Default calories, forgot it..

As far as calories go, I dont count them strictly, I take a glance at them now and then.. I pretty much eat moderate servings, the goal for me is to keep it around 2,300 or so , but I have no problem doing that. So I really concentrate on the 30% of fat in everything I eat or less, I just check the labels. Another reason I am not strict on calories, is i generally dont have big hunger urges, The high density food really feels you up, and satisfies you well. Well that's it. Take care

wow, i am impressed, you are doing great t-girl. i have tried this in the past and am scared to try again. there are just some things i cannot eat that are fat free, especially the cheeses. i guess i could go lowfat on them. i see there is alot of stuff to choose from. i know it can be done. another thing is , i hate math. i didnt feel like figureing out 30 % of fat that comes from everything i put in my mouth. is there an easy way to do it?? i know i can be so lazy sometimes, how do ya think i became overweight??? the only thing i have on susan powter is what ya got when you ordered it when she first came out. are there recent books out? what ones do you have???

Hi I have been on a low fat diet since March 2001. Other than having ym Gall Bladder out things have been great up until about 2 months ago. It's like I "broke the seal" I ate a few bites of Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream, something I have not done in so long and then I seemed to have eaten EVERYTHING I knew I wasn't supposed to be eating. Needless to say I have gained 10 lbs in about 2 months. I feel miserable, but I can't seem to stay away from junk food now. Here is the bottom line. In March of 2001 I weighed almost 260 lbs. I now weigh 155-160, but that 10 extra pounds is depressing me because I am so worried I am on the same path I was on almost my entire life. It all started after my Gall Bladder was removed, and that is one draw back to losing a ton of weight, but I would do it all over again if I had to. If you can give me any insperation it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Angry Ok, I have answers...

Hello everyone, and here is my line for today, no one is perfect, take it day by day. If you mess up, the thing you must do, is come back to it the next day!! I have had days when I said, oh, my and ate and ate, Guess what I did, picked myself up, and came back. That is where I messed up before, and went back to the weight gains,, I am determined, you can be too!!

This isnt a diet, Let's call it a long term change of eating.

Willbethin: Here is how you calculate it( I hate math too, dont worry!!) You look at the label, look for calories per serving, and fat grams per serving. You know every gram of fat is 9 calories,
Multiply fat grams by 9. divide the total calories per serving into that. Example lets say the label says 100 calories per servin, and 3 grams of fat. Well, 9(number of calories per fat gram) times 3 the total fat grams per serving equals= 27, then you divide the 100 into the 27, you will get, .27, bring the decimal over to to make a percentage, 27%, that's all. Some books already have it figured out too. I can eyeball it now, and tell if it is too much, . I dont like having to make a diary out of what I am eating, I have to be free!! So I know what to eat, and not right now, and it has only been a month. Hey have you tried Kraft non fat cheese, I couldnt stand most of them either till I tried this, it is excellent. Use seasonings, broth, yummy. I really dont miss the fat. After a week or 2 your body adjusts, and it is even easier. I hope you the example helped, and it doesnt seem like much.

the books I have are, c'mon america let's eat. and Stop the Insanity, and Food, I want to get her exercise videos, Been doing my old one I have used before, Tae bo, and all. It really helped when I got her recipe book. It's up to you, if you feel you can moderate yourself, do it gradually though. This isnt something that can typically be done overnight, Sometimes I mess up, but I just start over again.

Jennifer, yep, I did lose that much, and it is a blessing I can feel myself getting closer to my goal.

Andrea, hey girl.. I am proud of you, do your thing.. !! How was your day? I did pretty good. Keeping myself busy.

Alzym, Jennifer, and Willbethin, welcome, !! We can all motivate eachother, weight loss is not an easy thing!! Hey Alzym, you can do it, you did it before just dont give up now, I am counting on you!! I believe that we all can do it!! Dont think that icecream is gonna stop you, it is in the past!! Just pick yourself back up, and keep going, Think healthy, and know, we are not perfect everyone messes up!! It ok,. Keep us informed, We can all help eachother!!

Default here it goes

Well as I said earlier, did you see the plan I have for food from yesterday. Pretty much, I try my BEST to stay positive, and think one day at a time, If I do mess up, just come right back to it....

Eating, high density foods, such as rice,( long grain white rice, brown rice), I like pasta, (the whole wheat kind) veggies, all of them!! Fruit, whatever you like, meat, only lean, such as skinless chicken breast prepared in broth, with herbs/seasonings, baked, oven fried, turkey breast, very lean hamburger, very lean ground turkey. very lean sandwhich meat. bagels, I love wheat bagels. wheat bread, french bread, no fat shredded cheese ( kraft) I try to avoid alot of refined sugars, unbleached, wheat, flour..egg beaters are good. I snack on rice cakes, non fat puddings, and fig newtons!!. I cook with little to no oil, use the sprays. i make sauces from susan powter's c' mon america let's eat. and all her food pretty much, and invent my own. oatmeal, cream of wheat, for breakfast ( I know I havent mentioned it all, just going off the top of my head I dont normally write it.. )

Exercise, is Monday, weight, tuesday aerobics, walking and tae bo, wed, weights, thurs walking and tee go or kathy ireland, fri , is weights again, then i take sat or sunday off, do one day of aerobics and start the week over.

I weigh myself normally, once a week. The key is control, and try to avoid empty calories from "white" carbohydrate, white flour. and things prepared soley with white flour, alot of sugars( added sugars concentrated on high density foods as I mentioned they will fill you up, unlike the other ones from white flour and sugar. Stay focused, think long term, believe in yourself, you have control, not the food. Is there anything else I missed, You saw how to determine fat grams, try to keep it at 30% or lower, and you dont have to write down all your foods, just keep it in mind to be high density, and low fat. , you will learn what is good for your body, and not. You wont even have as many urges as before, if you stick to this. Well if you have any more questions, let me know, ok. I hope this is a good write up of it. Take care . Good night everyone
