Hi everyone! I've been reading through this tread and decided to join. Keep up the good work!

I'm jumping on the IF bandwagon, I've never really successfully done it before but I'd really love to lose 10-15 lbs before my wedding in December My plan is to do 16/8 with an eating window between 2pm-10pm and workout in the mornings. I'm currently unemployed after finishing grad school so I don't get up til 9am anyways!

I have a weird question - for those of you who fast in the morning, do you ear "breakfast" foods or "lunch" foods at your first meal?

@Stay Puft Yes, it was surprisingly positive for "Health" magazine.

@Lisa I basically eat whichever I'm hungry for!

@Liquorice My son swears that drinking BCAA's curb his hunger. Not sure what the mechanism is, but you might give it a try!

Jumping on this thread. I kind of accidentally adopted this schedule of eating over the past couple weeks because life has been so busy in the mornings with my kids starting school. But I've found that it makes it SO much easier for me to stay within my calorie goal for the day! I don't have to obsess over when I'm eating or feel guilty that I missed breakfast or my snack or whatever. And when I get those mid-afternoon snack cravings, I can eat them without feeling guilty that it's not in one of my pre-scheduled "meals" It feels like dieting freedom! And I've seen steady losses on the scale for the past week! (I'm one of the crazy people that like to weigh myself a few times a week to keep my progess in check & I keep a nifty nerdy little graph...but I also am taking my measurements once per month)

I just finished the two fasting days of week four, still plugging away. I did learn the first week was a bit of a fluke as far as hunger goes. I had been impressed with my lower appetite on non-fast days but now I'm back to fighting the urges and struggling to stay within my calorie budget.

I'm down 8-12 pounds (heaviest---->dry) so doing good but always the struggle.

Eta...both hubby and I are doing the 5:2 and it sure helps the food bill! Ha! One of the unexpected benefits.

Most of the time lunch foods, salad or occasional sandwich.
However I LOVE eggs and believe they are closer to super food than bad for you, so I do have eggs quite often either lunch or dinner to get in that 'breakfast' food. LOL And every once in a blue moon some of my favorite Kashi cereal.

Thanks for your replys!! I've done pretty well this week sticking to my window. I haven't lost any weight though so I think I probably need to cut calories, ugh I was hoping I wouldn't have to. I hate counting calories. Oh well!

Have a great long weekend everyone

I love Health magazine, I find it so much more informative than other health/fitness magazines.

Talking

Attempting a 36-hour fast today. Started yesterday at 8 pm. I am starting a personal 12-week fitness and nutritiion challenge that I want to achieve before the holiday season. I need to lighten-up before the snow hits because I want to go snowshoeing and it's too tough on my knees at this weight. I did it for my biirthday last year at South Lake Tahoe, and want to do it at Christmas this year at Squaw Creek with my sons. It's fun!

So my plan is to do 36- to 24-hour fasts once each week and 16-hour fasts the rest of the time, with one eat-up day per week, never going over RMR. I don't have a specific weight loss goal. Just want to get it done!

Hello there I am going to attempt IE, I am planning 16/8 at 11am to 7pm on work days. I am also combining this with intuitive eating so I will try to strictly eat within that window only when I am physically hungry. I am not going to count calories, but I definitely make good choices most of the time.

On work out AND work days I will stuff my gob right after my work out and again on dinner break. On days I just work I plan to keep it lighter before work and a bit heavier on the dinner break. Otherwise little snacks here and there to kill hunger. On days I have off from everything I'm going to move my window around to accommodate any plans I might have with family that day.

Before when I was maintaining I'd wake up late, eat a late lunch and then maybe a later dinner and that was it. I ate absolute **** and I never gained weight. Now trying diets, eating multiple small meals etc....I cannot seem to lose.

I have been trying to IF and the 5:2 method. Although I still give myself eating windows. Cause I realized a while ago, even when CC/WW, that when I'd go into work for a 12 hour shift, I'd have such a large eating window that I couldn't stay on plans some nights. I come home from work and overeat. I've only been doing it for a few days and it's not that bad so far. I've been eating a lot less since I've pulled myself from my two biggest eating periods. Actually I've been doing a lot of 12s lately, plus my low day (it was actually 900 instead of 600...I work an active job which is why I felt like 600 would be safer even though I am a woman) and haven't seen what my normal wake up at 8pm day is actually like.

I really want this to help because I feel like this might be the one thing that could help me lose weight without buying special foods or stuff. Just eating less.

Question: I seem to be having more heartburn during my fasting hours (and I wasn't even having heartburn before this change even though I wasn't eating ideal)? I'm not eating anything crazy bad beforehand. I daily weigh and so far, I'm getting positive results.

Hey guys just started IF this week mixing it with an hour of Insanity month Two each day, I've been following 18/6 cycle pretty easily as I've been away from university but i go back next week. Thought i would jump in here just to ask any questions that arise from clashes of trying to do IF with my messed up student schedule.

Just to start my input, anyone have any advice on the best time to do higher intensity cardio while doing IF? (how far into a fasting window/not fasted)

Well, I work night shift, so I have the king of messed up schedules! I usually open my window at 8pm-5am. Although some nights I still don't eat till 11-12pm. Although when I need, I'll change my windows based on family get togethers.
