I am very close to hitting onederland. I haven't been below 200 lbs since 2004. I've already decided I'm going to reward myself with a Michael Kors bag. I'm not quite a size 14 yet but I'm hoping to make that goal at some point this summer.

First hot day....well almost. Sounds like it is warming up here in WI now. My dh is cutting hay and hoping for no rain but he better get it baled before Thur. because there is a good chance that day it will rain. I try to get him to retire but he says you can't live on this nice farm and not work it. He's also a vet so maybe he could retire at least one job. ha! He's a workaholic.

I was just noticing a book on Amazon, The Psychologists Eat Anything Diet, and is it ever expensive for a mass market paper back. I read about it and think it is probably IE but it was written in 1973. I think it was about $25. I read about it somewhere else on the net but can't recall where.

Got back from my trip last night and have spent last night and today washing and putting things away. I am so exhausted tonight.

I spent spare time and on the road reading the Volumetrics book again. Decided to read it with an open mind forgetting all the things I've learned about diets. It is so amazing all the things we've been told that are JUST MYTHS or someone's idea that has no scientific proof as being true. I gained 7 lbs the 2 weeks I was gone, but I think most of it was salt because I started eating the Volumetrics way today and have spent most of my day running to the potty. Using WW points plus to learn portions (if I find I need to learn it), but I believe I can easily do Volumetrics and IE together without having to count anything eventually.

Tomorrow I'll read to catch up on all of you.

Congrats to almost being to onederland!!!

I'm always interested in reading more books about IE, I will have to look into that one.

Volumetrics has always interested me, please let me know how it goes for you!

I've decided to start focusing on learning the second principle of IE today: honor your hunger. For the last week or so, I have learned to reject the diet mentality. I got so good at that one that I'm pretty sure I may have gained a bit over the three day weekend!

I'm not worried about it though, since I'm an IE-er now and I know that my body will find it's happy weight if I follow it.

Time to honor my hunger! Today I will focus on keeping up with principle 1, but also introducing principle #2. I think that doing IE in steps like this will really help me defeat my all-or-nothing approach to things.

Carol, I'm not 100% sure, but I think I had this in paperback in the 70s. If it's the one I'm thinking of, the author talked about eating "humming" foods, foods that you really love, instead of packing yourself with so-so foods that you eat because you think you "should".

It was an excellent book. I'll have to go look at the one on Amazon to see if it's the one I'm thinking of.

PS I got my copy back in the day when you could get paperbacks for about $1.25!

Edited to add: Yes, this is the book that I read so many years ago, and it was EXCELLENT.

The Amazon pages wouldn't let me copy any of the definitions of "humming" and "beckoning" foods, but it's very interesting, and you can find it if you look in the sample pages they have up.

I do SO much better when I'm eating the way it's described in this book.

Thanks for reminding me about the book, Carol.

Been to the doctor for a check up, NOW am on crestor, metformin and going see the cardiologist on June 17th, CVS is getting ready to roll out the red carpet when I dive up and I am on Benacor for hight blood pressure, silly doctor asked me if my apetite is ok, I'm like look at me do I look like my apetite is not ok? Welcome to the forums. I haven't been on the boards, been busy, so this is the first chance I get to welcome you. Hubby and I are reading the OVerfed Head for a second time. Went to the doctor, I am a medical wreck acording to them. My blood pressure is well controlled with meds, now I am on a baby dose of metfomin for borderline diabetes, crestor for my high cholesterol, which is 225 and they want it below 200, now they want me to see a cardiologist, so I am going to get this weight off so I can get off these meds, do not want to count on medication to live a healthy life. Have a blessed day.

Becky, the cheapest copy would be around $20 to buy from Amazon....that includes shipping. And to think it once sold for $1.25! I wonder if you could get it from a library somewhere. I live about a half hour from a library so I would call to see if they could get it.

I lost 4 of those 7 lbs that I gained while on vacation. Althought I counted points yesterday, I decided not to count calories or points today. I just went with the volumetrics. Since I'm tired of eating low carb and eating so much meat, I find that I am totally enjoying cereal for breakfast with fruit and also enjoying lots of fruit and veggies. Since nothing is off limits, I find that I have no cravings. The volumetrics woe does exactly what it says it will, it makes you feel full on smaller amounts of food.

Isn't Volumetrics where you eat a bunch of low calorie or fiber-filled foods so that it looks like you have a really full plate, and it fills your stomach more than more dense foods do?

Yes I think you are correct, anyway, that is what my understanding of it is.
