One of my problems lately is that I don't want to mess with cooking. Just wonder if anyone else has this problem and what you eat when you don't want to cook. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Trish, my dh has severe fibromyalgia, and I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and am hypothyroid, so neither of us have energy a lot of the time.
What works for us is that, whenever I *do* have the energy to cook something, I try to make extra, and freeze some of it for another meal. Every once in awhile I can end up with three or four dishes in the freezer that we can just take out and cook when we don't have energy to cook something else.
I also try to keep pizza makings on hand so I can slap together a pizza for us, since that doesn't require much energy.
There are also a lot of nights when we'll just make a quick sandwich for supper, or nibble on a plate of whatever we happen to find in the refrigerator that doesn't take preparation: cheese, olives, and crackers, for instance.
Most of all, we've gotten over any feelings of "guilt" that we're not making a meat-and-potatoes meal every night.

Congrats on the size 8 dress! I always love to hear about anybody's progress.

I'm feeling frustrated today. I've started walking/wearing my pedometer for the last week or so again. Most days I've ended up with a minimum of 5000 steps, and up to 7000 steps on some of the days. After a winter of sitting around most of the time, you'd think this walking would be helping me lose a few ounces--but nope! I'm going UP the scale again. Story of my life. Grrrr.
Wow, everyone should read about the Eden Diet. I think we are onto something here. Rita Hancock, MD has it down pat. Don't let the title of the book put you off. It is similar to Weigh Down, but she does not distrot the Truth.
Carolr Thank you for sharing with us about The Eden Diet. I read the information on her site and it is so much like IE and the way I lost weight once before. I went to Amazon.com and ordered the book and the workbook. It will be here either by Wednesday. I'm amazed by what she said just in what I read online especially since I've been thinking some of those things lately. So I am vey interested in reading the book and then doing the workbook.
kbajak I agree with you. I too believe we are on to something.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe Rita Hancock has posted on 3F before. I seem to remember her name, but not sure where it was. Maybe the Christian thread, just don't remember. It's been a long time.
PS. Trish, I love that little Easter egg painting himself! LOL!
Oh, while I'm here I may as well update. Seems my week of healthful eating backfired in my face! Why, oh why is this so darn hard?!?!? I've been eating the junk again because ... I don't even know why!
I guess I need to validate the "junk" food as a legitimate food category and get it down off its pedestal. (Gee, that sure sounds familiar!)
And this is what makes me REALLY mad ... I KNOW how to get the pounds off with IE, I'm just having a very hard time with this for some reason. The most weight I ever lost at one time was with The Lords Table. (TLT) And I ate whatever I wanted. No food was on a pedestal then and I didn't suffer the carb overload causing me to crave either.
I, too, will check out Rita's info. Perhaps a fresh approach is all I need. I had started re-reading The Weigh Down Diet book about a month ago to try to make it all solid in my mind what I need to do, but put the book down and went back to the craziness.
I just wish whatever needs to click in my head to get this would just click already! Sheesh! So frustrating!
Well, have a great day everyone. I'm gonna try to!

It is a struggle waiting for that growl. Right now I want to eat anything, but I am waiting for my stomach to growl. Come on - I feel hungry!! I know it is only head hunger. I will be praying for myself and going to God's word.
PS. To ALL of YOU - this website is great. Thank you.

I was having that problem this morning too. I finally was hungry, but almost didn't recognize it. Sometimes if I'm not paying attention I pass over into almost getting sick because I need to eat something. I have found that when I experience head hunger, I don't know what I want to eat. When I am really stomach hunger or get into that sick feeling because I need to eat (I'm hypoglycemic and get the shakes), it doesn't take me long to figure out what I want to eat.
Blue I think that is part of the IE cycle of getting back into "normal" eating. I go through times when all I want is very healthy foods and then I get into thos times when I want nothing but junk food. I hope that when we get it into our heads that "food is food" no good/bad foods that the junk food will lose it's flare. I thought the little egg was cute as well.

Thanks kbajak, and welcome to the forum! I know that waiting feeling well. Especially when the head hunger kicks in! Some days waiting seems effortless while other days I totally abandon it and eat anyways.
Trish, thanks also. I decided I would go back to square one and make a list of my most favorite foods and then buy the ingredients and then make them and enjoy them. I did this when I first started IE with Reese cups and dethroned them beautifully. I still love them, but can take 'em or leave 'em now. Now I'm going after spaghetti, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing with gravy, fried chicken, homemade matzoh ball soup, homemade veggie soup, pasta salad and any kind of noodles and noodle soups. I don't indulge in those things very often and some are better nutritionally than others, but they are my favorite foods and when I do eat them I always over eat them. So its time for them to lose their place on the pedestal! I will enjoy these foods without guilt (within hunger and fullness)! Oh, and peanut butter cookies.
Yummy reese cups, used to be my weakness but not anymore. I was reading this article that tells you the difference between head hunger and real hunger. He said something on the lines of a person who has head hunger will eat a steak or chicken breast only if it is seasoned but a person who is truly hungry will eat it plan without seasoning or anything. I don't know if I quite said it right but I ask myself if I would be able to eat a chicken breast plain or boiled with no seasoning and most of the time the answer is no. The only way I would eat anything plain is if I am truely hungry. I haven't been waiting until my stomach growls but I try to wait at least 4 hours. If I wait to long I get light headed, dizzy, and I start sweating a little.
Carlyjordan, I was just reading Dr. Rita's site today and she has a similar test only it is between an apple and a decadent piece of chocolate cake. The test is to ask yourself when you start to feel the urge to eat if you would eat the apple right now and if not, most likely it's head hunger. (But I'd still prefer the chocolate cake!) LOL!
I actually had a hunger for broccoli most of the day and finally ate some tonight. Nothing else, just broccoli. Wierd. I really wanted healthy foods today. Guess it is true that you will begin to healthy foods.
So, I thought I would start this way of eating yesterday am.
I wasn't hungry all day until around 3pm and ate just a little. Then didn't eat until 6pm. Ate less than I normally do for an actual dinner.
It is the 2nd day and 10:30am and still not really hungry, but I am having some really bad low blood sugar issues. I am light headed and shaky. I am going to go ahead and eat something even though I am not really hungry just because I can't function well with low blood sugar.
Anyone else experience low blood sugar, even when not really hungry? How do you handle it?
