Hey everyone.

I have done IP before and after having kids I have started again 8 days ago.

I was wondering if any of you have any tips on accelerating the weight loss process? I know it sounds silly, but for some reason my scale hasn't budged in 3 days; in fact, I even have gained 2 pounds...and I have been on plan 100%. Weighing and measuring everything, getting in more than 12 glasses of water a day, etc... I have even cut out the restricted.

I have a vacation at the end of August and I want to lose about 25-30 pounds before then. My friend is on IP - weighed about 190 - and has lost 50 pounds in only 2 months.. Any tips on how I could increase my results like hers?

Thanks everyone. I am just feeling really disappointed and discouraged right now :(

Hi Suzanne - welcome and sorry you are discouraged right now. Ketosis generally kicks in between days 3 - 7 - that will help the weight loss and help with the hungries.

Are you going through a clinic / using IP products or doing IP on your own? If you are doing this on your own, have you read through the stickies on the daily chat? The most recent IP sheets are there (what foods, restricted/unrestricted etc...) along with a ton of other very important information. Gaming IP is not a good idea.

You really can't compare your weight loss to anyone else's - this is always an individual journey because we are all biologically different.

Also, have you seen your friend recently? Congrats to her...but I'll be honest - I've been doing IP since late January and never seen anyone's average be -6.0+ per week. Even if your friend dropped -10 that first week (possible when accounting for water weight) - that's still -5.75 per week and absolutely not normal - again, based on my observations here. If you do have a coach and they told you that -5 per week is the norm I would ask for my $ back.

Apologizes - so you are now on day 9, but 3 / 4 days without a loss...so you should be in ketosis. How much did you lose the first 7 days?
Search around the boards a little bit - weight loss definitely isn't always daily and linear - my pattern has settled in to 2 weeks of decent losses followed by 2 weeks of no / very small losses.
Some people do ok weighing daily, others do better with once a week. If you want to cheat weighing daily, it might be a good idea to step off the scale for a couple days.

Hi All,

I have been on vacation for a week, so haven't been able to follow everything that is going on, but am back at work today so can try and catch up. I staid 95% OP, and the other 5% was minor cheat like strawberries (fresh from the field so i couldn't resist) and carrots in my salad so hopefully they don't mess me up too much. WI is tonight and I am both nervous and excited to see they result. I am usually someone who steps on the scale daily but couldn't while i was away so for the first time I am going in to a WI blind. *fingers crossed * Hopefully tonight goes well.

I am not sure about the egg whites being unlimited, it was said in a facebook page and some coaches there said its the "new" thing from the conference but my coach didn't know about that. I just wondered if any of you girls knew about that. I think there is so much of egg white one can eat hehe but since I have added some plain egg white omelets in the afternoon I feel less hungry and my scale has started to move more... So, I am not sure what it is or why but it is working for me.

My Coach has said that I can add egg whites as needed. So on days where I do feel more hungry than normal I will add in a plain omelet similar to you, or use it to bulk something else up such as making a mug cake with the drink packages as a treat. And for me it has helped the scale move. The weeks where is stick to getting the 4 packages in, and adding an extra egg white or two i seem to have bigger losses. Seems very counter intuitive but if it works it works and i will go with it.

Hi KatyinDC! I started on 6/10 and have head great success so far. I'd love to join you in the process of encouragement and sharing recipes and weight loss tips! I've tried some recipes I've come across and found a few I really like so I'm starting to at least have some options - mainly dinners since I get bored with those. I look forward to hearing how you're doing!

I returned from my 10 day cruise on Saturday and am happy to report that I stayed OP for almost the entire trip (had a little slip up one night -- wasn't thinking and decided I wasn't going to let it get me down; the next day was a new day and new beginning!). I was able to take my IP packets and pre-made IP muffins with no problems. I drank all my water but struggled getting in my veggies, but did okay.

I had my weigh in today and lost 5.4 pounds. I consider that a huge success, but I'm looking forward to seeing how well I'll do now that I'm in home and charge of the cooking once more.

Wow Tarier! What an amazing feat to do that well on your cruise - that is so encouraging! And great job making your muffins ahead of time. I haven't tried muffins yet - I'll have to search out a recipe for them. If you can stay OP on a cruise you can stay OP anywhere :-)

Hi Funky Monkey - 13 lbs is awesome! On any other plan it would have taken me 2 months to lose 13 pounds :-)

Thank you, Beth. I really appreciate the encouragement. I got on the scale today and it budged .4, which is better than nothing. I had red meat on Friday, and I know it is harder on my body to digest, so maybe that is it. I've lost 8 pounds in the 9 days, which is good I know, I just was concerned with it not budging the last few days.

As for my friend, I phoned her today, and I guess it was 42.6 pounds she had lost..still really good though.

I am using a coach with IP products, and she said the avg is 3-7 pounds.

Suzanne - 8 pounds is a terrific start! :broc:

Again, I am hoping others chime in...but wow! 7 pounds per week? On average? That is "Biggest Loser" numbers. Not saying it's not possible, but its an outlier amount - most of those (on these boards) at / near goal would say 2 - 4 pounds per week is average.

I am doing IP on my own, so I would say it might be worth discussing your goals with your coach. Not sure if you are going through the same clinic as before, but it is worth noting that it is also not uncommon to lose slower on IP with each successive restart. Not trying to discourage you, but just want you to be aware and prepared. If your coach knew you were restarting, imvho, they should have already talked about this with you.

Coaches don't usually go so far off the expected avg weight loss, she is overstating things there. Even in 2013 my coach said 2-4 lbs and that seems to prove true for almost everyone I've been in contact with. I think she may be working from an old number used quite a few years ago. Remembering that AVERAGE weight loss includes the first (mainly water weight) biggie and those weeks you don't lose much if any.... 3-7 is NOT average at all.

Anywhooo, congrats on the downtrend... http://www.picturesanimations.com/b/barbiedolls/8.gif

I agree - I think I have heard that 3 to 7 is average for the first week only, not throughout the plan.

Probably over the entire course of P1 I averaged 6 lbs a month, so about 2 lbs a week or so I guess. Of course the majority of it came the first few months, after that much slower. Lots of weeks less than a pound. The important thing for me was just getting to goal, and letting it take however long it took.

As we all continue to see, best to allow the body to lose at the rate it wants to.

blueskiesahead 07-07-2015 04:32 PM

After a bit of a stall last week (only down 0.2), must admit I was a bit worried.
But I've been walking, upped my water a bit, and crossed my fingers hoping for a better result this week.

DOWN 3.8 :dancer:

I don't consider that quite a WOOSH, but maybe a "Mini-Woosh"? :D

Suzanne - good advice from hysteria and canadjineh
Don't get all tied up in a knot so quickly into the program, give it time to work and for your body to adjust...the first 2 weeks can be anything. You have to think about average losses, not just one day or a few days.
My coach told me 1 to 3 and I think most people here would agree that was pretty realistic.

A lot of people on the forum have posted their weekly losses in their signatures, have a look at some and you'll see most people are lucky to be doing 2 to 3 lb a week (after 10 weeks, I'm just over 2 lb a week).

You're off to a great start. Feel great about what you've done so far! :cp:

Me too! I know the losses will slow as we progress, but even 10 lbs per month would be huge for me. Although I am never satisfied... If I lose 2, I wish it was 3, etc. But I am trying to be patient and take the long view - the more I can learn and re-set my habits now, the better chance I have of this being my LAST diet!!

Down 33lbs in 8 weeks. Anyone have a wee bit of an emotional roller coaster during the weight loss process?

SusanneXo90 07-07-2015 07:53 PM

Hey everyone.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I really appreciate the support. I think I just get too focused on the number and not as focused in how I am feeling, and I need to try to change that. I am a bit of a perfectionist, and when it comes to the body, I guess we can't expect perfection, especially when you're a woman and get your cycle, etc...

Once again, thank you everyone. :) I am feeling more motivated

Grateful4Health 07-08-2015 01:25 AM

Suzanne you will feel so much better in a year, truly. It will all be worth it and you will forget the year and anything you needed to do.
AND… everything you are learning now will help you in maintenance. That is where statistically the odds are against you, so use P1 to learn everything about your body that you can …. how it reacts to TOM, stress, lack of sleep, waiting too long between meals… all of these things will help you when you are not sure in maintenance if it’s OK that you went up 2 or 3 lbs or not.

You can do this, absolutely!!! :cheer:
