How did you come up with your goal weight? Was it with your coach as just some sort of agreement? Was it based on some height and weight chart? I have not had this conversation with my coach and I'm just wondering if that will happen in the next couple of weeks.
Deena
Hi, Deena,
I based my goal weight on a weight I felt good at in the distant past. Plus it was what my driver's license says I weigh. I also figured up the BMI range I would be considered a healthy weight, and my goal weight fell within that range. A BMI between 20 and 25 is considered healthy. You can find a BMI chart online, plug in your height and see what your own healthy range is. Mine at 5'3" was between 112 and 141 pounds.
Hi all! I have missed so much, I have a lot of reading to do. I went to Texas for a few days and then had to take a work trip, just got home tonight. Being gone, I did not get to weigh this week, my first week to miss a WI since I started in Feb. Ugh!
I have a few NSVs to report. While at my cousin's graduation, a family member I have not seen in 5 years told me I looked like a skinny minnie! If that wasn't exciting enough, some co-workers approached me at my meetings today and told me I looked like I had lost weight, the last time I had seen them was in March and one in April, so, I am feeling pretty good.
Last week I gave a huge garbage bag of too big clothes to my cousin and officially have three pair of capris that fit, and they are on the way to being too big. Have I told you all lately how much I love this way of eating??? Oh yeah! Well, I'm off to catch up, can't wait to see how all of you have been doing!
Calgary...WOO HOO, I see you are less than your hubby now, congrats!
Jordanna...I looked at your new pics, showed my hubby and we agreed you look absolutely georgous! You are so inspiring! ♥
motiv8edmama - doesn't it feel great to get rid of all those clothes, it's a symbol of all your hard work. I've boxed up 3 HUGE boxes of clothes and given them away to a Big Brothers & Big Sisters charity store and though I'm sad at how much my wardrobe has shrunk, it really feels great to say goodbye to a tangible part of the fat kid
Thank you so much for the compliment...I was going to say something self-deprecating but I am trying not to do that anymore so I will just say thank you, I appreciate it
...Every time someone compliments me I find myself saying "oh thanks but I have a long way to go" or "oh thanks, but...<fill in the blank with random self put down"...
Why do I do that? So I'm trying not to anymore, but it's hard when I've had 20+ years to ingrain the behaviour in to my brain.
someone please tell me why even after losing a lot of weight and fitting into a size you always wanted to be in, we still find so many faults in the way we look.
went clothes "browsing" today and tried a lot of stuff on, got into a 6 shorts and a medium shirt but still felt like i didn't look good enough. my gut and arms just make me feel down.
do you think we'll ever be satisfied with how we all look?
Elizabeth, Kelsey & Pita!! Y'all are GORGEOUS!!!!! i LOVE seeing these new pictures, you three are doing an amazing job!!
Jordanna just read your "self depriciating" post-i think me and you are on the same page. i see the scale, i see the pants falling off my butt, i hear the compliments but i CANNOT for the life of me believe them.
hung out with my best friend today, who has finally moved back to texas from new orleans. she's always been a size 1/2 and actually is a hooters girl. i found myself looking at her all afternoon and thinking how i'll never look as great as her. i think being overweight for so long make us really can make us mental sometimes
Just had to share, I had my first official weigh-in - 6.6 lbs gone forever! I'm so happy this morning!
Stacey
CONGRATULATIONS STACEY! excellent job!
DOXIGIRL:

That's soo funny... my license also has my goal weight - i haven't update the weight for at least 20+years. So now I call it my "Target Product Profile"!!

I never thought this would be an issue! I also realize I have an attachment to my clothes! I HATE giving up things I love or that have a strong memory attached. I really dislike that they look sloppy on and I won't wear them and that seems to outweigh my desire to keep them.
Well, off to read awhile. I will try to post when I can!
Carla,
have you thought about getting your clothes altered to fit te new you? It might work for the clothes that you have a hard time parting with!
on another note...
Pretty much the whole world knows I am on this diet (family and friends!), and all I've received are positive comments! One of my co-workers stopped me in the hall way and mentioned "Wow, you are shrinking! how are you doing it?????". Another co-worker may decide to try the IP.. she wants to wait to see how I do. AND, when I tell them that I've lost 11 lbs already, they are genuinely excited and happy! LIFE IS GOOD!
have a wonderful night! Dina

Erin - you should look up the Exposed movement. This girl Miche decided we all need to embrace our bodies instead of always picking at the faults we see in them. As an example you need to change the way you feel about your arms - your arms are beautiful, they are used to pick up your kids and embrace them in love everyday...
It's hard but I think it's all about restructuring the way we think about ourselves and changing our negative self talk in to positive self talk
Just got back from my first weigh in. I am down 5 1/2 pounds!
I have to say that I read the post from Stacey41 before I went, 6.6 lbs gone for week one and I was almost bummed. I am so proud of everyone on this board, but it is hard not to get caught up in the numbers.
Stacey41 - AWESOME!
Anyway, I got in my car, took a mental moment, and thought when else have I ever lost 5 1/2 pounds in one week? I am much better now. Looking forward to the days and weeks to come.
5 1/2 pounds is great, good job!! Nothing to be bummed about at all, keep up the good work!
I've been really light headed the last couple of days, today being the worst...I tested my blood pressure on my dads machine and it was 72 over 54....I tested it three times to make sure it wasn't a mistake.
I called my coach and she told me to up my salt and eat half a package of Chocolate Soy puffs on top of my normal packages...I wouldn't want to argue with my coach...so YUMMY, I'm eating chocolate soy puffs in the middle of the afternoon, what a nice surprise
Has anyone else found their blood pressure getting really low?
Make sure you are also drinking enough water, dehydration sometimes causes low blood pressure.
So, a couple ladies from Best Western just came in and dropped off some chocolates and cookies to thank us for our business...all I can hear from my office is the girls at the front desk going on and on and on about how delicious these cookies are....inconsiderate b!tches! GRRRRR!!!
My mom just dropped off some huge cookies that I won't even describe, it would make us all drool on our keyboards. I just told myself, there will be other cookies other days, just not today!

WOW, that is really amazing not sure if i have the-you know what-to ctually post a pic of myself on there quite yet, but you are so right.
here's to looking at my arms as strong and able to pick up my kiddos, swing them around and hug them all day long. and my gut-well..it's got a ways to go, but you are so incredibley right-it's been there since before my kids-but it did do a wonderful job of keeping them safe and warm in utero.
thank you again jordanna-like i've told you before, you are a very speical member on here and should look up trying to become a coach yourself soon

Ha - believe me, I don't think I'll be able to post a picture of myself like that...maybe ever but the idea behind it is what is so powerful. Everyday I try to look at myself and see the strength in my body rather than the areas I'd rather shy away from...slowly but surely I really hope that I'll be able to be happy with myself the way I am.
