Hawaii, I have not been on track lately, so I am feeling a little fluffy/bloated. Right now, there is not a vegetable in the house! Did not feel well enough to stop yesterday, so no veggies today. Really need to get focused and prepare more. I noticed your cute new picture too. So exciting that you are approaching your year thin-anniversary.

Haiwii- love year picture and congratulations on your soon to be one year anniversary of maintaining. I'm glad your knee is better. Sounds like you are still getting in some good runs. I wonder if my long distance running stint will be short lived - I don't know how my knees will fair after the years of added weight. Fingers crossed.

Slip- hope that you are feeling better. I like your thinking around whether it's worth eating or not. Last Friday there were mini cupcakes in the chart room and I resisted with that thinking. I hate our chart room this time of year. Someone brought Halloween candy today. Anoying

Andrea, that dress sounds lovely. Can't wait to see a picture.

Ruth Ann - that is a great WI and I seems like you have met your goal for the mini challenge to lose the 1lb already and I'm sure you will hang onto it.

Sally, good to hear from you and that you are doing so well.

Have a good night

Slipfree - hope you are feeling better! I'm with you - if something looks amazing I will eat it, but I'm not wasting calories on mediocre treats. Rather save the calories for wine. Now, if my sister just hadn't sent me that box of Harry & David Moose Munch Truffles - think they need to go into the freezer. She also sent me a box of the most wonderful pears, so I'll forgive her for the truffles.

SallyE - Give yourself some time on upping the calories. It's a big change from P1.

You might try limiting yourself to "free meals" as opposed to "free days" if you feel like you're losing control. I try to rarely have all out free days/meals and work food I want into my daily eating. Notice I said try, I don't always succeed, but I do try!

evemomma - Glad your daughter is feeling better!

catlady - Can't wait to see the dress, I'll bet you look smashing!

Hawaii69 - I've been working on getting more water in, I realized I was slacking. Started drinking a glass every time I go into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee, a full glass with every time I take pills instead of just enough to get them down and alternating coffee and water at work (I drink way too much coffee).

Jenny - Crossing my fingers too that your knees hold out, sounds like you enjoy those runs!

And thanks on the congrats on the weigh in - I was pretty tickled myself. Now let's see if that pound stays gone. I'm using my Sunday weigh in for the challenge (good incentive to behave myself on Saturday!), so we'll see.

Yesterday was insane. Had 2 personal appointments before 9 a.m. so I went into work at 6:30 to get things set up and then had a doctor's appointment mid-morning and got back to the office just in time to send the boss off to do his thing. Last minute client kept me in the office until almost 6 and then went to visit sister in hospital for a bit - was exhausted by the time I got home.

And got up way too early this a.m. C'mon weekend!

Feeling better today, was at 164.4 this morning so my scale is moving in the right direction. Like Slip said, it's just a number, can't let it freak me out until I see the whole trend. Company holiday party tomorrow, the peplum didn't work out (the quality was meh) but I have a great back up with some great shoes, hope my feet can handle them!

Happy Thursday Maintainers!!!!!

Slipfree.....Hope you are starting to feel better!

PishPosh.....Yay for a good scale day! My scale moves up and down all week long. You do get used to it - but it's still nerving wracking! I don't stress (well not a LOT anyway) unless I see more than a 2 day trend of up at my higher weight).

RuthAnn....Hope you are also feeling better today!

At work early today just getting my head together. I only work until 5pm today as my daughter has her Christmas Program for school. Can't wait to see it!

I need to preplan my menu today (was too tired last night) because we are going out to eat after the Christmas Program. I guess I'll make the executive decision as to where we're going so I can go ahead and put it in MFP. I kept my breakfast at 200 calories since I knew if would be a bigger dinner.

I need to get some online shopping done for the family! Ho ho ho!!!!!

Hi everyone! Between work, school, and the holiday I haven't had a chance to pop in for more than a few minutes at a time and catch up on posts.

Evemomma - your trip sounded like so much fun, and congrats on maintaining well!

Jenny- your running impresses me to no end, especially in this weather! We recently acquired an elliptical but I'm nervous to use it, ha!

PishPosh - boo on poor quality peplums! But I'm sure you'll look fabulous in whatever you choose! Anytime I have to wear uncomfortable heels I "pre-game" by taking aspirin a half hour or so before. A cocktail later in the night helps keep my feet pretty numb, too - LOL! I envy people who can wear those gorgeous shoes.

Ruth Ann - congrats on the loss!

It looks like everyone had a great Thanksgiving - yay! I overindulged a bit - not with the meal (I tricked myself by taking a half portion the first time, so I could go up for a "second round" - but it was really the other half) but with desserts - 2 small slices of apple pie and a bit of apple crisp - heaven! I didn't even bother getting on the scale for a few days because I knew I would want to scream. But I did 3 days of super-low carb eating (under 40g net) using the sheet PishPosh uploaded. I didn't super-restrict calories though - honestly my hair is falling out at such a rate I'm trying to keep my calories consistent. It worked for me though, I was back down to 125 in a couple of days.

The Big C has also struck again, I was expecting this as it happens any time I change my diet - so that's been frustrating. I've also been having trouble with my allergies flaring up lately as well - but thankfully I can review MFP and spot the culprits. I'm thinking it's the organic mayo I've been having in my chicken salad for lunch. I only have 1 tbsp, but it does have lemon extract in it. I didn't think such a tiny amount could bother me, but I'm probably wrong. I also noticed my Krill oil caplets have ethel vanillin in them, which is another allergy trigger. So I'm going to lay off those two for a bit and see if things improve.

Hi to everyone else I've missed and good luck maintaining - through reading the posts lately I know it seems to be a collective struggle on this board. I'm so glad we have each other. (And I want to put "Keep Calm and P2 On" on a tshirt!)

Good morning Maintainers!

I work for a general contractor in construction and this time of year is an endless round of food/parties/more food. Subs cater in lunch, we get lots of pies, cookies, cakes, chocolate and alcohol. Everyone seems so concerned about whether I am going to "eat" or "drink". I'm not sure why. I don't care what they eat or drink. I'll just deal with it.

RuthAnn: Harry & David. We used to have an outlet store here and everytime I went there I got the Moose Munch Crunch. So good. But the pears are amazing. Enjoy. And congrats on your loss. That gives me hope that these last 7 lbs will come off.

Hawaii Congrats on your "thinaversary"! Maintaining for a year is quite an accomplishment.

Jenny: I wish I could run. I admire your stamina and you look so strong and fit. Bad knees/arthritis keep me from doing anything that involves jolting my joints. After my last knee surgery I was even banned from a treadmill. So bike riding and strength training for me. Maybe I can throw in some yoga and Pilates as well.

darthkitten Hope you have a fab time at your party. Great tip about the aspirin for sore feet. I will be using that as I will be wearing heels for the first time in almost forever. That reminds me, need a pedi.

Slipfree: Hope you are feeling better today.

pishposh: Make sure we see some party pics of you looking fabulous!

Liana: Have you tried any of Chef Verati's recipes from the Freedom Cookbook?

Off to eat fajitas brought in by a sub. Just eating the meat and my broccoli.

Hi everyone,

Home again today. Thank you for your good wishes. Trying an opposite tactic today, had a higher fat lunch in hopes that it will have a positive effect on my digestive system. Time will tell.

Darthkitten, sounds like you had a delicious Thanksgiving and were able to re-adjust after. Yay!

Andrea, you have the right attitude, who cares what other people think about what you eat! Their comments are about their own issues. Keep doing what is right for you.

Eve, your evening sounds delightful! Wishing your daughter a wonderful performance.

Jenny, in my mind, I pictured gross 1.5 month old Halloween candy. Not appealing at all when you think of it that way! Lol.

Ruth Ann, I love those pears. I make a salad on New Year's Eve with them. Yummy!

Pishposh, sorry that the peplum did not work out. Enjoy looking slim and gorgeous, you deserve it.

When I worked at the bank, this time of year was murder... all the lawyers' offices, the real estate agents, favorite long time customers, and other businesses would drop off or send boxes of imported French truffles, fancy nut and dried fruit trays, more chocolates - usually liqueur filled, sugar cookies, etc. The truffles were the worst - dark chocolate with equal amounts of fat & sugar, lol. That's what makes them so decadent. Glad I'm not there anymore...

I've kind of done my version of a couple of Chef Verati's recipes, mainly because I was missing an ingredient, lol. His Cobb Salad with Bacon & Bleu Cheese crumble is a lot like my tweaked version of Wendy's Apple Pecan Chicken salad that I have at least once a week, lol. I also like the Antipasto Platter, and Ham & Pea Soup Comfort Style. I also make Beef Curry with Cauliflower & Zucchini, and Beef & Pepper StirFry with Rice, and Sweet & Sour Pork with Pineapple Twist.

Lots of yummy ideas.
Hope you are feeling less fluffy, Slip, and that both you & sis are feeling OK, Ruth Ann. Might be time to make your own mayo, darthkitten... w/o lemon, lol. Hi to everyone I missed

Hi everyone;

Thanks Slip! I know that fluffy, bloaty feeling. And getting vegies in can be a challenge for me some days too, I need to make more time to prepare my food. And I hope that your tactic worked with the higher fat meal.

Jenny: I'm sure that you will be able to run no problem. You have lost all that weight and now your body can move and handle things so much easier. Our bodies continue to get stronger as we exercise and you do great.

Ruth Ann; It sounds like you deserve a break this weekend, busy schedule! I hope you get some down time.

Pishposh; Congrads on getting on top of things and seeing the scale move in the right direction.

Catlady; thanks for the congrads! My official thinanniversary is in March but I moved my goal weight up a bit so even though I did achieve my original goal weight, I was having a hard time maintaining there. I'm not sure if its because of the exercise and building muscle but I am much happier at this goal which I achieved around February last year. You never know, I might decide to lose the 5 or so lbs again but for now, I'm happy.

I hope all you maintainers are doing well. Its always great to read everyones posts as we work at keeping the weight off even though life can be so challenging at times. I am hoping to finish this week off with a run today and Sunday and the gym tomorrow. I've missed three days of exercise so need to get back at it. Have a great day.

darthkitten - good to see you! Isn't it amazing how we learn so quickly to correct just a couple of up pounds? I really believe that is the key to maintaining - catching it right away and getting back down. Of course lately I'm maybe being a little too carefree - my brain tells me to go ahead and do whatever I want since I know how to correct it. Gotta work on that!

Sorry you're having such issues with your allergies - I'm lucky that I am not allergic to any foods.

Andrea - I am enjoying the last of the pears. Wonder if she loves me enough to send me more for Christmas? And I have no clue why people get so concerned about what we eat - maybe they think they're doing us a favor by reminding us that we used to be overweight? Whatever it is I wish they'd stop (my inner curmudgeon coming out!).

Hope you're feeling better soon slipfree!

Liana - Sis is doing great, home already so that's good! Clients bring me tons of goodies this time of year. I thank them, tell them I just ate but am taking it home to enjoy later and then dh eats most of it!

Hawaii - I think it takes a bit of experimentation to come up with a reasonable, maintainable weight. I'm on the high end of healthy for my height but I am having an easy time maintaining it so I'm good with it. I think when I can get into heavier exercise I may adjust down a few pounds but we'll see. Nothing has to be decided today.

Speaking of exercise, I am so bummed. Had to stop PT for the moment since I apparently am retaining fluid along the surgical site from the reduction which is putting pressure on my muscles in my chest wall (if that makes sense). Suspect the doctor will drain the excess fluid next week but don't want to do anything to aggravate the issue. Nothing dangerous I don't think, just very annoying. Like I have time for this. (That's me being whiny)

Hope everyone has a great weekend - I plan on doing the Christmas decorating, we'll see how far it gets.

Anyone I missed - hugs to all of you!

TGIF Maintainers!

Liana I'm almost through looking at all the recipes. This is such a huge book. I'll look at those you mentioned closely. I am making one of his recipes off of Facebook, Stir fried beef with zucchini for dinner this weekend.

Hawaii When I got to my original goal of 150 I lowered it so I could get to the right BMI. That would put me at 136, top of the range for my weight/height. Right now I'm at 143. If I don't loose the last 7 lbs while doing P2/P3 I'm ok with that. I like the way I look and feel now. Once I hit P3 I'll start adding back in exercise and strength training and maybe a few more lbs will come off.

RuthAnn Yeah, I'm not sure why people feel the need to comment on my food habits. I just had two people come in my office to see what I am eating for lunch today. At my last job I was able to go home every day so I wouldn't have to deal with that. Not so here. I did your tuna on a salad with hard boiled egg last night for dinner. I just couldn't face 8 oz of meat for dinner. It worked out well and I wasn't so stuffed at bed time. Glad to hear your Sis is out of the hospital. Sorry about PT. You'll be back at it in no time.

evemomma How was your daughter's school function? Sounds like fun. I am going to check out a nearby Aldi this weekend for some of the items you are using in your menus.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Good afternoon,

Yesterday was my first maintainers WI. I am so bummed out. I have gained FOUR pounds

My coach was not as upset as me. She wants me to eat more protein at breakfast and drink more water.

Since I have phased off I am really hungry and looking for things to eat. I had ice cream, wine and limoncello all in one night. I was never hungry on P1 and P2 now I am always hungry.

What to do?

PS. I have been to the y the last four days

NotSo - I've gained 4 lbs this week too. On Monday, I was finally able to quit my BP medicine and the WHOOOSH (not in a good way), coupled with increased exercise, some salty snacks and achy ovaries ... well, let's just say P1 is in the house today to see what can be done. I was planning on an extended P1 in January - may have to bump that up a bit. Good luck to you - let me know if you find something that works!

Good you are going to the Y... remember that upping your exercise will add glycogen stores and accompanying water so don't fret... although limoncello, wine, and ice cream won't help - feed yourself more food, but not that kind. And, like coach says... drink your water!

You will be hungry for a bit until you get a little farther into maintenance so it's OK to eat more - just make it the right kind of food. Concentrate on your ratios for lunch & dinner.
