Sue – :woohoo: WTG on your WI!! 4.5 is awesome! :woohoo:

Back home and at work today. My dad emailed and said my mom is having a good day so far. Was feeling guilty that I left but he said it was a good decision. Unless something takes a turn, I don’t head back until Fri. My mom’s birthday is Sun…my dad thinks she is waiting for that.

My WI on Sat was a lowly 0.4lbs. Hadn’t been on a scale since Sat and have been 100% OP so I was expecting to see a change this morning at home…nothing. I slacked off my water the last 3-4 days so I am making the extra effort to get it all in this week (and measure my food better for an exact 2 cups). No diet fatigue at the moment but I sure can see it setting back in with a couple not great WI. I am desperate to hit 100lbs and it is eluding me…

On my way home from my folks yesterday, I swung past where my DH, DD and her friend were camping. Couldn’t get over the total junk food they had bought. There was nothing I could eat and nothing they should be eating. Did we always do that? I like to think we packed healthier than that but am thinking not really. No wonder I was so overweight. Just hope they don’t bring it back into the house. I can ignore most items but even I have my limits.

glad to hear mom was having a good day....Your doing great...Isnt it amazing when we look at what we ate Pre IP! At the christmas holiday I had that awaking like really I make and serve all this LOL...Mostly the desserts as I love to bake! Anyway now I bake IP muffins LOL...

Oh Sue - I am so sorry to hear your news re: DH's condition -- like everyone here on 3FC, there is nothing I can say, that has not already been shared here -- You are in my thoughts and prayers and you can always come here to vent or find company with whom you can commiserate -- now and then we may be able to offer helpful ideas, but no matter what, we can always listen.

When my husband was diagnosed with gastric & esophageal cancer (EC), I found a discussion forum much like 3FC that was totally focused on that type of cancer. Cancer patients and caregivers use it as a good way to find information from others who are dealing with the same problems, just like we IPeeps do regarding our Ideal Protein journeys. The main site is called ACOR - the Association of Cancer Resources. It's a non-profit thing - the discussion groups for 140+ varieties of cancer are made up of and managed by volunteers.

The EC group on ACOR was my lifeline as my husband and I dealt with diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and all the different aspects of his cancer journey. So I hope that you will be able to find a group there that is pertinent to your husband's situation and might be a helpful support to you as the site was for me.

Thank you for the great info! I will bookmark it till the "actual" diagnosis and then see what info I can find. We are now having a biopsy next week and consultation with the oncologist April 1. This way the biopsy and other test results will be in. I keep digging for strength! Food will not solve my problems.

Fingers crossed for the morning - I don't have a sense yet of how the new scale will track with my home one.

Had a NSV this afternoon - I needed new pants for yoga (old ones are getting big and don't have a drawstring) and found some that were not only on sale, (Have a drawstring) but I fit in a medium! Got a couple of tshirts too, also medium. I have no frame of reference for this but I'll take it!

WTG on the pants! I love that! Yesterday AM I slid right into a brand new pair of pants I had bought for convention...Slid right on and zipped and looked great...what a feeling!

Today I am off to the office in the afternoon. Keep my mind busy! DH has to run to get his CAT scan films and then swing by the new oncologist for a blood test needed for the biopsy next week. He is handeling this like a trooper. As he said to me yesterday he wants to grow old with me so he has to fight! I got lots of things planned with this new thin body LOL... I may actually sit on a beach one day (something DH likes and I hate LOL)!

CenTXChk 03-18-2015 07:46 AM

Sue - I love the fight in your DH! He's got the right attitude. ;)

Texted my DH yesterday out of the blue and asked if I could buy the Fitbit and scale. Texted right back with a "sure". Wow, that never happens. Finally got to use my elusive 20% off entire purchase coupon at BB&B and got a One and the Aria. Think I got everything all set up last night and logged my food for the day. Wow, sirloin has a lot more carbs than I would have expected. Back to fish tonight!

Found Oneuh2 and JJTx. Not sure who else is on MFP.

Weeee, a new toy to play with! Interested to see what numbers I get on the aria vs my home and IP scales.

So glad hubby is confronting this and determined to battle it. What a lovely thing for him to say; obviously he takes a lot of strength and comfort from you. :)

Oooh congrats on the new "toys". I hope they play nicely together! :)

I'm on MFP (Briael, of course), but I seldom log anything there. I may make the switch from SparkPeople if you're going to have a mini IP community over there.

As of yesterday I am officially 2/3rds of the woman I was. 255-85=170. (Actually 169.8 but small change).

To celebrate, I put on my wedding dress and we took some photos. It wasn't until I put them side by side with the original wedding photos with the first and second anniversary ones that I realised just how big I truly was. It's an amazing feeling seeing the difference. I look at the size 12 jeans in my wardrobe and think "Gosh, they are so small, they will never fit" and am amazed when they do. :)

DeterminedDieter 03-18-2015 01:24 PM

Sue, I love your husbands attitude, it's just what he needs to face his coming battle, and it sounds like you will both be great strength and comfort to each other.

I'm on MFP -mrmiggles (after my cat lol) I've been using it for 4 or so years now and have never participated in it socially, but feel free to add me and I may learn that aspect of it :)

Amanda, congrats on your milestone :) I put on my wedding dress recently too and was delighted and sad that it's too big and that just two years ago and I wasn't as big as I was when I started IP. I hope your knee/leg feels better soon.

I'm getting excited and nervous about starting P3 on Saturday (I'm only doing one week of P2) I hope my body adjusts to the breakfasts over the weekend as I will be travelling on Monday for work. I'll have to spend several hours in the morning travelling in a twin otter up the Nothern coast of Labrador.

JJTx 03-18-2015 01:46 PM

Nice to see some new faces popping up on my MFP!! :)

Sue - your hubby is awesome, with that attitude he's going to kick this thing in the teeth!

Amanda - congrats on your progress and NSV! What a great feeling that must be :)

DD - sounds fun, you'll have to enjoy breakfast for the rest of us!

Well my WI was unexpected, .2 down for the week. I don't know if this is an adjustment to the new clinic and scale or what. (My home scale gave me an even 2 lb.) My fat % was up a bit too.

The upside was that the coach (I saw a different one this week, mine's off for spring break) sat down with my journal and literally went meal-by-meal, really looking it over to see if I goofed up, things I may need to change/adjust, etc. She suggested a few tweaks for me to implement over the next week. So while I'm bummed about the low # on the scale, I feel really good about the appointment and affirmed in my decision to change.

oneuh2 03-18-2015 11:17 PM

Sue - so glad your DH is taking this medical situation on with a vengeance!

Amanda - I love that you went for the wedding dress -- not sharing those pix with us, though? If you show yours I will show mine as soon as I can get in the dress... :D AND - making it down to 2/3 of your prior self is FANTASTIC!!!

JJTx - There is much to be said for the consistent home scale used from day 1 to current... mine sits next to my Aria scale... the 2 are a couple of pounds apart. And I used a 10lb bag of kitty litter to calibrate my old scale (the one with a dial and a needle). Somehow my Aria won't register the kitty litter weight....

CenTxChk - congrats on you MFP setup - I think I accepted your invitation to be friends.

DD - I will look up mrmiggles and send you an invite to be friends on MFP!

Tomorrow is WI day for me -- I am hoping for a good showing - I am down a couple of pounds per my home scale.... I would like to post a good weight loss to the Spring Challenge - it will be my final in that challenge.

Heh ... it was a "no frills" day so no hair or makeup and sloshing around in my glasses, but the photo speaks for itself. Photobombed by one of the cats.

Wedding Day, 1st Anniversary (hubby was deployed), 2nd Anniversary and yesterday. :)

Found an interesting article on some dumbbell exercises, for those like to strength train with dumbbells. A couple I'm going to try and incorporate as they look interesting and effective .. Here

OMG the change is dramatic! My favorite part and what I am dying to see on myself is that you go from no bones showing to bones showing LOL....I want to see my collar bone so bad!

Just a blip in the road... Have to make adjustments for new scale, coach. I have a coach that looks at my journal every week. She checks for timing in between food and combos that work and dont. Love that your new coach is taking the interest in you! You deserve that

Good Luck today at WI... You are doing awsome!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.... You don't know how much it helps to have that! I need all I can get...

Still not turning to food to deal with the stress... I am kind of in disbelief LOL. What has IP done to me LOL. I actually forgot to eat my afternoon snack yesterday :o I was working at the office and really busy, DS called for a ride home from Golf practice and I looked at the clock at the office and it was 4:30....snack time was 3! LOL So I ate my snack on the way to get DS. Honestly in a million years I would have never though I would ever forget to eat!

CenTXChk 03-19-2015 07:41 AM

Briael - Your wedding dressing is absolutely lovely. You are looking so skinny!! WTG!! :)

Still playing around with MFP and checking out my sleep patterns with the Fitbit (much better sleep when DH isn't snoring ;) ). The Aria is amazingly close in weigh and % body fat to the IP scale at my clinic which is good. I just love seeing those few less lbs on my old home scale....inaccurate as it was.

Still no movement weight wise :( Since my last 2 WI. No diet fatigue here but I know it can set in quick with no or low losses. Has anyone noticed a trend on their losses? I usually am one a 4wk cycle of big loss, smaller, smaller, no loss (or slight gain) and then repeat.

Hope everyone is having a great OP day!

Photos are awesome - you look great!! Your dress is beautiful.

Thanks for all you do here - you are very inspirational!! :)

DeterminedDieter 03-19-2015 08:32 AM

JJTx I would attribute the unexpected number to the new clinic for sure. Especially if you have been tracking at home regularly.

oneuh2 I hope you get your good showing at weigh-in for your final spring challenge entry :)

Briael The dress is beautiful, and you look fantastic :) And thanks for all the information you provide, you rock!

Sue I agree! Seeing and feeling bone and muscle once the fat starts disappearing is a fantastic feeling :)

CenTXChk I noticed a cycle after a while for my weight loss, check my ticker for details, but it was 4 weeks of losses then one week of nothing scale wise. It's great that you are being logical about it and not letting it get to you with diet fatique. How are your inches doing?

Everyone is doing great and should feel so proud of themselves :) Stay strong and OP!

JJTx 03-19-2015 10:51 AM

Briael - your pictures are lovely!! :)

Thanks for the encouragement everyone, I guess time and tweaks will tell. The main thing for me was that I felt great about the appointment and some actual coaching.

How great you look!! In all 3 pix by the way.....:D

Wearing a khaki suit today that I had bought at Talbots several years ago and had never worn - still had the tags on it -- size 14 petite.

The pants will fit for a bit longer, the jacket is perfect, and it made me feel great about having to stand up and talk at our quarterly All Hands meeting today... :)

And the great thing is... there is another pantsuit in the closet of many sizes, same size, also from Talbots... light olive khaki with slightly different style.... I am ready for Spring fashion - the styles are classic enuf to be fit right in with the current fashion trends, too!

I remembered to wear my fitbit today -- it's just after lunch and I am close to 4000 steps... this is very good, considering that I am usually stuck at desk most of the day.

All is good -- and I luv you guys!!!!

Kellyc14 03-19-2015 01:27 PM

CenTXChk - When i'm 100% I notice those trends, I lose 1 lbs one week and then three the next. It varies.

Briael- Nice pics!!! :)
