Red face Newbie here

Hi everyone, I came across this site today and decided to join.

I woke up the other day and decided I was quite finished with this whole unhealthy depressed miserable thing I have had going on for the last few years, so I am doing something about it... well still pretty unhappy, but hey one day at a time right?

I was an overweight kid, that grew into an overweight teen.. I lost the weight in my early 20's only to gain it back plus some with my first pregnancy.

I have reached a health breaking point really, I hurt all the time, it's one thing after another. My skin is terrible, my back hurts.. I pop tums like there is no tomorrow and recently started finding lumps on my legs

I am kinda finished this, but clawing my way back from this depressed place is going to be hard.
I am pretty sure I am up for the fight though.

Welcome! I know exactly how you feel, but the great part about taking control of your food intake and your weight is that you will begin to feel better really soon. You don't have to get to your goal to see and feel the benefits.

Good luck to you!!

Thank you

I think my back will thank me for even just a slight change.
It's like my body has been screaming at me to stop this, but I have been ignoring it.. pointedly, almost defiantly in fact.

I am taking a more philosophical route this time, as before when I have tried to lose weight I was " I must work out 1 hour everyday, only - calories a day, and got really obsessive about it, then sabotaged myself in the long run, because it didn't happen as fast as I wanted it to... maybe?

I felt the same way, like I was at war with myself. Then one day, the balance shifted and I didn't want to fight anymore.

And I'm a lot less regimented this time around and it feel so much more relaxed and less like I need to be perfect. It's going to come off if you work at it, but there is no extra credit for perfection!

I just joined the forum too. I have been up and down 100 lbs over and over again. I too, just want to have energy and feel healthy again.

I too have had periods of being obsessive on diets, and then I just quit eventually. This time I want to lose slowly and do it as part of an overall lifestyle change.

Hi SlithyTove!
Sounds like you're off to a great start with determination and realistic goals for a healthier you - I know you are stronger than you give yourself credit for and can do this - the support you need is here.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help choose the right ones for you and get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee

I'm new to 3FC as well. I've only been a member since yesterday, and browsing through the forums I'm amazed at how supportive everybody is. We've joined a great place.

Here's to meeting our weight loss goals. We can do it!
