I've only had to take anti-inflammatories for my foot ONCE in the past month. For those of you who don't know, I broke part of my heel joint about two years ago and now have very little lateral stability and post-traumatic arthritis, which can be very painful in the cold winter months. On Sunday I worked an 8 hour shift at the pharmacy and only got to sit down for a 20 minute lunch, and I wore my new heeled boots without my foot brace... and I was fine at the end of the day. Walking and standing with twenty pounds less on my foot makes such a difference, I can't wait to see what I can do when another twenty pounds come off!
I am always surprised at the different info out there, my coach said that I absolutely cannot work out while on this program because it will affect my results negatively and that we arent eating enough calories and working out could put us into "starvation" mode. Anyone else hear the same? He is a chiropractor with a Masters in Nutrition and exercise science. I was working out alot before this program and went to see him cuz my neck was hurting after i lifted weights (that led me to IP) but he then said I had to quit working out if I was going to do IP. Any thoughts?
I was told to wait until week 3 to start exercising to let our bodies get use to functioning with lower calories & then take it easy because we do not want to tear up our muscles. I have also been told that when I start exercising & it is more then 25 minutes of cardio to add a hard boiled egg at least 30 minutes after completing the exercise. I have been taking my exercise very easy & sporatically actually. And I am use to taking hour long spin classes.
I weighed in today and lost 3.4 lb. I had a hard time at the beginning of last week after a big slip on New Years Eve and the following weekend. But, I'm back on plan and so excited for the New Year. After a 3 day headache, I'm feeling good and back to normal. It's so good to read all the posts and get so much encouragement from everyone.
Had my six week weigh in this morning...lost 6.8 pounds. Total for 6 weeks os 24.2 pounds, Yahoo!! I chose to count it as 25 if anyone asks, it's easier and I know it will be true in a matter of days.
I can not express how thankful I am that I found this forum. I check in daily, usually more than once. It is great to hear the constant positive attitudes and success. Thank you everyone!!
Are TURNIPS on the restricted list??? Because I am LOVING the turnip fries lately. How do you measure "hard" veggies? Weigh or a measuring cup? Which is more accurate?
Turnips are allowed. Rutabagas are on the restricted and someone they are sold as the same....but they are not. Turnips are white with red tops. Very tasty with spices.
I measure the veggies after cut. But I would like to see what other do, cause 2 cups of cut up turnips is a silly amount of turnips!
First official weigh in....5 lbs! We didn't do measurements this time (didn't have an appointment, quick run in, couldn't stay).
My first super busy day in IP and I am not sure I did okay. All was well until dinner when I had to eat out and it had to real food (no packets with me, woke up late, didn't get my breakfast/dinner as planned). So we chose an buffett place for dinner. I stuck with a large salad from the salad bar (spinach greens, mushrooms, brocolli, cali, 1 sliver of an onion) with 1 drop of red wine vinegar (I know restricted, but it was the lesser of the evils). I only did that because I need SOME flavor, but it may have to stuck to one leaf it was so tiny. Then I chose the baked chicken. The chicken was horrible so I ate 1 bite and moved onto a piece of the steak, which was also sort of ick. There was fish....but again, ick. I tried the boiled cabbage, but could only eat 3 bites because I am sure there was plenty of oil/butter.
I did have some meat (leftovers from last night) with lunch today. I hope I got in my required 5 ounces at least throughout the day. I feel satisfied (as in not hungry), but it was hard to FIND the right choices. Amazing what I would have eaten normally.
Glad to have that experience...this is life and I am trying to make better choices, not just lose weight!
BTW....congrats to the scale victories and the NSV!

Sorry...I meant to say....SOMETIMES they are sold as the same...
Well, I did my first weigh in today. I started Thursday, so I am not quite 7 days, but I am down 7.5 lbs!! Whoo hoo! So far I have found this plan easy and fits nicely into my busy schedule. I also enjoy the food and drinks. I have tried several items, and I haven't found any that I didn't like.
Princass, thanks for the time and the info. I wouldn't go off my meds, I have the bipolar stuff pretty much undercontrol but I'm just not real happy all the time. I'm not sad or depressed either, but I miss being happy and laughing a lot. Hopefully the Omegas will help with that!!
Ogdog13, you might consider trying 5-HTP. It is natural. From Griffonia Beans (whatever those are). It is a precurser to Serotonin and affects the neurotransmitters. A friend told me about it because I get SAD (seasonal affective disorder) in the winter from the lack of light. It took a couple of weeks to feel anything, then I got down-right giddy, then it leveled off to 'normal' I really think it helps...I used to take Effexor - but hate 'drugs' so when this worked I loved it. just a thought.
So I have purchased my food from ideal protein, bought all my supplies and store food, and I am waiting for the delivery (which I believe will be here tomorrow). I am so excited to get this started, and also very scared that I will fail. I have put alot of things in action for support, and a good friend told me to use this website for support, so here I go. I am not very computer literate, so hopefully I will figure out all the ins and outs to set up my account. If anyone has any advice on dealing with their fears I am all ears. Thank you in advance, and hopefully I can help someone else as well.

Toomanycats, I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!!!
