but weren't you to the doctor not too long ago, or had Lacy to the doctor not too long ago? I swear, I always come away from the doctor's office or ER sick. It's the strangest thing. I'd take my kids for well baby checks and a week later I'd get bronchitis. I wonder if you could have picked up the infection there... Anyway, get well soon!
Hi to everyone else. Meg, your 100 reps a day workout sound like great fun. Tough, but fun. I'm needing to switch things up a bit so I may join you one of these days. I'll keep you posted!
Oh, and my DH is the best at gift giving. He always gets me what I want, but I do have to point it out for him. Nothing wrong with that, IMO. He has to tell me what he wants too. Actually, I prefer it when everyone in my life tells me what they want, because I truly, truly want to get them things that they love, not things that they feel obligated to use.
Awww, hugs to you, Gary! I can somewhat relate: my mom almost died when I was 8 years old. She has MS (which is autoimmune) and basically went through a full body shut down that included double pneumonia, temporary heart problems, and other fun stuff that required a month-long hospital stay - she was in ICU and got her last rites said. My dad reassured my sister and I that my mom would be fine, but I didn't believe him and couldn't stop crying. Congrats on that other pound, though!
eeek, Lily! I hope you feel better soon... maybe you will get better twice as fast, even IF you got sick... you know, if being thinner prevents illness, maybe being thinner allows your immune system to be strong enough to fight it faster? Or something.
Oh, and Meg, I tried your workout idea - I went up to 20 and felt like I could go for more, but now my arms are a little sore...
Shane, on my "100" workout, it's not a set of 100. It's just reaching 100 reps, using your usual weights, no matter how many sets it takes. So for squats, for example, I'll use 135 pounds or so (that's as heavy as my knee doc will allow me to go) and do as many sets as it takes to reach 100 reps -- 8 - 10 sets, I'm guessing? About six months ago, I woke up one Saturday morning and decided I would do 250 squats, done as ten sets of 25 with 95 pounds. Mixing in goofy workouts like that keeps me from being bored to death in the gym.
OH, OKAY, Meg! *Smacks forehead and says "D'oh!" like Homer Simpson* I'll keep that in mind for the next time I work out
I'm going to be biking a 40 mile trail this weekend! Well, actually, it's 20 miles, but I'm doing it both ways. On top of that, I'm riding my bike around 7 miles to get there, then 7 miles back. *Faints* I'll let everyone know whether I actually go through with it and ride it till the end of what. I've never ridden 54 miles before... though I have gone for a total of 40 (another trail in my area! haha) so it shouldn't be too bad.
Other than that? I have no idea. The girlfriend is gone for the weekend and I don't know too many people here. Yeah, it's sad. I've lived in this town for almost two years and still feel out of place, can't call it home, and feel isolated even though I'm a very social person. It got under my skin at first, but now I've learned to deal with it. Still, maybe I'll try to have a get together with one of the people who I *DO* know.
Oh. I feel triumphant. I went digging through my closet and saw my three pairs of leather pants that I haven't been able to wear in... forever. I tried one on and it fit like a glove. Tried another and the same... the last one is still a little tight, but I'm working towards it! I honestly tried them on for fun and thought it would be a dream-on if I was actually able to fit them!
I totally envy anyone who can wear leather pants. And ride 54 miles on a bike. Let alone do both! How about a picture of you in your leather pants?
Awww you're going to make me bluuuuuush
I'm at work right now and not wearing leather pants I work in the city surveying office with a lot of men, so leather pants might not be the best idea...
BUT when I get home, I can, as long as the girlfriend hasn't abducted my digital camera again. (As I mentioned, she is gone for the weekend, and she loves the camera as much as I do! haha)
And Meg, I totally envy anyone with NICE ABS, which YOU have. So THERE!

Morning, everyone! I'm checking in late, thanks to an early morning training session. It was fine, except it was held when I would normally work out. (What were they thinking, anyway, scheduling the meeting during *MY* gym time.)
So, I still need to find an hour or two in a packed schedule to get to the gym. We'll see how it goes.
Holding steady at 135, give or take half a pound. OK, mostly give. Or would it be take? At any rate, my weight seems to have stabilized. That's a good thing, no?
Onward ho. Have a great Friday afternoon, everyone! Extra good cheer to Gary and Lily.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes. My throat feels a little better today but, OMG, my entire stomach is terribly sore from coughing so much. I now see what it must feel like to do 1000 situps or crunches. Has anyone else ever tried that Theraflu powder that you mix in 8 oz. of hot water? To me, the taste is horrible, but this stuff does work good. Actually everything tastes bad right now, even my coffee. My sleep was sporadic last night and I stayed in the recliner all night, but I at least got a little sleep.
Pam, yes, it's been less than 2 weeks ago since Lacy and I both had Dr. appts. I am super careful to bring my own magazine or book to any Dr. office. But, all medical offices are rampant with germs.
I've been doing well with DH working away from home a week at a time. But, with me being sick, I kinda wish he was here to take me to the Dr., fix me food, go get my med's and mail the bills. I knew he was good for something, LOL. I'm sure he's glad he's gone this week and gets to avoid me being sick.
Our local high school has a rampant staph infection going around. It started with one of the football players and has now spread to most of the team. They have been spraying the whole school with some type of germicide/disinfectant and there are signs not to use the drinking fountains. Pretty scary for me with 2 girls in that high school.
Gary, so sorry to hear about your mom. Hugs.
Shane, yes, I have noticed that now when I do get sick, I actually do recover quicker than I used to. So this much is good. WTG, on the leather pants. My DH tells me that I should buy some leather pants but I unfortunately now that I have the body for them, I'm too old to wear them. I would like to try a pair on someday just for kicks. Lol

Darlin', if Bret Michaels isn't too old to wear them, neither are you. ROCK those leather pants with attitude and moxie! Shake your leather-clad behind with confidence; be cocky!
Glad your throat feels better today.
And ok - living in the south is really getting to my speech - I NEVER called people darlin' before in my life before moving to Florida! But down here, everybody calls everybody things like darlin' and sweetie regardless of age.
We went to the football game last night and boy, was it cold! The coldfront moved in last night and might bring rain today. There are some very dark clouds out there today.
My plans for the weekend? First a run, then go for a haircut and then I'm going to get fitted for a new pair of running shoes. That'll be fun. Sunday will be filled with chores and errands as usual.
Lily, I hope you feel better soon! Significant others can be useful for a few things.
Shane, do you say ya'll, too? Since moving to the Panhandle 3 years ago I have picked up phrases such as "ya'll" "darlin' " and the awful habit of dropping the -g on my -ing words. For example, "goin" or "thinkin" or the very local phrase "fixin to" (I don't say that one yet). My parents both teach English and shudder at my speech! North Florida and South Florida are very different places.
Oh my, leather pants. Never in a million, billion years would I get up the nerve to wear them, even if I was at my absolute lowest weight. I have been trying to convince my friends to nominate me for What Not to Wear for 5 years now. They still won't do it!
It is rainy and stormy here. They just named the storm south of me a Tropical Depression, but I don't expect it to get too bad here. We need the rain! Last night the roommates and I curled up with a movie on the couch. Perfect weather for it.
