Calling all June Starters!
Hello all!
I'm brand new to this forum and plan to start IP soon. I'm scheduled to go to the information seminar this Saturday morning. I'm going to either start Saturday, Wednesday or next Saturday. I'm still debating. :dizzy: Anyway, I'd love to get a group going of June starters b/c support is sooo important in this journey. I need support but I also love to give support! So...let's get to know each other!! :D -Christine |
Hi,
I am planning to start tomorrow. I was also looking for someone who are starters like me. Have you started yet? |
There is a Newbie thread with a lot of people that started in May. There is also a May thread. And of course the Daily. So if you're feelin' lonely here, check one of those out. There are lots of new people around -- brand new and restarters. Welcome neighbour! (I'm east of T.O.)

Thanks IP43. East Toronto? Around Oshawa?

June Starter
Hi.
I started on Tuesday of this week. So far so good. T |
Tcbsoc---- Yes finally!!!! Ok so you are four days ahead of me. My coach said that second day I could have headaches because of sugar withdrawal and could continue for the third day as well. Told me to take Tylenol and Advil. Did u go through something similar?
|
I just started June 10th in advance of my 40th high school reunion which is in August. So far so good. Just found this forum this week and have so far found it to be a great source of info.
|
I'm a June starter- I started 6/24, this is a reboot for me. So far, so good! Good like at your info session OP!
|
You'll find the best support group right in the day chat. We all have our different struggles but are united in the fact that were all following the same plan
|
Hi Bull.
Yes I definitely had a bad day or two this week. The headaches weren't too bad for me. This is my second go around on the program, so everything will settle down in a few days. I found this week that coffee caused me serious problems. I normally drink a lot of coffee, like 4/5 cups a day. I was getting this real bad headache, starvation, low blood sugar symptoms going on Wed/Thurs. Things were much better on Friday. Hang in there. You can do it. The best part is that you will lose some serious weight. This diet is no joke and it works much faster than any other diet I have used. Stick with it for a month and you will be shocked at the results. I dropped to under 200 at xmas time and then had an incredibly busy Spring. This resulted in weight gain and I was back at 226 in June (I'm 6'2 and a guy so 26 is easy to put on). I won't make this mistake again though. Stick with it!!! T |
Hi all. I started IP 6/20 and had my first WI yesterday. I honestly didn't feel too bad at all. I had several gatherings involving food and made it through. My best advice is to plan ahead. I now pack food just in case. I love the daily thread. People here are so inspirational and supportive. Good luck everyone!
|
Yeah!!! A June starters thread!!! I started June 12th and have been sticking with it 100%. I went for a long walk today and had so much energy. I held myself back from doing too much but I definitely feel like I'm going to incorporate walking into my daily routine.
The first week was tough but I don't feel like I've gone without since then. My first WI I was down 5.8 lbs and my second WI I was only down 1.2. It's my TOM so I am going to hope the small loss on week two is accounted for from that. 7 lbs in two weeks is not too shabby. |
I started June 19 and did my first weight last week. Down 10 so far. I am sticking to it 100% and being creative with my meals so not to get bored :) energy took over a week to show but I have a 17 mos old that never sleeps all night :).

Welcome to all the June starters. It looks like you have a nice little group of people who started the same time. It's nice to see so many people each month making positive efforts for their health  |
First day today. Had herb omelette for breakfast . It was ok but filling. I miss having tea in the morning. It says on the sheet optional we can have tea. Does that mean either tea or the IP breakfast? Or I can have both?
For lunch had two cups of cucumber and the chocolate wafer. Yummy!!!! For dinner I'm fixing a chicken breast. I am used to Indian cooking and have never baked. This one will definitely be a challenge! |
You can have your tea and your breakfast IP pack, Bull. Just don't get too carried away, lol or you will need to drink extra water to counteract the caffeine ;). The optional part is the tiny bit of milk in your tea if you drink it that way, no sugar though - only stevia or splenda. There is a thread called Indians on IP but you may have to look several pages back to find it - I have posted a bit on there and there are some good recipe ideas too for some Indian style IP ok'd food.

Week 4 and going strong!
I began week 1 on June 4. I have tried a lot of diets and have always been one of those people who loses a half pound at a time, in a good week. As of my third IP weigh in, I have lost 12 pounds! And I feel great! I have been able to attend social events and eat out without deviating from the protocol.
Have others planned for vacations? http://www.3fatchicks.net/img/bar097...120/165.2/.png |
napagirl - welcome and congrats on the great losses! That is outstanding! And hooray for being able to navigate your social events successfully, it took me a while to get the hang of doing that.
There have been several vacation planning threads lately that were full of great ideas - there was one about Disneyworld planning that was super. I bumped that and the road warrior threads for you - so many good tips! |
Thanks liana. I think I will have tea every other day. Will try it without milk and just use the sweetener (tiny bit).. Can I have this tea in the evening instead of morning because that could stop the head aches for me.
Day 2 - was anticipating a headache but so far I'm good. I'm just concerned about my routine now that it's summer holidays. we wake late so breakfast is also late which pushes lunch and dinner too. Would this effect me when school begins and the timings for breakfast changes from 11am to 8:30 am? And for lunch and dinner too. Last night I had a headache and did not feel well. Not that I was hungry I think the chocolate wafer caused it. Could it be the sugar rush? Or my body missing the tea. |
Bull, I just know the first few days are tough for your body to adjust (getting all the carbs and sugars out and switching over to an alternate energy source aka burning fat). I don't think you got a sugar rush from any IP foods - including the chocolate wafer (it only has 5g of sugar in it after looking up the nutrition). I was really 'foggy' and tired the first few days. I just went to bed early so I wouldn't be attempted to graze. Since that initial period wore off, I feel great.
I drink tea in the afternoon some days and have a sleepy time tea I drink at night every now and again. I don't drink tea in the morning, and I don't think that using more morning tea allotment for an afternoon or night tea is a bad thing. |
Hi all ... I started on June 16th .. so far 8 pounds down.. my goal is to lose 40 pounds in the next couple months..
I love the support here .. y ' all are doing fabulous :) |
Hello, Pixie!! I started June 12th and am 7 lbs down so far. I have a goal of losing 25 lbs by September 1st and 50 by year end. I feel so good about this diet and how I am feeling and the support and tips here are amazing!
|
Hi there! I started IP on 6/23 and have my first weigh in tomorrow.
It is so great to find other people following the same plan! Week one has been better than expected although day one ended with tears wondering what in the world I'd gotten myself into. Subsequent days have been better and I never seemed to hit that wall I was warned about....which makes me wonder if I've been doing it right all week. :?: Guess I will find out tomorrow. Spent much of the week looking for recipes online which is how I found this site! Can't wait to share experiences and support each other. |
CenTXChk-- I love your avatar! :D
|
Just a little reminder for tea drinkers :coffee2:, there are all kinds of herbal teas that are OK for IP'ers too. Some of my favourites are Apple Cinnamon Spice, Black Cherry Berry, True Blueberry, and at night - Sleepytime Vanilla. Those are all Celestial Seasonings. I also like Licorice Spice, and Lemon Ginger by Stash Teas. The licorice spice is like very strong black licorice Nibs and also helps blood sugars - my DH was told about it by our MD. You might want to check that one out with your pharmacist if you take any meds as it can react with some things or be contraindicated in some health problems.

Happy Monday everyone! Hope your weekend went well. I love the variety of fresh vegetables that are available this time of year. The recipe ideas on this site have been really helpful. Keep going. Can't wait for all of our "after" pictures!
|
Just went through detox
I started last Friday (June 27) and my coach told me to expect withdrawal symptoms over the next 3 days (hunger, headaches, fatigue). I experienced some mild detox symptoms on the 2nd day but hopefully I'll be in ketosis today!

end of week 4
I had a slip up this weekend and drank from the sinful wine glass. Trying not to beat myself up anymore about it and not finishing my first month with a 20lb loss. I had reached it on Sat morning then I think the wine must have set me back over 2lbs.
I keep thinking, regardless, when on any other diet that I have been on, did I loose 17 lbs in a month?! NEVER Lesson learned, back on track. Lets see what July brings. First month on IP and down 17. That is something to be proud of! Good luck June started for July! |
Lala- don't beat yourself up. You can only look forward. Congrats on a good month!
AFM- wroking on finishing my first week. Weigh in on Wednesday. I know I have lost a TON of water, I can see it in my ankles and feel it in my joints already. |
Lala - You got this right.. 17 pounds is a big deal.. dont beat yourself up..
So.. I am not a tea drinker.. but I bought Organic Green tea from Trader Joe's this weekend. Tried some today and it was ok... may be I will get used to it after a while.. Just wondering if it is ok to drink Green tea (may be I could add some lemon) .. Had to stay back late in the office and I ended up having the brocoli and spinach soup from Panera .. definitely over the carb limit today.. hoping it wouldnt effect my loss for the week.. planning to eat all unrestricted the rest of the week.. :( |
yippie for June starters! I started on the 8th :) how is everyone doing? Happy IP OP days!!
|
Just tried the Cinnamon Apple Tea and it reminded me of drinking red hots.
I'll stick with the Detox Tea (Vanilla taste) or my Extra SleepyTime Tea. |
kissi - your avatar gives me a double take every time I see it. I have to really think about what it is. I won't even tell you what my brain "sees" some times.LOL
