Switching to Alternative To IP

I have received a small first order from the Protein Store and it seems close to IP. I appreciate the posts I have read leading me to various replacement products especially the EAS Carb Control drinks from Advantage.

I am really in a plateau I get hungry and cravings ugh gained back a few then lost and then one pound on then lost three.

I am really having binging urges I have never had before. So far I have lost approx. 75 lbs. 299 lbs down to now 230. My A1c is now 5.5 and I take no diabetic meds now. I am off of Oxygen after 7 years!

The last thing I want to do is gain any weight back. Also, can't afford to continue to pay the IP price. I have been on for a year.
Any suggestions welcome.:?: ugh.

Have you tried the Health Wise Protein Chips from the The Protein Store on the web? This is Ranch Crunch.
(Cal 130, Fat 4g, SFat 0.5g, Carbs 15- 5 fiber =10 net carbs, Sugars 3g, Protein 10g.)
Potato Flakes rice soy dairy and may contain wheat. They are really good and much cheaper than the Soy Crisps from IP.

One reviewer said sea salt was best and if you were on a diet they would satisfy a craving. He thought the sour cream were awful. The other guy thought the chips were amazing and his personal preference was BBQ. I'd love to hear from fellow IPers. Personally I have never enjoyed the baked Lays so don't have a lot of hope. I figure I will hold out for regular chips on my fun days.

Sorry I am a newbie so don't miss my post about the Protein Store Chips.:)

I order them all the time from Nashua a Nutrition... Ranch, salt and vinegar, BBQ and my FAVORITE - pizza!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was looking at those Proti-Thin wafers the other day and they seem to be too high in the fat and calorie ratio:

Nutritional Facts
Serving Size: 1 Packet (41.9g) Servings Per Container: 5
Amount Per Serving
Calories 210 Calories from Fat 90

Total Fat 9g
Saturated Fat 6g
Trans. Fat 0g
Cholesterol 0mg
Sodium 80mg
Potassium 0mg
Total Carbohydrate 13g
Dietary Fiber 1g
Sugars 5g
Sugar Alcohol 0g
Protein 15g
Iron 2% (2,000 Calorie Diet)
Vitamin A 0% (2,000 Calorie Diet)
Vitamin C 0% (2,000 Calorie Diet)
Calcium 2% (2,000 Calorie Diet)

When I do the fat calculation 90 x3 =270 so the fat calories are more than 30% and over the total calorie amount.

I saw this in the chocolate soy puffs as well. Those were two of my fav IP snacks but I didn't get any because of this.

Cat lady
Those are very similar to IP products. IP has 200 cal in the wafers and 81 cal from fat. Restricted products are higher than nonrestricted products in fat, calories, carbs

I just received my first order from Nashua. Wow, the chips are amazing. The only thing I noticed is that there isn't any potassium added to theirs as opposed to IP's. I don't take my potassium pills because they give me headaches. I mentioned it to the dr and she just said don't take them then but there is nothing physically stopping me. So now that I see some of these products don't have the potassium I am a bit worried. Doctor was no help. I'm guessing I should try potassium again in case maybe it was the ketosis giving me a headache. Anyone have this issue?

Okay, this might seem like a stupid question, but what item would you replace with the chips? An IP breakfast item? An IP lunch item? A snack?

I just don't know if they would be filling enough to have as breakfast or lunch, and I'm guessing they wouldn't be nearly as satisfying as a Quest bar as a snack. ;)

I would only use them maybe one per week but really maybe one every other week. There are lots of less caloric and higher fat restricted, so I would consider this more of a once in awhile item.

I got the Mocha ones and they were SUPER SUPOER sweet... and I am a fan of sweet, but this was a real sugary sweet... I prefer dark chocolate/mocha type flavors. I put mine in the freezer and had a bit every now and again, but couldn't make it a whole meal!

I find them to be just about as filling as the drinks, the IP salty snacks (zippers, soy, etc), bars, etc.... I find I am more satisfied when really hungry with something like chili or soup, but overall I have been fine with the chips for lunch and snack. I tend to be more traditional for bfast, so while I can have them, I choose to have a more "breakfast" food then chips!

Catlady:
Those wafers look delish, I didn't order any though I've thought about it a bazillion times..the fat content doesn't fit in with the requirements is what has held me back.
I WILL however order some of the white cheddar crisps (I really like them) and the Health Smart Carmel bars. ;)

If you compare to fat content of IP wafers, it is similar

Pasta?

https://www.nashuanutrition.com/stor...lli-7-box.html

I have been using 3/4 of a package of the proti-thin pasta mixed with veggies for lunches for a while now. I just went to order more and it is marked as indefinitely unavailable. I stopped going to my clinic in December, so I would have to find the IP Rotini on ebay to purchase it and I liked the proti-thin version better.

Is there any other pasta that people are eating (other than miracle noodles)?

darthkitten 08-07-2014 11:36 AM

Has anyone tried the Level Life bars & shakes? Target has them on a really good sale right now and I'm switching to alternates this weekend. The nutritional info seems in line, but I did notice a couple bars had maltitol in them. I've read through all the alternative threads and saw this come up a couple times, but never found the reason as to why it should be avoided?

I'm new here and wanted to switch to alt products for both money and health reasons, I've learned SO much from these alt threads but I'm REALLY nervous about hurting my losses so far. Appreciate everything you guys post! Makes me realize how unhelpful my coach really was...

Wahoofan:
Nuts...sorry to hear the proti-thin pasta in unavailable for the foreseen future...I really liked it..ALOT. :(

I'm not really a fan of the miracle noodles to be quite honest either. I did a search of noodles on Nashua nutrition and didn't see anything that was comparable. I also didn't find any online doing a search. Boo!

I'm sorry...I too loved those noodles.
