Hey CW - I have the fajitas when I go to applebees. I just ask for grilling with no sauce and ask them not to bring the guacamole and tortillas

is that your pancreas has reset. Not planning to change anything but
I am looking forward to that milestone.
Chaplains wifey and Jordanna - you are there! Anything feel differently??!?

I'm at day 94....I'm not sure if I really feel any different from last week or the week before??

Quick question for those of you who use Ideal to Go. I know there is a one time registration fee, but are you required to purchase your first food from them or can you sign up and get all the info and support but then order from some place else?

I believe they do waive it for everyone... but why would you bother signing up with them if you weren't going to buy food there? :?:

As far as I'm concerned, it would basically just be an outlet for the product... they aren't going to do weigh-ins or take your measurements. There are other places to get support and information (including this site). And to be honest, as others have pointed out, you can follow the general protocol using other products in the place of IP packets... folks have documented that quite well on this site also.

I love the people I work with. Today is Secretary's Day and in the lounge it was filled to the brim with veggies!! They know I am losing weight and trying to be very good. They had bottled water and veggies, fruit and then few things like Pita chips and Multi grain crackers. What a great staff. They also purchased me a $30.00 gift card to Ross for new clothes when I reach my goal.
I ate some celery, cucumbers and broccoli completely guilt free and ignored all the rest. :broc:

Today is my 6 week weigh in. I have been on Bootcamp this whole time and think I will stick with it. Again I have the nervous stomach about weighing in. I always feel fat on the day I'm going in. I know its all mental, but I just want to be out of the 180's on their scale. On mine I was 178 on Sunday, but I'm not expecting too much. I at least get measured today, so I will focus on the inches:) I'll report later.

It is completely not just an outlet for the orders, I've gotten some awesome support, a way to track my weight and measurements, you need to enter those into the website and my coach asked about them if I didn't enter them on the day I scheduled for my weigh-in, there is also a lot of great information available to you. You also enter your food diary online so you and the remote coach can look at what you've been eating if you have a week you think was good or bad. You can definitely do the diet with other stuff, but I really liked having access to the site, and now that I'm in maintenance, I still use the daily food diary to enter what I'm eating to track it. And my coach has been great at responding to my emails and phone calls whenever I had a question, she sent me a lot of great info that wasn't on the site, that I've asked for, and goes to the clinical pharmacologist for IP for me to ask specific questions if she can't answer them.

I hope you get this before lunch! :)

CW: Get the garlic Herb chicken no sauce, no potatos extra steamed vegetables without carrots (if they will do it) and a small side salad no croutons, cheese, carrots. bring your own dressing or use lemon and oil. Alternate is to do the asiago peppersteak leave off the cheese, trade the potatoes for extra veggies and add a salad with your own dressing. Harder to do but possible, the Dijon chicken. Get a plain grilled chicken, roasted mushrooms, trade potato for veggies, add salad. Actually salad options are the asian crunch salad minus sugar snap peas add extra cucumber, add broccoli too, leave off any almonds or crunchies. The almonds are lower carb and high fat but won’t take you out of ketosis if you did eat some. bring your own dressing ( the wf asian would be great) or use a lemon/oil. The second salad option is the grilled shrimp and spinach. Again, no almonds and your own dressing. All else should be ok on it and, this comes in both a full or ½ size.

I am at day 158. I had a major shift in my body around day 105. I feel great! A ton of energy. Not sure about how food is being digested or how the pancreas is working though. :) Wish I had a little window I could peak thru!

Where is the information that says 100 days to reset your pancreas? What about people like Babs who did not have much weight to lose? She would never be able to do 100 days. I also know local women that did the program to lose 25 lbs. They didn't stay on phase 1 for 100 days. Please direct me to the IP literature that says this.

Thanks!

Yeah you tell 'em Mermaid!

Hehehe I'm with you on that... there is no magic number... we are all different and react differently

I am also curious about this, because everything I've read, including Dr Tran's book says this diet was initially only indicated for 2-4 weeks, over that was something developed by Dr Tran and must be medically monitored for safety, this is the reason for the coaches and working with someone. My idealtogo coaches actually met me in person, and they saw that I didn't have a lot to lose, which is probably why they accepted me extremely quickly, let me sign up on the spot, that and I was listening to them for 2 days at conference booth.

I sure don't remember 100 days - wow - that's a long time! I thought I read somewhere it was 4 weeks - but can't be sure. I also seem to recall that in Dr. Tran Tien Chan's Unbalanced Diet book he says that we should go on the IP diet for 10 days every year - doing this will keep our pancreas functioning properly. Maybe it's 10 not 100??

Found this online
"After approximately 3 days on the Ideal Protein Diet Plan "treatment", your glycogen reserves are depleted and your body begins to burn your stored fat cells for energy naturally. This results in your body producing ketonic bodies (ketones) that are a natural appetite suppressant thus preventing cravings after the first few days and providing you with energy. You will start losing weight—or fat—as soon as fat becomes your first source of energy. You will then burn fat while nourishing muscle with the high-quality, highly-absorbable Ideal foods containing the 9 essential amino acids that you consume throughout the day. Remember, muscle is the engine that burns calories every minute of every day, and by supplying your diet with this essential protein, you ensure that your muscle is not used significantly for energy.

During this time you will also reset your pancreas by giving it a much-needed rest. A properly functioning pancreas is the key to avoiding filling up your fat reserves once you have completed the “treatment” period and you return to more normal eating."

So I think the 100 days is WAY off LOL

Kelsey and YinYang,

I am probably going to get hung out to dry but here goes:

I also went to Vegas and went with full intention of being off plan. I ate and drank what I wanted for 5 days. I had been on IP for 6 weeks prior. The first day back on plan I retained a bunch of water. I took a water pill and weighed myself. I lost 7 lbs of fluid from 5 PM to 5 AM the next morning. That morning I weighed what I weighed the day I left for Vegas. I think you should eat sensibly and enjoy your vacations. We don't get to go on vacation every month. Even skinny people gain weight on vacation. ;)

I have been back on plan for 7 weeks until last week. I have not had much energy and fighting an abscessed tooth. I went off plan for another 5 days. I am up 1 lb from my weight before my "mini break". We all have to make choices everyday about what we eat. I am inspired and amazed by those that can stay on plan with out any extras. I started back on plan Monday with a much better attitude and will try to get 20 more pounds lost. It is definitely getting more difficult to lose more than 2 pounds a week. However, I usually allow myself a restricted almost everyday and I am still losing. I am happy as long as the scale is moving down and will probably move to Phase 3 the end of May even if I have not lost 20 lbs. Summer is my fun time and I will not live and die by this diet. I will manage it to the best of my ability just like the rest of you. I think it is very easy to become obsessed with this plan. I am kind of discouraged that the IP coaches cannot advise for people to take breaks from this diet. It is better to take a small break and get back on plan than to give up on the diet. Please remember you may have to go through the carb withdrawals again when you return to the diet. :comp: Just my thoughts.

Thanks Blue Mermaid for your great input. Last night I talked with my coach for her suggestions on how I should manage my vacation. She is very reasonable and agreed that my plan to eat mostly proteins and veggies, and stay away from the unprocessed carbs was a good one. She said that if I did gain a little, get right back on IP as soon as I return and I should be okay. When I asked about alcohol, she told me that it was better to stay with clear alcohols, like vodka, and put it with diet soda. No beer, as that is the worst.

Actually, at my WI last night, I had convinced myself that I was only going to lose a lb based on my home scale. I actually lost 3.4# which was very exciting for me.

Kelsey- Whatever you decide to do, know that you can restart this program at any point with success. You might have a couple days with headache to get back in ketosis, but it can be done. I am in this for the long haul, and that means enjoying my vacations and family time. A week is a very small part of my life. Everyone feels differently, and that is okay.

some coaches say it is allowed, some don't. I know some people on IP use sugar-free jello with their own protein powder as a measure of protein during a meal so I suppose you'd have to decide :)

I have heard that the longer you are in ketosis the faster it is to get back in to ketosis later on...
