First off, good job for making it through week 1!! Next, don't stress. Just explain it was TOM and they will get it. ALSO, when did you weigh? Keep in mind that we don't eliminate all our food in a day and if you are really well hydrated you will weigh in more until your body flushes that out. I can change 5 pounds just from 9am to 7pm! It is all from the water I drink. :)

Thanks!! I hope to get better results over the next 2 days before my 1st weigh in! I am doing my best to get all the water in, its hard I am a hygienist and I am so busy morning and afternoon. I try to drink 2c breakfast, 2 c. midmorning, 2 at lunch then 2 mid day, then 2more at dinner and snack. Im going to curb my sodium intake as well cause maybe I was retaining water. I will stick to the 2tsp of sea salt and no more. So no soy sauce for me I geuss. Another question, if I eat the 2c. veggies do I have to have any lettuce? Sometimes I am full and don't want it. In canada on phase 1 as well I am not allowed any restricted foods,or even occasional foods. :):):)

In related news - I was going to do my giveaway tomorrow because it's my little guys birthday and seemed fun but today is Earth Day and as my giveaway has a little something to do with Earth Day I will be starting it today!! So check back at around noon mst for the big reveal!! You are all able to enter - and who doesn't like free stuff!!

Have a good one everyone :)

I love the new blog format and colors! You are so amazing!

I left it for your site but, here is my post and tip:

I love the new colors! This spring combination seems so much more inline with your personality than the grey/orange combo!

Green Tip:
This is nothing new in my life and, is actually something my mother encouraged when we were growing up!

Buy new-to-you clothing and home decor! Choosing a previously owned handbag saves as much energy as NOT watching TV for 3 days straight. Buying a vintage or previously owned dress saves 95% of the CO2 needed to make a new dress. You can also consider buying furniture and home decor that are "already out there" in "gently used condition". It is less costly to the environment to recover a quality piece than it is to make a new one from scratch! (Did I just hear another tree fall??)

I often shop for "second hand" deals. I have some amazing furniture, all pre-owned of great quality (better than I could afford in some cases) and some recovered by me. I love to find vintage things or quality cast offs on ebay too. I buy movies, music, shoes (there are so many that still have tags), hand bags that were hardly used ( I have a gorgeous Coach bag that I coveted in the store at almost 900.00 usd which I got for 149.00 usd and had authenticated by Coach. What a steal!), great clothes, unused pottery barn curtains and so much more. I love going the "recycled" route. It is amazing how much people "consume and don't use".

Weighed myself yesterday and today and I officially weigh less than my hubby!!! This has been a huge confidence booster as I basically stopped looking at my weight or telling my husband my weight after I started weighing more than him. I rewarded myself with pedicure (yay for red toes) and a new pair of skinny jeans (size 10!!) for my trip to Seattle this weekend :) I also weigh 155 - which means I am halfway to my goal weight of 130 :broc:

Don't restrict sodium too much, you will be eliminating a lot on this diet with the increasing urination. Watch it but stay at 1/2 tsp minimum. That is what is on my protocol sheet as a requirement. If you like soy sauce, try the Braggs Liquid Amino Acids. It is a little lower sodium than soy and has a similar taste. And, the aminos are good given we lose access to some by restricting grains in our diet.

I hear "Yes, you must eat the lettuce". I know some others here may say no, that can probably be attributed to our having different coaches. But, read Dr Tran's website, www.trantiendiet.com . He has a video where he explains the need for the veggies and lettuce. I don't always get a large amount of lettuce but I do get it in. It contains water, has some necessary vitamins only found in green leafy things, is low carb, and high fiber. It does help with fullness and constipation too so, don't avoid it entirely.

Just a thought, I am sure you have several clients a day as a hygenist. Would you be able to use your chair changes as a point of 1) reminder to drink water and 2) a time to stop briefly and drink a glass?

hooray CK!! that's a great feeling isn't it!! I was ecstatic after I weighed less than my husband! I make him get on the scale every now and again just to be sure he's still heavier than me lol. He's a patient man :)

Spaghetti Bolognese Mix

on day 4 and I will be having spaghetti mix for lunch...somehow it seems wrong to have this during phase 1 as it has so many carbs in it.

should I go for it or did my couch make a mistake...

its looking rather good in front of me.

Calgarygirlie 04-22-2010 03:12 PM

Pitakitten.... I too have been cooking by smell for my family. The number of times I have to stop my self leads me to wonder if how many extra calories a day I was ingesting just "testing" :)
Medicyn!!! Woohoo for you!!!!! That must have felt great! Just hearing that has motivated me, I may even attempt a shopping trip soon :)
Jordanna - What was the name of the spread you picked up? I saw some at the Diabetic Depot, but was too afraid to try it. Is it allowed on Phase 1?

Pitakitten My sheets say that for "maximum" results it is recommended that you have no restricted foods for the first 2-3 weeks. I am not sure how different the programs are betweeen the US and Canada or where you are, but in Canada the spaghetti is considered restricted. However, individuals have different plans with their coaches. Hope that helps :)

I am in phase 3 and yesterday was my 2 week final weigh in for this phase and my weight went up almost 2 pounds, from 126 that was my goal weight it has went up 2 pounds per those last 2 weeks so i was at 130, which is where I want to be in maintenance. My coach doesn't like the fact that I have gained in phase 3 and want's me to stay in this phase for another 2 weeks! I thought you were to pick a weight that you'd be comfortable with gaining 3-5 pounds in maintenance? i'm comfortable with 130!! I just don't get it...I really would like to be through with having to WI weekly and just be on my own, but I want to do this the right way, as i've spent LOT"s of $$$ on this program....Ugh! =( also on my scale this morning i was 125 yesterday on my scale i was 127 which usually is the same at the clinic, but i did notice i was in a different room where the scale was also in a different spot. the body fat thingy that you hold on to said i was up 1/2 %, I'm Really tired today, as I have been just about most day's on this diet... Help! what are some of your opinions, as I just love this forum and am so happy to be apart of it =) just sorry I didn't join sooner. Thank you

Some people actually lose in Phase 3, but most gain 3-5 pounds, you're supposed to be entering phase 3 a little under your goal weight. I have the script/guidelines that coaches are given to review and go over with their dieters (My remote coach sent it to me so I would have more explanation as to how phase 3 works) I'm not sure why your coach would be upset as they should know that gaining in phase 3 is normal. All the data I have says 2 weeks on phase 3 and that's it. There is nothing more you could have done as long as you followed phase 3 to a T. I would urge your coach to check with her rep or something if she thinks you should stay in it longer. If you want to PM me with your email, I will send you a copy of the sheet I was given about Phase 3.

thanks.

I have read your posts before, so I think they are posting all right. The only way I know when someone replies to one of my posts is by reading all of them. Plus, you don't want to miss anything.

HockeyMom23 and showgirlaz--
Thanks for the words of encouragement. Planning a steak for dinner and will bake the cookies tomorrow. Made the dough but I think I'll wait until the morning to bake. Hopefully, I will be over this starving mode by then. Red meat seems to help at times like this. And I've had plenty of water but will do the omega 3s too. Thanks again.
Jordanna - have tried to comment at your blog for 2 days. As I told you before, I like it-- and the new colors too.

You're the first person on this forum I've seen who is required to use 2 tsp. of sea salt daily. I'm supposed to use 1 tsp. daily, but most people on this forum are only required to take 1/2 tsp.

As long as you're counting it as a restricted item and you're allowed them, you can. I think you can only have it twice a week max though.

You have to wait until you have been a member for 20 days and have made 25 posts. Then you click on user contro panel, then edit signature. It will walk you through the steps.

According to my protocol sheet, it is a restricted and should not be used in the first 3 weeks for anyone. Sorry. Maybe someone else has better news!

My spread is Walden Farm Peanut Spread, we are allowed to use walden farm products while on Phase 1 as they are 0 carb 0 calories and 0 fat per serving.

I had the peanut spread for lunch on celery. It wasn't super peanut buttery but it did have a peanut/salty creamy sensation like peanut butter. It has a synthetic taste but wasn't terrible. I think I would try using it in a stir fry or a chicken satay next time...but all in all raw on celery it wasn't too bad. Would I have enjoyed it if I hadn't been on the program for 14 weeks and just really want something that resembles peanut butter...maybe not....shrugs.
