You are doing fantastic Destony! Diet Fatigue is real but I am finding that now with almost 50#'s gone, the compliments are keeping me rolling
Mary - ugh the new norm eh? I know almost everyone suffers with some form of dysfunction in the family, from time to time, but my in-laws...let's just say I don't think using the word "narcissist" would be too harsh. My poor hubby has tried for years to keep peace in his family and I think this weekend was the final straw.
Hey GD - congrats on the inches lost!
Thanks Amber!
7 days later, the scale finally dropped - was down to 185.0 this morning.
Had my follow up blood work for thyroid / iron this morning (results tomorrow) and a dermatologist appointment right after to check a concern on the tip of my nose. They froze some "per-cancerous" cells off - OUCH! Now I have to wait for the thing to blister and fall off.
On the bright side, I got to work from home today so made fresh chayote-hashbrowns for lunch - mmmmmmmmm
Now all my animals are snoozing and making me tired lol

Beth are you sure you don't have my in-laws? So many times I held my tongue, they don't know how lucky they were that I wanted to lessen the grief on my hubby.
Amazing that you have lost so much, you, Linda and Amber are doing an amazing job. I didn't think I would last 6 weeks, don't know about you guys, but here we are. I am feeling very gratified!

I know, I wasn't sure myself how long I would last. I have a lot of respect for the people who have families, especially children to cook for. I don't think I could have stuck with it for so long. We're all doing awesome- and for me, seeing everyone's successes AND struggles are what help to keep me going-it is really cool isn't it? I wore a pair of jeans to work today that I wore a couple of weeks ago and struggled to breathe in- but they are much more comfortable !!! We are really rocking things here!!
oneuh2 -- I live in Falls Church so Northern VA as well! Work in DC.
I would love to do a get together.
Day 2 of IP, hopeful for a few pounds off at my weigh in Saturday. I will have been on the diet 6 days at that point.
I work in DC too but only have to go into the office once or twice a week.
Love to do a compliant lunch or something on leisure time - I am seriously into dancing - ballroom and latin - and I found a great Gentle Yoga class that's on Sunday's at noon. After a few weeks on IP, when you are fully in ketosis and can get some exercise, maybe you would like to connect with me for something like that? Send me a private message with an email address, and we can share more location specifics for offices and kick around some ideas!
I am on a treasure hunt for really meaningful motivational quotes for our 2014 Starters theme this month -- this is one I found that is so perfect for newbies who are just starting their journey:
Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction
ends up being the biggest step of your life.
Tip toe if you must,
but take the step.

LOL - you can have mine Mary I was able to talk hubby out of a public FB rant and so he is sitting back, biding his time. There is so much I would love to say but after 23 years, know it wouldn't do a bit of good.

YES! We all ROCK! These types of NSV's make it even more worth while.
I had a case of the 'hangries' yesterday - being off routine (working from home), job stress (not being in the office presents different challenges), and just general exhaustion! I wasn't kidding about wanting to lay down with the animals and nap lol
For dinner, I shook it up a little and had some extra steak (about 6 oz's) with 4 cups of roasted brussel sprouts - this was on top of my 2C of chayote squash & 4oz of pork chop at lunch...I was also about 150 calories above average, and I was rewarded on the scale - go figure!
What a weekend - started great, ended 'eh', and with a lot of hurt feelings
Dysfunctional families suck
Ate 75% IP compliant - too much meat yesterday (16oz vs 8oz) and about 1,300 calories, but another pat on the back for avoiding the booze, cake (graduation), and s'mores.
I'm so sorry!!! None of that sounds good. We are all so proud of how far you have come and you continue to be an inspiration! I watch for your posts!!!!
I have no doubt you will get right back in the game!!! Hang in there!!!

That is FANTASTICasmuir You are also a great inspiration!
One other note while I scarf down lunch...got my blood work back - thyroid is completely normal again! Yay! Iron levels are still slightly above the "normal high" range - but my Dr. isn't concerned as the level dropped about 20% in 30 days.
I am due to go back in November for my 'ladies' visit and will follow up then to be sure it's back within normal range.
It was interesting though that she also correlated the high iron level with my wacky thyroid numbers - apparently, ferritin can interfere with synthroid
Beth I didn't know that about iron & thyroid. But glad yours is starting to level out.
Asmuir if your thyroid result - TSH (I think that's what it's called) is on the very high or low end of normal, you should still ask if they want to consider treating. The tests don't always show what you need. For example my thyroid was consistently at the very lowest end for 10 or 15 years, just a hair away from treating, and finally the doctor said my symptoms warranted taking the meds anyway, and it was a huge life change for me, so much better. They understand now where my levels need to be in my blood tests for my personal body, but it took a long time for the doctor to figure that out. When figuring out the dose with the doctor I went too high one week, and boy did I know that was wrong, so if the meds aren't right you'll know - everything felt way too speedy. I can see why they don't want to treat if it's not needed - one night that week I wondered if I might have some kind of heart issue because it started beating too fast, couldn't sleep through the night if at all, and I felt like I was going to scratch my skin off. But I reduced it the next day and it got better really fast, so it can be corrected quickly.

My numbers were SUPER high like around an 8, and I have only been on medicine for 3 months. 3 months of medicine and I don't feel any different! This Thyroid stuff is all new to me. I will say my dr. checked in on me while I was just getting blood drawn and Said..."What happened?" with a big grin on his face and I said "Ideal Protein!"
