Does anyone know of a link or a listing of the IP packets and their nutritional contents? I am trying to use alternative products this time around, but no longer have the boxes that listed the nutritional info. I want to compare different protein powders to the IP ones that I was using.

YankeeFan, I don't have this for you and I didn't buy powders from IP so I don't have any boxes or packets laying around. But, I do buy ready to drink from EAS Carb Control. I think the taste is okay and I can find them just about anywhere (Target, my local grocery store). Also, I think a number of people have started using the new Quest powder. If you look those up it might give you a starting point.

The Quest protein powders are nice (and they make awesome pancakes, crepes and waffles provided you don't overcook them). They are a mix of 80% whey and 20% casein. This is good for overnight, as the whey is a fast breakdown and the casein a slower breakdown protein. They have the benefit of not being ultra sweet and they come with a recipe booklet which is more geared towards maintenance. If you are lactose intolerant these may be problematic as the casein is milk-based. They can be tough to blend, need to shake vigorously for a few minutes. :)

1 scoop 30g = 110 cals, 1g fat, 190mg sodium, 2g carbs, 1g fiber, 23g protein

The Chocolite ones are slightly sweeter and only 5 flavours, but they are all very tasty. Can order online from HealthSmartFoods. All whey based. Can be made with less water for a really frothy shake texture. They blend easily with little shaking.

2 scoop = 150 cals, 3g fat, 40mg sodium, 8g carbs, 5g fiber, 24g protein

GNC amplified wheybolic extreme 60 (whey, again) Great flavours, but they don't make milkshake thickness shakes. Blend easily though.

1 scoop = 93 cals, 0g fat, 83mg sodium, 2g carbs, 0g fiber, 20g protein

Hope this helps on the protein powder front! :)

There is a breakdown of what you need to look for in terms of nutritional info on the first post in this thread, but for quick reference, something IP compatible will have:

under 120 calories for unrestricted, up to 200 calories for restricted
under 9g net carbs for unrestricted, up to 15 net carbs for restricted
(15-17g net carbs is ok for super-restricted, only once per week)
30% or less calories from fat
at least 15g protein

So i'm trying to do IP with all alternative products. I went and bought a couple different things to try out since taste is big with me. This morning i'm trying the Pure Protein Banana Cream ready to drink shake. It has 150 calories, 1 gram of fat, 1 gram of carb, and 35g of protein. Will this work on plan because it is really delicious?

I looked up the label - it's only 10 calories from fat so it looks good! The calories are a little bit higher than what an unrestricted should be, but not so much that it should cause a problem.

I did notice that it's sweetened with Ace-K, really far down the ingredient list so not much of it, but something to be aware of. It's a sweetener that can cause problems for some people with a sensitivity, so just something to be aware of and watch out for.

Thanks scorbett1103, I think i'm going to try to treat it as restrictive best I can. I saw they have shakes that are smaller with only 110 calories online so maybe those would be better for my morning shake. If they taste like this one, i should be set!

Also note that it's about double the protein of an IP item.

There are other Pure Protein products.
The ones I have purchased at Trader Joes aren't as high in protein as those particular ones are (can't remember exactly as it's been a while since I've purchased - maybe 21g from my cursory Google search).

There are also ones in a bottle that are 23 g protein.

Back in my weightlifting days. http://truenutrition.com/
I used to use this service and another site like it. I would buy customized blend bulk protein by the pounds and it would be in food safe bags and then I would put it in storage containers.
100% custom protein profiles. Custom flavorings and I used always get some unflavored whey in my order to use like a pancake batter and also have extra different favor kits to flavor my protein when it gets mixed. Vanilla and unflavored are that far apart. Surprisingly a good source whey unflavored is very palatable.
Casein is another story. GAG even the primo qualities.

Another great source for a pure protein that is less of a processed sourced and can be easily added to many types of meal or drink to boost the protein. http://www.amazon.com/Great-Lakes-Un.../dp/B001ELLBJS My wife puts it in her coffee in the AM. They have other products also but we use the unflavored gelatin.

ProtiThin Anytime Drinks

Good morning. Wanted to place my first order with Nashua today. I've read through all the Alternatives threads but have a quick question I can't recall noting: I know the ProtiThin Anytime Vanilla drink is supposed to be identical to IP's -- is the same true of the Chocolate one? And how about the Cappucino drink mix packets? Thanks to anyone who can confirm.

lisa32989 02-13-2015 07:08 AM

Mimi
Last time I did a label comparison the anytime drinks were identical to IP. I found many packets that fit protocol but none identical

Mimi47 02-13-2015 09:53 AM

Thank you, Lisa!!!

What line of Nashua is best for IP compliance? protediet, they have several?
My wife is paleo as will I when done, grain and dairy free. She is having breakfast issues. She isn't on IP, no weight issues. She can't handle a paleo breakfast. It has to mimic a SAD breakfast but not cause her internal issues including insulin spike. And grains knock her for a loop in general. She has been using a sprouted nut mix and also coconut flakes with Almond milk to mimic a cereal but lack of diversity is wearing.
How this connects to the IP board?
I figured save some money get some Nashua for her and myself. Getting her some diversity that may not cause her issues by getting some products that take into consideration insulin. We aren't sure how she respond to the soy, etc. But worth a shot.
