Another alternative pancake option...

Look for Maple Grove Farms SUGAR FREE pancake/waffle mix found in the grocery store. Near Bob's Red Mill and gluten free products. $3.99 a box... Just use 1/3 cup mix with water to get batter consistency. No need to add egg or oil! Serve with Walden Farms maple or blueberry syrup.

For oatmeal, consider the UN restricted ProtiDiet oatmeal (I get mine from Nashua Nutrition in the giant container). Sometimes I do half oatmeal and half pancake mix (above) to make pancakes.

I thought the egg is what helped it have the proper amount of protein. I will need to look at the nutrition info again and see if it is referring to the dry mix or the prepared.

The nutrition info is based on dry mix. However I will amend of say I do sometimes add an egg white if I am a bit hungrier or if I know I am having lighter packets that day.

Made with 2 heaping tbs of my pro pow with 1 whole egg the 3 pancakes were 125 cals, 2 carbs, 4 fat (29%), & 20 protein. The recipe made 4, but eating only 3 I thought fit in the guidelines. I am so new at this, would like your feedback before I continue to make them and mess up my weight loss!

You're doing great! You could measure less pro powder so you can make what you eat. Maybe 2 level Tbsp?

Check the recipe thread. I make my pancakes & muffins with added shredded zucchini. It really helps the consistency. Yum!

Would work well, esp if you're using other alt products that are a tad low in protein (some Nashua has 12 g protein, rather than the 15 IP averages)

Made oatmeal this morning and was really enjoying it even though it was a tad runny....the phone rang and when I got up to answer it, I knocked the bowl over onto the floor...UGH! I guess my day can only go up from here lol.

I will definitely be ordering the chips! thanks!

FYI-I also noticed over the weekend that Natural Grocers carries Quest bars for $2.16 (may vary in other states). It can be a pain to get to a GNC/Vitamin Shoppe sometimes.

Have no ideal how to copy and paste a "quote" or I would have for lisa32989 response to my post earlier.

Thank you lisa32989 for the kudos & suggestion for using level tbsp. of protein powder.

For those doing Quest Bars, make sure they meet the IP dietary guidelines. Some of them do and some of them have too high of a fat to calorie ratio. I LOVE the choc chip cookie one but it is borderline to too high in fat, so I use it as a super restricted and my "weigh in day" treat after my appointment.

I believe the coconut cashew and white choc raspberry are also too high (doing this from memory though). I use the brownie one, double chocolate, cookies n cream, cinnamon roll, strawberry cheesecake, chocolate peanut butter. The apple pie one also meet requirements but isn't my fav so I don't waste a restricted on that one. I put a little WF chocolate sauce on a heated strawberry cheesecake bar today and had a VERY nice treat!

I didn't know these were to high in fat. I just bought a whole box of them and honestly don't even like them. They are too sweet for me. I have to use them because I can't waste the money but guess I need to limit to once a week. The sales guy at GNC talked me into them saying they were soo good. I prefer the brownie the most.

They aren't all too high in fat. Only avoid the ones with more than 30% fat.
Which flavor of Quest bars did you get?

There is a great Quest bar thread
Here is some info from the thread:

Each one of these bars has a slightly different ingredient/nutritional profile. Choc/Peanut Butter and Strawberry Cheesecake are the 160 cals, both 5 g fat & 8 net carbs. Lowest of all the Quest bars.

The Quest Bars that don't work (based on fat content) or would be Super Restricted:
Vanilla Almond Crunch,
Mixed Berry Bliss,
Peanut Butter Supreme,
Peanut Butter & Jelly,
White Chocolate Raspberry,
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

All of the other Quest bars would be restricted. There are two that fall right on the edge between restricted & non (Choc Peanut butter & Strawberry Cheesecake). Fat cals are under 1/3 (but not way under) and they both have 8 g carbs. I'd still personally use them as restricted.

The Quest Chips look like they have better numbers than the IP Chips. I may order some of these to save a little money on my IP foods. Plus, I LOOOOOOVE Cheddar and Sour Cream.

They must have recently reformulated the Coconut Cashew because now they are 170 calories and 50 calories from fat - same stats as the Banana Nut Muffin!

They seem to adjust the nutritional stats periodically (hopefully because they reformulated the product to match!)

Wow! they must have.
I amended my post. Please delete the quote so people don't get confused!
