Good morning! Smart choice to nap, Susan - housework absolutely can wait (written as she looks around her own pig sty )

Welcome Kim! And I never officially said welcome to Gary - You certainly brighten up Maintainers.

Good luck with the computer, Tara! I really hope you don't have to spend the weekend recreating your presentation. I bought an external hard drive for my computer and back up everything once a week for fear of what happened to you. It would be devastating to lose my photos, among other things. And the thousand workouts I've done for clients. Gosh, this computer has my life on it!

I can't believe it's September already! It still feels like summer though. The gym won't open until 8:00 am for the next three days so I have to sit around tapping my fingers impatiently while I wait. The rumor is that we're getting a 24 hour gym about 10 minutes away ... must check it out, especially if it's got great new equipment.

Have a great weekend!

Hi everyone, I'm adventuring a little today. I'm letting Lacy go to the mall today with her little boyfriend. I've never let her go anywhere with a boy before. He is also only 15 yrs. old and his grandfather is taking them, so this should be OK, right? Gosh, it's sad these girls are growing up and getting so interested in boys, eeek. I'm sure this sounds silly, but it's a big deal to me. OMG, Shane is more over-protective of Lacy and Shelbey than I am. LOL, he knows what boys are like, he's part of the pack.

After a few days of lousy eating, I'm determined to exercise and get back on track today. I did get groceries last night, so house is stocked again with all healthy foods.

I haven't slept well lately because Lucy won't quit barking at night. Grrrrrrr.

DH and DS are both off work on Sunday and Monday. We're planning to take the boat to the lake and have a day of swimming and skiing. It should be a lot of fun. We always take our own picnic food, so I'll see what I can make ahead of time for me that is healthy. Definitely a watermelon will be on my list of food. I can eat a huge amt. of watermelon and it never seems to cause any wt. gain for me.

Good morning!

It's been hard here. Our power went out yesterday at 3 PM and didn't return until 7 AM which meant a VERY hot night. 85 degrees inside with no relief from fans or open windows (it was over 100 when we went to bed and 88 when I got up at 6 AM). I didn't go for my Saturday run until after the electricity was restored, so that meant running in the hot, hot heat and sunshine and all that meant I could hardly run at all. I didn't sleep well at all (I so much prefer to be in a cold, cold room all cuddled up in my comforter).

Well, it's off to the showers and then a day of running here and there for errands and such. Have a great weekend!

baffled - I made homemade cheese once. (panir which is like a firm cottage cheese) It was pretty cool to do but it took forever to bring a gallon of milk to a simmer since you have to keep the heat low to keep from burning it. The stuff i made was a 2 step process where you simmered the milk and added lemon juice to curdle it and you ended up with a cottage cheese and then you put THAT in a sieve and weighted it down overnight to squeeze out all the whey and ended up with a fairly firm chunk of cheese.

And then I decided next time to go to the indian store and just BUY panir.

The computer update is that overheating corrupted my Windows. Hopefully things will be ok by Tuesday??? Unfortunately, I can't take the chance of waiting until Tuesday to see if I get my powerpoint lecture back. I'm here at work getting ready to start it over again.

BTW, Weight was 119 this morning -- maybe it was the Grape-Nuts.

Afternoon, all.

What a gloriously beautiful day in my neck of the woods: mid-70s, sunshine, low humidity... this is what late summer is all about!

My plan for the day was to go to the grocery store, unpack, clean, and then go to the gym, but it's too nice to be inside. I did make it to the store this morning, where I stocked up on veggies and splurged on a beautiful fillet of salmon for my dinners for the next couple of days. (I'm on my own until Tuesday.)

Then I puttered around the yard a bit after eating breakfast on the porch. That's "cleaning," right?

For "unpacking" I put together my bike. I *had* to take it for a spin to make sure the derailleurs are adjusted, right? An hour later, and I'm back and ready to find some other excuse to be outside.

Hope your days are going equally well!

Kim

Hi everybody,

SusanB, I never think a nap is a waste.

Kim, it extremely important to have well-adjusted derailleurs. I think you should do it daily.

Tara, sorry about your computer problems. I'd be lost. Speaking of that, I should back up.

We tried to do DD's first haircut today. It ended with a tantrum on the salon floor. Sigh. DH said he got some great pictures of the fit. I'm sure the grandparents will be proud.

Hi everybody! I'm glad you all feel that a nap is a good thing cuz I'm gonna do it again. The dust will keep and nobody needs supper until after 7 pm.

I picked squash ... does that count as house work? Oh and I got chicken out for supper.

HI GALS

Well I worked a half day today then came home and did 4 miles on the treadmill while Angie went for a massage. Just taking in a little football now, then going to church tonight, getting home just in time for the USC game.

Angie and I went to Fudruckers last night for date night . She had the burger with guacamole and cheddar and I had the Carribean grilled chicken salad and a Heineken light! I even only ate half of it and brought the rest home for Angie's lunch today. Guess that proves I belong to MAINTAINERS right?

I was actually down another pound this morning to 188.2 which means a 13 pound loss in 40 days. A lot of work on my exercise and choices! I am sure that I will settle in and not lose as quickly now...but...I am gonna keep trying!

SUSAN ~ Any nap is a good nap! Yes, picking squash or anything that burns calories is work!!

ANNE ~ Sounds like my son's first haircut...oh my the tears! I thought he would never get another one. He is 26 now, since he was about 12 he has got one every single time one hair is out of place. I swear he has 2 in a week sometimes!

KAW ~Anything on a bike is exercise or work! Should never need an excuse to bike!

TARA ~ That's "what I was thinking"...it was the Grape Nuts

ENNAY ~

ALLSION ~ No freakin' way! How/did you sleep? I have been taping drywall out there at 5am in the 90's and I swear I would die! There have been warnings all afternoon for flash floods out in the county around us.

LILY ~ Your pic-nic day sounds like a blast!!

MEG ~ Thanks for the welcome! I have read your "story" you are awesome!! I am so thankful for you and some of the others that have accomplished incredible feats, it helps to keep me focused on efforts.

BAFFLED ~Enjoy your wedding in Oregon...such a pretty state.

MEGAN ~Several of guys at our church make their own beer, we did an Oktoberfest a few years ago serving only their brews, everyone was pleased.

CAROLYN ~ Enjoy the week-end with your husband.

EVERYONE ~ HAVE A GREAT LABOR DAY WEEK-END!

Sleep? Impossible! I tucked a couple cool water bottles around my neck and did drift off a couple of times. Just got up from a 2 hour nap instead!!! Yes, naps are necessary and very useful! I wish we'd get some rain, but we're on the wrong side of the mountain--we can get the floods and we do get huge rain clouds, but very little in the way of actual precipitation.

Anne~I don't remember my DD's first haircut, but I vividly remember my DS's first real one (I used to do it myself). We took him to Supercuts or some such place, they got the booster out for him, they put the cape on and the hair cutter seriously looked like she was going to cry! DS sat stock still with a big freaking grin on his face and didn't cause one bit of trouble!

Kim~cleaning? Define cleaning? My idea of cleaning is to pick up my papers and close the doors to my computer armoire so the housekeepers can dust and vacuum!!! Yeah, I know, I'm spoiled!

Tara~I so hope your computer gets fixed. I just got a new one for DS and he was so worried that the power outage had killed it! They are pretty tough, but heaven forbid you get a problem. Thankfully they have those geeks that can fix them!

Well, I feel a lot better after my nap, but I'm afraid the day is pretty much done for. DH and DS went for haircuts and now DH is napping (he's a regular napper on the weekends!). I have to make sure that if I want anything done on the weekends, that I get him started early because the time after lunch is ALWAYS designated as nap time (usually for 3-4 hours!). DD went to Lake Elsinore (there will be rain there, I'm sure) for the concert. I don't expect her home before midnight. She is planning on sleeping in tomorrow. After a light dinner (the omelet that I planned for LAST night), we'll watch a movie on pay per view (in the comfort of our air conditioned house!!).

lol Gary great job on the weight loss (13 lbs in 40 days...men suck )

Anne - haircuts, well my kids have a lot of hair. I cut dd's hair myself until she was about 18 months old and then she fought so hard I thought I was going to put an eye out and she hasnt had one since ...unless you count last month where I had to cut some powered cars out of her hair because she was leaning over the race track and the wheels got tangled. We are going to have to cut it soon because it is close to being a potty problem.

ds has had 2 cuts so far, and since I dont think the top knot and forget it method will be ok for a boy the next one will be professional with clippers. Whatever is FAST.

House cleaning? What's that? ds does an army crawl, his belly never leaves the ground. I let him get his shirt all wet with his sippy cup, then he slithers around on the floor until his shirt has picked up all the dirt it can hold, then I wash the shirt.

Naps......mmmmmm I love naps

Allison, I would have gone crazy in that heat. I would have been in the car with the a/c running full blast driving until I saw lights and a hotel with a/c.

hi maintainers,

Cleaned the house, laundry is churning, DD is on a sleep out, DS is practicing with the band...Ahhhhh this must be sunday morning. AND I went outside and did week 2 of C25k and some stretches afterwards.

SusanB, Ennay, Allison...I hear you on the housecleaning. I do this very infrequently, and I am a sucker for every device that promises me that I'll have to spend less time on it.

Allison - power outage ? WOW, that must be so inconvennient! Is this common around your area?

Tara - hope your computer is OK. I am currently installing extra Harddisks into mine and DSs, and run into a snag with his. Sigh. But once the stuff is in, up & running, I can finally get a software solution to backup my stuff instead of doing so manually, because I tend to forget. Allinell - does this make me a geek yet ?

Anne - does your daughter realise that cutting hair does not hurt & that it will grow back ? My kids were not aware off this at first and it scared the **** out of them untill they figured it out. There was a song about it on sesamestreet from the grover character I believe, ending with that he was so surprised that hair cutting did not hurt and that he like beign with his nice fluffy blue hair afterward.

I did well this week with excercise, I hope to get in inroad on the 5 lbs holiday gain that I somehow managed to get in the past month. Labourday in the Us..that probabely means that summer holiday season is definitely over, right ?

Have agreat weekend,
Rabbit

Good morning!

I was sleeping so well when the alarm went off. I couldn't figure out what that noise was. But ... another day, another dollar.

Hi everyone, I'm up early having my coffee. DH set his alarm for 6AM and forgot he didnt' have to work today. He's sleeping now but I'm totally awake.

Lacy had fun on her first little supervised "date". They went to the mall. Dakota bought Chinese food for both of them and she was too embarassed to eat in front of him. LOL, I remember those days, something I soon got over. Then they went to the movies and she fell asleep. LOL. Her curfew was 11PM and she made it home at 10 so I was happy. She saved their dinner receipt and movie ticket stubs to put in her scrapbook, how sweet. He seemed like a nice boy and was cuter in person than he was in all his internet pic's I'd seen a million times. He came in and met me and shook my hand. When I handed Lacy some spending money he said "Oh no, I'm paying for everything". Poor boy, looked like he was scared to death. LOL. I'm glad now that DH or DS weren't here when he showed up, he would have probably wet his pants. LOL.

I'm still trying to find my way back on track with food and exercise, but I'm not giving up.

LOL @ Susan, I can be a very deep sleeper at times and have pushed my BF around the bed telling him to turn his alarm off when it was mine. Or even worse, flicking my bedlamp on and off while not understanding why the annoing sound wouldn't stop!

Life here is quite uneventfull at the moment, nothing much to tell about, eating ok, not perfect, not bad, so no changes weightwise. Since our second computer isn't up yet i've got no pictures of me 'before' but i've unloaded our camera today so i figured i'd show some current pictures. Here it goes (well at least i hope it works..) The first one is from two weeks ago in our old home just before we left, the second one i took today.
