Have either of you looked at the hormone diet? I am unsure which one would be better...maybe I will read both...
I think the Carb Sensitivity one evolved from the hormone diet one. I would go with the Sensitivity one unless you are like me and find it annoying to use food books electronically.
I do have the book in hard copy. I went to visit friends in Vancouver last week sans children (this never happens) and I wanted to indulge in a book at the airport. I was perusing the table of books that they had on display and this one was front and center. Of course with a title like 'Carb Sensitivity Program' it screamed at me to pick it up and as I skimmed through it I realized that it was a must read.
Patns- I absolutely agree with you. This is the type of book you need in hardcopy. I'm forever switching from the recipe section to the program to the supplements and this is difficult even with a book let alone trying to do it electronically.
Yikes- hi everyone. Haven't posted in awhile and the reason is of course I am struggling. Was so easy when I went through the phases initially but have in all reality struggled since the holidays when I gave myself permission to indulge. I do great for 2 days, then eat everything not tied down for 2. Up 10 pounds. Really need to get back in the game- do not understand why this is so difficult since I feel so much better when I eat well and am lighter. Good grief the psychology behind eating is moe than I can bear lately. Eating is such a brief pleasure- I just don't understand why I and so many struggle so much.
I'm nowhere near maintaining yet, but I was wondering, do you guys have to keep buying the IP products for the day after the "cheat day"? If you don't, then what do you eat so it's like a phase 1 day?
I use proti diet from Nashua, EAS shakes from Walmart, some of the Atkins bars are close to IP. You definitely don't have to use IP products.
:/ that sucks because I doubt I'll be buying them for my entire life since they don't even sell them here, I'm doing IP on the go because we have no clinic here
I am not using IP packets on Phase 1 day. I just go back to a zero carb breakfast..no fruit, no bread, no fat..have egg whites..I keep the rest of the day the same. Once in a while I have a packet.

Determined: I am still studying my Sugar the Hidden Addiction book. What it does is make you look at your past and reflect on patterns and responses. It strongly suggests that addictive behavior is carried down by your families..physically with carb sensitivity and emotionally with learned behaviors. You look at your parents, grandparents, relatives..and study their behaviors and illnesses. Then you look at yourself and analyze your life , past and present.
It has been helpful to me to learn about myself.
I certainly have learned that I was never taught self management skills in terms of response to stress. I also realized that I have been dealing with these addictive behaviors my entire life.
My son told me that he does not remember me overeating, but rather grew up with always seeing me on a diet and measuring things. Thank heavens he did not see or remember the overindulgences. He did see me yo-yo in weight.
It is a struggle to learn about yourself. I hope this week goes well for you and the scale starts going down.

Cap: I am glad your program with carb sensitivity is so successful! I found that eating some of those high carb and high fiber which had net low carbs, increased my blood sugar.
I have realized that being too full is a trigger for me..even if I am eating vegetables. If I feel too full after a meal..I lapse into..I feel fat..and I am going to gain this weight back. I try to tell myself..that is ridiculous as you weigh 125 and are not fat. However, I think I tap into old old triggers of bingeing and feeling way way too full.

Hey Determined....I'm struggling just the same and for me...time for a re-boot. I just have to say that out loud. As beat up as I feel...10 pounds to go is still miles better than 30. Jeez...I don't know what I'd do if it got back to that again. So I'm going to order some product and do a 3 week reboot with quick phase off for a wedding I'm hosting June 14. Let's stay in touch AND everyone else who wants to kick my behind...please chime in. I can take it. Argghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes. Get back on it now. Don't let 10 become 20...
I struggled to lose the 13 pounds I gained in December. But am glad I sucked it up and started jan 2. Otherwise things could have really derailed!
I find the key to success is not letting yourself get too hungry. I do this on the weekends and then start picking at the crackers, pretzels, etc that I have for the kids.
Ok, I have to ask...do any of you believe in this waking your pancreas?
I believe ip helps reduce fatty liver, which helps with insulin resistance, but I don't believe the pancreas rests or reawakens as even with a low carb diet insulin is released when we eat.
Am I wrong??

Well you know that I have had issues with that concept. Once I started adding the carbs back in as outlined it was off to the races with rapid weight gain. But i am likely far more carb sensative that most people. So I just had to transition off my own way.
That's why I love the war on insulin blog. He compares himself to his wife. I also believe I am very carb sensitive. He is an intense athlete and still found himself gaining weight.

Sunny & Determined- come join us in the reboot thread! Yes, it is hard getting started again, but like Mom said, don't let 10 become 20! I have been 1 week back at P1 and feel so much better already. It hasn't been perfect and it has been a struggle, but I have stayed away from the carbs and feel 100% better for it.
So would any of you be willing to share the titles of your favorite cook books? I'm certain some of you have purchased some low carb recipe books and would love to know some of your recommendations.

I do the same thing on my P1 day: egg whites in the morning, P2 lunch and dinner. So far it works for me.
