Finally enjoyed a good night of sleep! The ladies (my wife and daughter) are at the hair salon, so I have been in bed revamping my MyFitnessPal account. I have been through two IP Daily Journals, and ready to move back to my online /iPhone account. Daily nutritional goals for IP?
Had a great treadmill session last night (30 minutes, 306 calories), and will have another one later. Hopefully, my wife will join me this time.
I have been thinking a lot about the discussion on the carb counts. Also the fact that lots of people avoid the 1 restricted a day we can have.
I am losing very slowly but steadily. My coach seems to take a different approach than many. First she says it is understandable that I am losing slowly as I am post menopausal and I have been on diets all my life. (I was 204 pounds when I turned 50 ten years ago; I can't stress enough how important it is to get the weight off before menopause; it is soooo much harder after).
But one thing my coach does carefully is go over my sheet and checks that I am getting ALL the vegetables in. She says if you skimp on the veggies you are not getting enough to eat and weight loss slows down.
I have been on so many different types of diets. The low carb ones are the only type that work for me, I actually gain on WW. The usual design of the low carb diets is that you have 0 carbs for a number of day , then go in stages of adding them back. I have always lost weight on the first phases but when I introduced even the least amount of carbs (e.g 2nd phase SB), the weight I lost plus more was instantly back.
I am much more optimistic that I will be able to maintain my loss on this plan because my body is getting used to tiny bits of carbs throughout the day. Each new phase will not be a shock to my body and I am hopeful I will be able to maintain because to me it is as much about gradually retraining my body as to how I will eat for the rest of my life than it is about losing weight instantly.
Sorry for the long winded reply but this is something I think about every time someone mentions their coach is counting the carbs in the "on protocol" veggies and doesn't allow the restricted items as outlined in the protocol sheet. I think this is still following the old deprivation model of weight loss. We are actually retraining our bodies on how it is going to be from now on right from stage 1, not just in the final stages. For most of us the body has to learn how to handle carbs not how to live with an extremely limited number of them.
Pat
Good morning, all! I just got back from my WI and I lost 4.5 lbs this week!
I am so happy! So now, I'm down a total of 28.5 pounds.
I'm going to go into Phase 2 this week. I've been having some trouble eating the IP food for a couple of weeks so I think a little change up is in order. My coach said it's fine for me to try Phase 2 for a week or so and go back to Phase 1 at any point.
Good morning all,
Going to be a great day here. Up at 4:30am to load the truck and get ready to go rock hounding!!!! Hopefully I will find some really good agates or crystals today. I would love to find a geode. I am picking up a master rock hounder (72 years old) who has found some incredible things. She just showed me her collection of arrowheads the other day. Wow!! That would be awesome to find one of those.
BTW, does anyone have a really good recipe for veggies that is allowed with the IP diet? I'm getting tired of broccoli, cauliflower and celery.
Talk to you all later. I'll let you know if I find something really neat.
I LOVE cool rocks! My dad has trained me to appreciate to beauty in them; I have a number of geodes and amithyst crystals, along with many others. We even had a rock polisher when I was growing up and when we lived in Reno, we would go to crystal peak and hunt for pretty ones. I'm so jealous! Here in Vegas, it is illegal to take anything from Red Rock Canyon, so I can't do that anymore
Well, My WI yesterday yielded 1 pound loss...boohoo. I know, I shouldn't be crying and whining about it, but I have really never lost less than 2 lbs. It was that dreaded english muffin mess up! I learned my lesson. This program is WAY too expensive to be cheating.
As for the Soy Patties...I LOVED them, but another girl that goes to my clinic hated them, lol. I too used a recipe with the caesars WF dressing and lettuce wraps and...hmm it's been a while I actually can't remember what else I put in them...but they ended up tasting delicious!
Hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm off, so I may not be able to get online. (weird, huh? I actually use the computer more at work than at home haha) And I have to babysit tonight, but I am getting my hair done <3 maybe I'll take a new picture. Well, byebye.
Oh there I found it, and its free yay! If you or anyone would like to share what numbers you use for your "values" (or doesn't it let you adjust those settings manually??) that would be so helpful. In any and all of the phases as I know they would be different for each
Has anyone else experienced this? I am about to start my 5th week of IP. First week was great but the next 2-3 were really slow losing weight. I started logging everything and realized that I was only getting about 675 calories per day. I didn't do this at first for fear that I wouldn't be able to handle knowing what I was consuming. Then last Monday I decided to get a cheeseburger, no bun, with broccoli. I hadn't had milk in my coffee that day so I opted for the cheese since I see some readers doing that. The next morning I weighed and had lost a pound. So everyday since, I've added about 80 calories and I've lost over 4 pounds since Monday. My doctor, who is also doing the program, said I was in starvation mode and now I think I believe her. I just hope this won't come back to bite me in the behind. I guess if I'm losing weight it doesn't matter.
BTW, that was the best cheeseburger EVER!!!
And I have hit ONEDERLAND and am not looking back. I haven't seen this number in a LONG time and am so happy to be here! I hope you all have a wonderful day!
Week 1 I lost 6.6 pounds and week 2 I only lost 2 pounds. I know I shouldn't always expect such big loses but it was really disappointing! I use the MyFitnessPal app on my iPhone to log what I eat everyday and it's almost always under 500 calories and it sends me a notification telling me I need to eat more and that I'm unhealthy! I may try your plan and see if it works!
Happy weekend! My alarm clock (read: toddler) woke me at 6:30 this morning. I was not ready to get up, but it's a cool morning before the heat returns, so I'm enjoying the open windows and cool air.
Have seen slower losses in the past couple of days and just looked on the calendar -- TOM time. It's so predictable and so frustrating.
I don't count carbs or calories either -- just eat what's on the list and my packets and trust the process. So far, so good. My coach has said no gum or even sugar free mints, but I had a job interview the other day and bought mini Altoids, because there's nothing worse than walking in with coffee breath.
Anyway, I asked yesterday and didn't see an answer, so I'll ask again -- do any of you ever use miracle noodles and what has been your experience? Did it impact your loss at all? Worth trying?
I have not personally tried the Miracle Noodles, but I have a friend at work who likes them. Would this be for Phase 3 or 4? I think they are low carb because you subtract the fiber.
Check out the WF products thread..There are people using miracle noodles..maybe they could help you.
Good morning everyone. It is beautiful here in the Northwest.although it will hit the 90s this afternoon.
I do not count carbs either and just follow the IP list. I have also found like Pat mentioned that if you lose on 0 carbs like Atkins , when you add carbs, the weight comes back quickly. I think the IP program may avoid this.
I had an excellent banana crispy cereal pancake..add imitation banana extract.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

BRAVO Pat!!!!!!! This is retraining for the rest of our lives. This will hopefully be the last diet I ever go on!! I think when we start worrying about how many carbs are in lettuce we need to take a step back and reevaluate what is best for our bodies.

If I am worrying about the carbs in lettuce and radishes I do need to reevaluate. Silly coach, getting me all uptight about my veggies!

I tend to make initial entries for food via the website first, but that is just a personal preference. You can customize settings.
I was having some weird thoughts sitting here in my office....
So, you know body builders and just generally muscular people? They like...NEVER eat anything delicious. They only eat protien and veggies (which are tasty too, but I'm talking about those splurge foods that you eat and have to go back to phase 1 the next day lol) It makes me think....do you think that any person has the mental capability to not ever want to eat unhealthy, tasty foods? Just drop it completely forever? I was thinking about how much I enjoy food, and the taste...and How being on this diet changes your taste...so can anyone get into that psyche where they just don't ever crave food at all? (This sounds like anorexic people lol)
What do you guys think?

Well what I mean is what you put for your daily calories/carbs/sug/protein etc? I think I will put something like 900 max cal, 45 MAX carbs for right now. I know mfp will be very very handy for PH3 breakfast
