Welcome, Ann!
No worries on "talking too much"! I love IF too. Totally has helped me with my night cravings. As for working out, that depends on you. Some days I can do it fasted, some days I can't. On fasted days with workouts, I do eat right after (within an hour after workout so that means to workout near your eating window) because I can get really hungry and sometimes lightheaded, depending on intensity of workout. If you find you can't do it in the fasted state, you can always do it after you eat, no biggie. Again, :welcome:! |
Hi all. I was on here asking questions awhile ago. I think I am finally to the initiation phase where I am ready to do IF. I think I am going to follow "the warriors diet", I think its an older IF concept, but for me it seems a more sensible place to start. I really like the emphasis on undereating during the day instead of complete fasting (which I know may not be as effective, but I plan to reconsider my plan after a solid month). Also the fact that that diet allows a post workout protein shake etc. very much appealed to me and my concerns about post lifting recovery during the fasting stage of the day.
Anyways anyone tried the warrior diet? Oh! I wanted to add that since it isn't a complete fast and you are allowed to eat low low calories during the day I plan to count calories as well as follow the plan. I just don't quite trust myself to ensure I don't still over eat. |
With respect, if you're not fasting during the fasting period it's not fasting.
I am not familiar with the warrior diet but if you're eating during the day and then eating a big meal in the evening that wouldn't be intermittent fasting. |
John- Your right its not a real fast. For me I feel it's more a step toward fasting. You eat probably 200-300 calories during the day and then a big meal in a 4 hour window at night. Not fasting like you said, but I felt a step towards fasting. I suppose I should probably jump in with two feet, but my attempts to do so have been feeble at best. I'm hoping I can get used to eating very little for most of the day and having a bigger meal at night (while counting calories to ensure I dont eat too much overall). Then when I am comfortable doing this (hopefully in one month), I'll go for the IF. The 200-300 (I'm approximating here based on what you are allowed to eat) is from a pretty stringent list of foods. You can only have fruit vegetables, eggs and whey or yogurt during the 20 hr undereating phase. And you cant eat more than 4 times. SO for example I can have 1 piece of fruit in the morning. Then 1 hardboiled egg later in the in the day, then a serving of raw veggies later. But no more than that one thing at a time. The only exception to eating one small thing or one small serving of something is after weightlifting, in which I can have 1 serving of plain yogurt with one piece of fruit or a whey protein shake with no added sugar. Then when the 4 hour window starts you eat a salad first with only oil and a little vinegar, followed by lean protein, steamed veggies, and legumes or grains.
Anyways I am in my long winded way I am saying, yes your right I am not fasting. And I know I will be missing out on alot of fasting benefits, but I am hoping that this is a good step to move me towards learning to eat most of my calories in a small window of time. I had so many false starts trying IF that this was my solution to make a slow progression towards IF eating. |
I really don't understand the point of that plan, but if it helps you control your caloric intake overall it can't be too bad.
One thing to consider - if there are health benefits to IF it would seem to revolve around keeping insulin levels at baseline for extended periods. Have you considered starting with a 14/10 plan and then moving to an 16/8 plan and then longer if you prefer? That is what I did. The transition was pretty smooth. No way I could have jumped into a 24 hour or even 19 hour fast. |
Hello IFers! I'm losing weight steadily with Fast 5, slowly but surely. I have a good amount of energy during the day, I sleep like a rock, and I wake up feeling amazing. Also - my skin has cleared up. (I didn't really have acne before, just occasional breakouts.) I'm starting to sound like a paid advocate for intermittent fasting if there was such a thing!! The point is, I'm sold on the health benefits of this, weight loss aside.

Whoo-hoo! 185.8 even with TOM! :carrot:
Have a great weekend, y'all! |
well I left for a while but I think I'm back fasting. I really struggle finding a plan I can live with.
|
Today is my first day of IF. I decided to start off with a 24hour fast to see how I can manage and it is going just fine no headaches or stomachaches. I am pretty happy and looking forward to seeing if this works well for me in the long term.
|
Cherrypie I left for a while too. I still kept to a few times though. I've just been maintaining my weight. I am back and ready. I like how I'm not as hungry with IF and I can't find that with other plans. I'm putting my eating window 1-6 with 1 24hr fast.

Hey everyone!
I'm in a great mood. I weighed myself in today, and I'm sitting at 180. That's lighter then I was in October, and only a couple pounds above my mini-goal! IFing has really been working great for me, and I'm really glad I gave it a shot. I thought I would be starving with this way of eating, but it actually feels as if I'm eating more then I ever have. |
Hello all..I had read some of the posts and did a search on this and am glad that I did. I started this method yesterday and eat 2 meals a day I eat mod portion for breakfast/dinner..and fasting during lunch and snacks..I am loving this and this could be my way of eating!! During my fasting, I drink water,coffee..iced tea.
I weighed in this morning and down 2 Lbs!! :) Its working for me!! Thank you for this thread..I know this method is for me..Love it!!! Have a nice day all!! |
I cheated
Hey all!
Thanks amandie for your warm welcome . I have been doing pretty well. My first fast was excellent. The second one, I kinda cheated. I went beyond the 24 hours. I went 40 hours to see how long I could go. It was a psychological thing. I guess to prove that I could do the 24 hours. Also I have been able to mentally talk myself out of so much stuff. I haven't been overeating and snacking late at night. I just tell myself "If you can fast for 40 hours then you can NOT eat this snack. Drink water!" This works for me. I did something similar before. I never liked breakfast and usually didn't eat until 2pm and if I was busy sometimes until 5 or 6pm. So when I heard about this, I knew it was perfect. I am happy!:carrot: I may do another 24 hour fast....starting tonight. It depends on the time I stop tonight....because tomorrow is hectic for my start meal. I will check in later! Thanks ya'll! |
Hello everyone!
I'm into my third week of IF. I stayed with the 11 am to 4 pm eating window. The first 2 weeks, I didn't lose any weight. The third week I started to control my food portions and limit carbs. Today, I am down 5 pounds. |
Valeriao! Way to go! Good looking out on making those changes. It looks like on the third week your body kicked into gear. Congrats on your weight loss so far. 39 pounds is no small feat!! :carrot: :carrot:
