I think I have been playing a little too fast and loose with my veggie portions. This week I have recommitted to measuring and erring on the side of caution. I just like veggies too darn much! Also, making a point to drink even more water. I was getting more than the 64 oz, but I was definitely drinking less than when I first started the program. It's been good to do a little bit of assessment on if I am really doing everything by the book.
It's great to see everyone's accomplishments!
Monica, I totally understand what you're saying. I know I'm already thinking ahead to summer and while I'm grateful that my arms and legs will not be so chunky, I'm definitely self-conscious about my ghostly paleness. I am transparent. Luckily I live in Alaska and everyone else is, too.
I am also grateful for you guys here and in other threads talking about just accepting that the process will take as long as it takes. I have been mentally struggling with that. I have a fun camping trip planned Memorial Day weekend, and was hoping to be at goal and phasing off, but that doesn't seem likely right now. But I know I can go on the trip and still eat on plan. And I have a 10k race the third week in June that I really want to participate in. Again, I was hoping to be phasing off and able to train. I'm now realizing that it is reasonable to train for that race while on P1...other people have done similar things. And that it will slow down my losses, but that is okay. I don't want to miss out on the experience. Last year I didn't do it because I was too fat. This year, I will probably be slow, but I will do it without feeling inferior.
I just bought the butterscotch pudding for the first time last week. That may have been what tipped me over the edge as I had 4 of the packets between Friday and yesterday.
I have a list so you don't have to read every label, unless you've already done so

And we will be here cheering you on!
You can always check-in with LizRR if you have questions about training for the race while on P1. She is definately the running/IP guru!
What is the difference between this thread and just the daily chat thread?
People in this thread recognize that while there will always be an excuse to eat something "off plan", there is also always a way to avoid eating off plan. These folks are doing the program "by the book" (actually..."by the sheet" ) and do not eat foods that are not allowed during phase 1.
The Daily Thread often has posts from people who have eaten off plan for one reason or another, and are looking for reassurance, advice, sympathy, etc. I'm not judging, because everyone's journey is different. But this is the land of "where there's a will, there's a way" and you won't find people talking about off plan wanderings.
Oh yeah! I am tired of hearing about people cheating because I don't want to even think that is an option...I made the commitment and won't cheat because I know I deserve better. May I hang out here too ?

What is the 100% consensus on flavorings/extracts. I'm limited on my local availability for alcohol free flavorings. The only one I found is vanilla, and it has glycerin in it which my understand is sort of like a sugar alcohol in that it is not metabolized like sugar is. I have some mint extract and I want to make a shamrock shake with some vanilla pudding and ice. Part of me says the amount of alcohol is really tiny and part of me is going . I am guessing I would use less than a 1/2 tsp. I want it to be a hint of mint, not toothpaste flavored.
What are people's thoughts? a) Yay? b) Nay? c) I'm a silly goose?

(Sorry, that was just fun!)
My particular coach says extracts are 0/0/0 and we use so little not to worry.

The more the merrier! We've "lost" some to the maintainers thread (yes, 100%ers get to goal!!!). And FYI, 100% can still mean using alt products that fit the IP profile.
We also have some folks who are struggling but they don't talk about their non-100% eating on this thread. This is my "safe" place where I know I can come and hear it CAN be done!
Happy Thursday night everyone. Glad to be starting a long weekend!
I went to a cooking demonstration with Chef Verati a couple nights ago, which was quite interesting. He is quite funny and enthusiastic. He demonstrated a few different cooking ideas and techniques, all for phase 1, and using IP products. I am going to try the crepe for the first time, and it was interesting that he was using it as a wrap for veggies and protein. He also used the mango drink for a bit of a kick to veggies and shrimp. It was really good! He also suggests blanching some veggies when you get home from the grocery store, so that they are ready to add to any recipe throughout the week. I'm not that organized, but could see it working for asparagus and peppers. I have also never cooked with bok choi, but I'm going to try it out. So overall, a successful evening. I feel excited about some new cooking ideas!
I am proud to say that I am in my 4th week and down 20 pounds! The BIGGEST victory for me is that I haven't cheated one bit- that has never happened for me on a diet, ever. I feel so confident in myself and my ability to stay in control. Thanks for all the positiveness on this thread!
