  • Mars, you're adorable! Thanks for posting your photos -- I love putting names and faces together. Can't wait for before pictures!
  • Quote: Allinell - does this make me a geek yet ?
No. I'd say that makes you cautious and smart! My DD did the same thing (only because she didn't want to lose all the music she's got stored on iTunes! LOL).

Oh, and rabbit, have you invested in a Roomba? I'd love one to clean up all the dog hair, but I'm sure my Chico would think it was a toy and try to eat it!

Power outages are pretty rare around here. You hear of one here and there--old faulty equipment, accidents, etc. Usually it is fixed within a couple of hours and isn't that bad to deal with. This one affected at least 5000 people, so ennay, it was difficult to attempt to find a hotel (holiday weekend in a resort town--you know?). That's why we decided to tough it out. I did have thoughts of sleeping in the car, though! LOL I did read in the paper the next day that several hotels had to turn people away. This is actually the first outage in 17 years that has caused us any trouble. All the others were short lived. Luckly, we weren't the worst off. One person reported to be out of power for 33 hours! Yikes!

Susan, there are certainly times when I sleep through my alarm and it scares the heck out of me!!! Usually, though, I wake up 5 minutes before it goes off. I guess that makes me a morning person!

Lily, it sounds like Lacy's date was perfect! I'm glad she had a good time!

After yesterday's 1 1/2 hour nap, I didn't sleep so well last night. I awoke at 12:30 and realized Dana wasn't home yet. I knew she'd be late, but being a Mom, I started to worry and of course think the worst. She got home around 1 AM. But the rest of the night, I didn't sleep well. My weight this morning is back to normal--more or less. Still a pound above ticker, but not to worry.

I got my running around done yesterday and today we're planning on either lunch or dinner out and we're going to go see Super Bad. It looks like a cute movie. I think I need a comedy!!

    Everyone have a great Sunday!
  • Cute photos, Mars! I like to see what people look like too.

Lily, how nice that Lacy's first day went off without a hitch. You did a great job letting go and still leaving boundaries intact. And the thought of a 15 year old boy nervously getting ready for his first big date just makes me smile

I feel like complete cr*p today. I think there isn't a single empty carb or fat calorie that I didn't consume yesterday. We stopped for a big classic american breakfast on our way back from the wedding yesterday morning. I had, and I'm not kidding, scrambled eggs (yolks included!), hash browns, bacon and a biscuit with very delicious gravy. Obviously I didn't eat all of it, well, I had the entire biscuit with gravy, but I just nibbled at everything else. It was probably about a million calories and I felt a bit sick afterwards, but it was good. Then we had our cheese making party. The mozzarella was quite good, but, to be honest, everyone had so much to drink that I don't know that many people were paying close attention. I certainly wasn't. We got home around 3 and, because we were drunk, ate some very high fat foods to, um, absorb the alcohol, before falling into bed. I feel downright sick this morning. Most of it is the wine, but I think my body is also protesting the sheer volume of fat and empty carbs. Today I shall eat nice healthy salads and happy-making foods.

Before we left the Gorge yesterday we bought an entire salmon from some fishermen selling them from their cars in a parking lot. The salmon had been dead less than an hour when we got him! It's alright for Pat to be eating the freshest of fresh salmon all the time, but it has to be trucked or flown in to where I live. Anyway, we filleted it yesterday afternoon when we got home (bf made a total hash of it, but I forgive him) and I think we're going to have delicious grilled salmon with a lovely salad of fresh veggies we picked up from farmer's stands on the drive home for dinner tonight. My body will be much happier about that than about the damn biscuits and gravy and three (four?) bottles of wine.

Hope everyone has a lovely and relaxing day!
  • Quote: hi maintainers,
Anne - does your daughter realise that cutting hair does not hurt & that it will grow back ? My kids were not aware off this at first and it scared the **** out of them untill they figured it out. There was a song about it on sesamestreet from the grover character I believe, ending with that he was so surprised that hair cutting did not hurt and that he like beign with his nice fluffy blue hair afterward.
Hi Rabbit. That didn't even have time to be an issue. The salon with the funny smells, the strange lady that wanted to touch her head, the draping. All too much, too close to naptime. Scissors didn't even come out! Well, not until the end when there was one single snip. I cut a couple of the long strands that were down in her face today, and she could have cared less.

  • HI GALS ~

Went to church last night, then watched my USC TROJANS win. Since we went to church last night, Angie and I took our goldens on a 1.25 mile walk to STARBUCKS this morning around 6am then took the long way of 2.25 miles home. We spent most of the rest of the morning and early afternoon at Lowes...had to feed the RHINO for the BBQ tomorrow. Then the produce market and grocery store. After lunch we put up a valance she had made at the beginning of summer for the family room sliding glass door.

I was able to get another 2.5 miles in on the treadmill before dinner. Hangng out now watching The Natural with Angie as she does her crossword puzzle during commercials.

ALLISON ~ You can be sure your DD would not want to stay in Elsinor!

LILY ~Glad first date went well!

ENNAY ~I am done another pound...I can't explain it other than I am really workin' it!

    Hi to ALL........gotta go........doorbell!

SUSANB ~Yep, I am in your neighborhood and any more smart remarks from you and I will burn ALL my Barry Gibb vinyls! in protest! Here is a recipe out of Redbook Angie and I are going to try, I have one using mangos but can't seem to find it...my daughter was always getting it out to make the salsa, think it got lost.

    Tomato-and-Nectarine Salsa

Coarsley chop 1 large tomato and 1 large nectarine. Add 1/2 cup chopped sweet onion and 1 Tbsp "each" chopped fresh cilantro, olive oil and fresh lime juice, and 1 tsp minced jalapeno (Angie and I would leave this out). Serve as a dip with tortilla chips or over grilled fish.

    See ya soon! GARY
Angie made this tonight with some very sweet nectarines...sooo good! She made it just like the recipe and left out the jalapeno. Very easy. We had it with chicken tostadas and chips.
