Red face Starting Slim in 6! Need motivation.

Hi Everyone!

I'm new and excited about losing weight. My biggest problem is getting motivated to actually eat right and work out. I have a huge sweet tooth for sugary candy (mostly pull and peel Twizzlers, and things of that nature), I'm unemployed right now, and can't seem to find motivation to get started.

Sometimes I feel motivated, but that feeling is usually fleeting. Please help keep me motivated! I need a buddy or something.

Has anyone here done Slim in 6? I've done it before and loved it, but it's been a while... I'm doing two days of fasting, and need to keep myself busy or I'll cheat. What are some ways you distract yourself from eating? How do you all get motivated?

Take up needlepoint!! In fact, when I get off my computer I am going to get mine. Its a great thing to do while watching tv. It will keep your hands busy and your mind occupied, so that you DO NOT think about food. And in the meantime, you will be making a beautiful wall hanging/seat cover/pillow/whatever. If you live in or near Chicago, I'm sure there is a great needlepoint store somewhere near you. And it is very easy to learn.

Lots of things can be your motivation: good health for one; and feeling lighter; more energy; less tired; feel better; look better; and so on. Each person could probably come up with a list of motivators. Best wishes on your new journey towards a healthier you ...

Sounds like you're ready to get started - no looking back, no beating yourself up, just moving forward -the support you need is here.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help choose the right ones for you and get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
