I binged.
I binged today but not because of hunger. I did well with week 1 and I think this week will end well too. I stop eating tomorrow at 6 or 7pm. I have GOT to do this. Anyway, I did eat uncontrollably for two days straight I ate about 600 calories over my daily goal (2300 one day and 2100 today). This was not because I was hungry but because of my emotions. So, now I know that my binging is not hunger. Plus my binge was "under control". This diet is not only good for me physically but also mentally/emotionally I am starting to deal with things. I am seeing the link to food and emotions. Anyway, I will check in after my next fast. BTW, Coconut water is nasty to me! :)

Yesterday was just day 2 for me of giving it a go with delayed eating/fasting. I actually didn't feel hungry at all really, but I finally did eat at around 1:30PM because hubby was hungry and I thought, eh, I'll go ahead! I ate four bites before my stomach growled. LOL Maybe that is the reason I'm not having a delay in weight loss -- I don't really have the urge to 'binge'. I do feel really hungry, but after not eating for so long, I like to really savor the taste of my food. So, I eat slowly and until I am full. My weigh-in this AM was 188, so another half pound down. And trust me, I was running around like mad yesterday and my food wasn't 100% healthy! I'm curious to see how this keeps going...

THANK YOOOOUUUU, everyone, for the responses and support!!!!
I realized last night that my binge was two-fold: one part hunger, the other part feeling overwhelmed and upset. After a long talk with my husband last night, the air was cleared on some things, and I feel like I'm back in the driver's seat. It's amazing what you learn when you start paying attention to your body and your mind! I decided to chalk yesterday up to a learning experience and a high calorie/ high protein day. We'll see this weekend how my first week plays out on the scale. So far, I am down 1 pound. xo |
Checking in...I am going strong and am a daily weigher, weigh 3 times a day and losing!!! So far, am down 23 Lbs!!! I am loving this!! Am hoping to be under 400 next month!!

YOU can do this!!Have a great day!! |
Cherrypie- Sorry didn't see your question until now! You start your fast after you eat your dinner/snack. Say you stop eating at 10pm at night, you can go for however long you want. Some people start eating at noon and stop at 8. Do go slowly though when you start out. Throughout the day while fasting, you are limited to water/tea though you can have coffee but be sure not to exceed 50 cals until you break the fast (some believe you should have none but whatever, opinions vary.)
I've never done a 24 hour fast, just 16 to 18 at the most. I love this program because you can tweak it to your needs. Ann- Don't beat yourself up. It happens. Glad you seem to have a handle on it. JustJ280- Way to go on the 188 ! It gets easier and easier as you go so keep it up! MrsLynah- Glad you have it under control now and did not beat yourself up too much over one bad day. You can do it, girl!! Congrats on your 1lb down. Liliann- Like I told you in the other thread, you're doing awesome! Chinese food- my kryptonite! I have learned how to make healthy (read: DELICIOUS) crab rangoons and lo mein. That really helps cut down on the calories/fat etc since you know what goes in it and not to mention, it saves you money too. I use ramen noodles for lo mein because primarily, it's cheap  and similar to restaurant/takeout noodles. I am planning to learn how to make general tso but hard to find those red chili peppers around here, argh. Good news!!! I weighed in at 183.6! I guess TOM decided to let water weight go or something. I'm totally looking forward to 179 because I have not weighed that much since I was an adult in YEARS. :carrot: I echo what Liliann said- Just hang in there and never give up when you are struggling. Come on this board and post instead of giving in to whatever. |
thanks for the answer, but I was actually wondering how people eat when they aren't fasting. Do they have any guidelines?
|
Cherrypie- Oh I'm sorry I misunderstood, I saw that question earlier but I wasn't sure what you meant. If I think I understand what you're asking, I try focusing mostly on lean meats, veggies, and some fruits with bread/pasta/potatoes once in a while. I still have pop and beer once in a while but I do not break the fast with them though, only after I have had something to eat. You can be low-carb, paleo, atkins etcetc on this if you want. It's just a modified way of eating your calories in a short window (be it in the morning then nothing for the rest or nothing for the morning/afternoon then eat at night.) If there are any guidelines, I am not aware of it.
If this isn't what you were asking then I'm sorry. Maybe someone else can chime in and help answer your question. :?: |

Calories matter. Everything else is secondary. |
Liliann Wish I had found it years ago too. It would have saved me a lot of struggle and angst. Keep keeping on :)

Thanks for the short answer, John! :D

Am so close being under 400s..Am so,so excited!! I think this weekend, I will be in 300s level.. Keep up the great work everyone..Stay hungry!! Drink up!!:) |
I started the Insanity workout program. I hate working out and i'm not even remotely athletic, so my muscles are really sore and I'm retaining quite a bit of water from this; I'm up about 2.5 lbs. I'm still fasting like usual, but I hope this change in activity doesn't negatively affect my steady weight loss. That sounds dumb because the start of an exercise routine is anything but a negative thing, I'm just wondering how it will work with the fasting, muscle growth, etc.
|
tonimaroni2 - the short answer is... it will be fine. Just give your body a couple of weeks to adjust! The working out will pay off in making you look smaller even if you don't see it on the scale. That's where measuring gets important :)
|
Yup. You're just holding onto water. Anytime I do anything more vigorous than normal, I retain a bit. Like today, I am back at 189. BUT, I did my workout yesterday, did lots of cleaning, and THEN went to the park and walked a LOT. So, I'm up a bit. I am hoping/thinking I will be down tomorrow, but we will see. Today was the first day that I felt hungry before time to eat, but it felt more like mental hunger than actual. But it could've been because I was so much more active yesterday than usual. I'm always busy, but then was a different type of busy. But I think if anything, I suspect you will see faster results with the fasting than just working out alone. You'll have to keep everyone updated!
