Oh yes! I had that too. Your body is used to having a bunch of food at that time of day and now it has none. Your stomach is still producing the acids and it has nothing to do but irritate you. After a couple weeks (for me, doing 5:2) it went away.

I'm finishing up week five and my lowest weight shows a loss of 14 pounds. Not too bad! My non-fasting days I have started focussing more on reducing my carbs, which I have never done. I'm not sure if it's one thing or all combined but my energy is picking up. Woot!

I've been doing this for less then a week and today I stood in the mirror and checked myself out. I'm lookin good! I'm not weighing myself, I'm going off the mirror and some clothes I was starting to not fit into. With my job I usually go to the gym in the AM, then eat around 11-12. Then I don't get a chance to eat until around 6-7pm and thats it. My choices are usually healthy too.

SO far so good! But tomorrow is my day off so I am a little nervous. But i'm surprised I'm looking so good and FEELING so good... and I'm about to be on my period!

This combined with intuitive eating? Going to work wonders

I'm doing a quasi 5:2 but still am cutting off my eating window a few hours before I sleep every day. I hope it goes away once my body gets used to it. It woke me up today!

But so far I've been having great daily weigh ins even if it's only been a week! And I've even had waffle house and mexican this week. Awesome sauce!

Pepcid got me through. It was awful when I layed down at night. I mixed it up with trying to keep my carbs down as well and things really started picking up.

First day back at classes today, thought i would update with my weigh-ins so far. Last four weigh-ins i lost 0.4, 0.6, 0.6, 0.4 kg each done in the morning after waking up and going to the bathroom. Think i may dial down my cardio if it keeps dropping to fast.

I took some heartburn medicine before bed and that helped a lot.

But I have another question (TMI). Since I've started IF, I've had constipation. I get about 15-25 grams of fiber on none fast days. I understand that I am eating less and that means less coming out. But I've been on low calorie diets before and never had an issue like this.

True, I haven't changed most of my diet other than trying to eat under 2400-2000 calories on non-fast days which is what MFP spits at me depending on my activity. This is why I've loved 5:2 so far because I can lose weight without buying special food. And it's worked so far. I know most of the first week is water weight but it's inspiring!

Yer i've had something similar. I'm putting it down to the body wanting to hold on to the food to remove as much nutrients as possible.

@ShrinkingStudent I don't know if you got an answer to your question when to do high intensity workouts. My understanding from the sites I follow is that high-intensity cardio is not recommended during the fasting window. High-intensity weightlifting seems OK, as does low-intensity cardio. Most sites recommend that high-intensity cardio be scheduled during the eating window.

This is my first post to this thread. I've just ended my first week of IF. I love it! I have always been really all-or-nothing and this schedule of eating (I am doing 16/8) is really great.

The only time this week when I have experienced any discomfort was on the second morning when I skipped my coffee since I normally have almond milk in it. I have learned to drink it black, HA!

In any case, I am down 2.6 pounds which I am sure is mostly water weight, but it still is nice to see that validation on the scale

@KTucke7 Thanks for the information, yeah I found the same thing in my research attempts so i am pretty much exercising mid window.

Good work @Pacifica Bee and @Daimere, it's great to see the results of others doing IF. Personally I've been dropping an average of around a pound a day, although that is taking a good hard hour of cardio a day and a 1000 calorie deficit.

After getting used to it I'm not even getting hungry in my fast window and the weight is coming of so fast, really hopes it keeps going this way as i should be at my goal in great time.

I'm so afraid to tell people because I'm afraid they will make comments like one of my friends did last week (while I had a mouth full of WAFFLE HOUSE FOOD). I mean, some days I eat above 1200, some days I eat above 2000, some days I eat under 1000, and some days I average 1800. Sure I could just eat straight 1800 a day.

But the idea of fasting, breaks me from after work binging and opening a eating window of 18 hours which happens when I work 12s. It's empowering. And yes, I open my windows at times. I give myself permission to have higher fast days (the one day that was close to 600 made me feel funny that morning whereas 800 makes me feel awesome). Maybe one day I'll have true 5:2 but I'm happy and losing at the moment. And I can totally see myself doing this. My co-worker was telling me how she lost 50 pounds just cause she stopped eating due to crazy nurse schedules. And she's right! This makes it easier!
