My parents toojk out a life insurance policy on all of us kids when we were little for very cheap. Then when we got out of college or moved out of the house we took over the premiums and have a nice little nest egg. Plus the premiums are very inexpensive and there's no "qualifiying". Think of it as an investment. Obviously it doesn't sound like your MIL is doing it for the same reasons as my parents, but just wanted to let you know it doesn't have to be a negative thing.
Debbie i split my 6oz a day into 2: 3oz proteins and i usually do chicken however i got to thinking that i might do tuna today and then chicken tonight. If i do that I will probably do 2 oz of tuna and 4oz chicken. I just play around with it basically lol. Plan on heading home around Noonish to workout no the treadmill, grab quick shower and then have lunch before i head back to the office for a little bit and then go do errands. Cant stand this heat yuck!!!
I have to say yesterday I felt pretty good aftering doing so well i wasnt POP but i was almost there. Then i did some exercising and I have to say i physically feel better. It amazes me how quickly our body lets us know things. I hope to get my elliptical put together this week so i can start on that as well. Ok im off to eat my LA LITE!!!!
Hey all--you've been busy bee's this morning! My scale is making me crazy--ugh--why why why won't it move!! Oh wait--it did--just in the wrong direction! Some months I am up pre-Tom others not, then another month up during TOM, others not--why the inconsistency?? Enough whining.
Evette--glad you did great in Vegas--summers are horrible--gotta stay INSIDE the casinos or you'll fry. WTG on not gaining--hard to do with all the food there. The medium was in gym pants--I doubt I'll ever be comfortable in shirts--too broad in back and shoulders and can't stand clothes to touch me!
HeatherPP--bummer about the hotel--that sucks. Glad you did so well--I sure didn't when I was there. After your training session and a day or two POP you'll be great.
Leah--good to see you.
Britt--WTG getting on the treadmill instead of on the couch!! That is a victory.
Katie--congrats on the pound--I am a little green but will get over it! I definitely can NOT gain my weight back or I will be naked!! I loved getting rid of all that junk. I was telling DH hoe empty my side of the closet was and he said he's confident I'll rememdy the empty space in no time. Probably.
SZNN--YEAH on the losses--the scale is evil and I wish I could stay away but just can't do it. Glad you are in a better mood.
Debbie--we have policies on both our girls and have since birth. They aren't a lot--only $10,000 per child and I think it's only $11.00 a year on DH's insurance. It's a morbid thought but my car insurance guy is the one that got us thinking about it when we were pregnant with the first. He had lost a child at age 6 and they didn't have a policy so they had to borrow $6000 from the bank just to bury her. So tragic but I can't imagine having to go through that--just adding insult to injury. I hate thinking anything could happen to my girls but I have to be realistic, too.
Thanks chickies for all the warm welcomes - I appreciate it!!
Yes, Sznn -= I totally am with you on how the scale effects my mood - it is so amazing that a digital piece of plastic can have so much darn power!!! It is the start to my day and really has the most effect on my mood all day long - it is sad - but I'm right there with you!!
AND Way to go on being and staying so close to goal - you are getting there!!! You're so close you can taste the success.....
Debbie - I don't have a policy yet, but I'm definitely planning on it - I think if you look at it with the right intentions - it is not a bad thing at all - just like Lea Ann and JM said....Good luck with your decision....
Katie - Way to go on that scale going down down down - wow - you keep getting closer and closer!!!
Kristi - Welcome back girl - glad you had a wonderful time. I'm with you on the TO - I would like to do it - but just haven't had alot of success the last 2 times......
Lea Ann (Boo girl) - So sorry that scale is not being nice to - but I totally understand about the inconsistency it is enough to drive you crazy - just don't let it upset you or make you made enough to drive you to eating!!! You can do it girl - Are you still at your ticker weight? Hey if so, at least you are still in that newest decade!!!
Oh, I haven't uploaded the beach pictures, but I will share a few once I do!!!
I'm off to a meeting here shortly and then headed to the eye dr. I will see you chickies tomorrow!!!
I have caught Heather's Sunshine this morning..... if anyone came over unexpectedly they'd see me humming and dancing (yikes!) while I was dusting and vacuuming.
Wow! We have a lot of folks climbing back on the wagon these days. That is AWESOME! Welcome back, and stay with us this time - we won't let you fall too far.
Lea Ann - note to self - jeans and t-shirts never go out of style!
Evette, and Purple Sunshine - vacations rock! HOT HOT HOT in Vegas. EWWWW. Heather - bummer hotel stuff, but otherwise, sounds good!
Katie - what's up with the family challenge? Haven't seen a newsletter or update in ages!
Ok- more dusting and gotta scrub the bathroom. YUCK.
Britt - Funny you should say that, but yes, there are times when I feel lighter and just feel like the excess fat has just fallen off. Then seconds later I can see myself in the mirror and wonder how it all came back. Feeling lighter is SOOOOO much better than the alternative of feeling stuffed, solid and bloated!
Debbie - at first I was going to say a life insurance policy on a child wasn't the best investment in my opinion. However, what Lea Ann says does make sense and if the policy is really that inexpensive, perhaps it's worth it. A friend passed in May 2006, and those funeral expenses were over $14K...ouch.

Life insurance for kids?
By Pat Curry • Bankrate.com
If you want to start an argument, ask a group of financial advisers what they think about buying life insurance for children.
To some, it's a great, low-cost way to set money aside for the future and to make sure he'll have insurance as an adult, in case an illness later in life makes him uninsurable. Others say it's an outdated product that has been replaced by more effective savings tools, such as 529 plans. Still others say that since the purpose of insurance is to replace a wage-earner's income, it's inherently wrong to sell insurance on someone who doesn't have a job.
According to research from the American Council of Life Insurers, life insurance for children isn't a popular purchase. They report that only about 15 percent of people under the age of 18 have life insurance, a percentage that has stayed steady for more than a decade. The average amount of coverage on children is small, usually in the range of $5,000. Many companies will tack on a small amount of insurance to a parent's policy, essentially to cover burial costs.
Still, it's a commonly asked question and many parents aren't sure what to do, if anything. "Most folks are torn," says Victor Gainor, second vice president of individual insurance products for TIAA-CREF, a life insurance company for teachers and their families.
Just wanted to tell ya'll about some awesome SF popsicles I bought today! They are made by phillyswirl and they are wonderfull, only 10 cal a piece.I bought them at Sam's.
Oh they came in flavors like cotton candy and bubblegum and 3 others, yummo!
i just dont feel right life insurance now for me anyway, i guess i just dont want to think of my child dying.
Juliemarie - i guess i can understand it being really cheap and i'm guessing the premium doesnt change right? If that was the deal i can understand that because later on when you are older you wont have to pay so much. My MIL took 1 out that was over $200 a year which is not a crazy amount but he was 10. She called him last night and asked if he wanted to take the payments and he told her to cancel it, now its just a waste because my DH has 2 life insurances for himself and he's paying 2 for his dad that his dad took out and he's stuck with the payments. Even if i wanted to take out for the children it would be so many payments with the 4 we have already. I dont have a life insurance policy.
Lea Ann that premium is not alot at all, i wouldnt hesitate on taking 1 out for that little. The pay out would be just enough for (i dont even want to say it), but you wont be making any money which is what i dont want, i dont want to make $ of my child if they die. I told hubby last night that if we had to mortgage the house we will but i just dont like thinking about it. I always thought if something happened to 1 of my boys i wouldnt want to go on but then i think its selfish of me to think that way when i have another child who needs me. It is such a morbid thought.
HeatherPP its definately something i will think about but it wont happen in the near future.
I assume there are different policies because I am a little confused. The ones we have on the girls I would never consider "investments" --just insurance--they don't accumulate or grow or give them anything later in life, and I'm sure we would never "make" money on them--which is a horrible thought. To each his own.
