Bragg Organic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

I haven't seen that, but I always use Bragg Cider Vinegar. I like 3 tbsp. vinegar, 1 tbsp. olive oil, 1 packet of splenda - that's good for 2 - 3 salads. If you try it, let us know how it is!

Here is the ingredient list:
Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Bragg Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, purified water, organic honey, organic garlic, Bragg Liquid Aminos (vegetable soy protein & purified water), organic onion, organic black pepper and natural xanthan gum.

Very tasty but it does have 3 grams of carbs, from the honey I'm guessing. Can I use this or do we avoid all sugars as much as possible. Today is really my first day on the program.

Thx

Are there any Diet Coke alternatives? I think giving up my soda with dinner will the toughest thing if there isn't :(

dappledawnfarm 01-21-2015 10:49 AM

Why is dairy so restricted, as in low fat cottage cheese etc....?

Could take a look at the Zevia offering.

Soda contains phosphates and sodium, and all sodas should be avoided. If you like the bubbles, you can use flavored sparking waters that are not sweetened with aspartame, or invest in a Soda Stream soda maker. They have a full line of soda flavorings including diet cola, and because you carbonate the water on-demand it doesn't need to be shelf stable, so it doesn't contain any phosphates or extra sodium.

The honey makes it a no-no. Anything that is not on the sheet needs to be 0 carbs, 0 fat and 0 sugars in order to be used on Phase 1

Ideal Protein is a carb-controlled diet, and there is a limit to how many carbs you can eat in order to stay in ketosis (the body process that actually burns the fat). Dairy products contain carbs, and no fiber. Eating more protein can cause digestive issues, so it's super important that any carbs you don't get from the IP foods come from fibrous veggies. IP takes the guesswork out of figuring out how many carbs you should eat by giving you a comprehensive list of foods that are OK to have on Phase 1. If you stick to the sheet, your body will do the rest :)

Has anyone tried the new Quest protein powder? It's REALLY good! I bought the peanut butter flavor and it tastes great! I made a pancake out of it by using one scoop and adding about a 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, 2 egg whites, a splash of of vanilla and some water to thin out the batter. Pour it in a skillet sprayed with Pam and cooked on medium heat until golden brown and the flip. If you like it sweeter you can add some splenda or stevia to it. I ate it with WF pancake syrup.

They have other flavors too: chocolate, vanilla, strawberries & cream and plain. I was thinking of trying the plain and using the same basic recipe for the pancake to make a wrap/tortilla.

The best part is one scoop of the peanut butter is only 110 calories, 1 gram fat and 1 gram net carb. Each flavor varies slightly but they fit well within the IP guidelines for an unrestricted.

Agreed but so far our tastes seem to be similar. I have provided them with the overall alternative product guidelines so they can choose for themselves. I have provided all sorts of locations as to where to get them and provided a spreadsheet that has all the info compiled so they are well-armed with information and just use my input to taste comparisons as one data point. Having bought boxes of food, they have the luxury of trying the packet from me for themselves without having to wait on an order.

It is true that everyone's tastes are different and definitely true that tastes change while on IP. Going back to things you didn't like at the beginning is always a good idea especially if you can't trade them.

I much prefer protidiet vanilla shake to IP. Vanilla flavour is much more real. I lived on IP vanilla before and now I can't stand it. The IP wafers are way better than The PD vanilla ones I tried. I don't love the white cheddar or bbq crisps from PD although if I never had IP crisps they would satisfy the need to crunch. PD has "pizza".

And for what it is worth, I bought the vanilla meal replacement for P4 and it is nothing like the P1. It makes me gag.

Thanks for sharing that.
In addition, I tried the Proti-Snax Toast and Proti-Thin Fusili this week, and I recommend both. For the toast, I used 1/2 packet and put in my soup like crackers and used other half to put in my turkey salad like croutons. I enjoyed both.
And, Fusili easily replaces the rotini for me (as long as it doesn't become out of stock again).

They have 22g protein in a serving.

lisa32989 01-24-2015 11:36 AM

I've been making cookies out of the peanut butter quest powder.

It's weird. When I go to the website, in one spot it says the powder has 23 g protein per scoop and other spots it says 22.

Either way, I've been using approx 3/4 of a scoop to get those grams under 20 since IP is a moderate protein program, I don't want to go overboard. On exercise days, I'll use a whole scoop.

Scorbett is right - this is a no-no. But, you an easily make your own with Bragg cider vinegar, olive oil, and splenda or stevia. And, you can mix it to suit your taste.

Just remember, the vinegar does make a difference - do not buy the cheap stuff. Bragg's is the best IMO.

I like the vanilla quest powder, but I notice it really fluffs up in the blender. I get a lot more volume (and air) with this. Just be prepared to get a big cup. Ordered the peanut butter, but it hasn't arrived yet.
