I had no idea there was a vote for the worst campaign going on. I suppose it's quite funny but annoying. Do you pay for the calls to vote? I saw this on the AI site
Quote:

Telephone calls to the American Idol voting lines are toll-free
but I don't know what toll free means.

techwife 05-02-2005 01:22 PM

VEGGIE: Toll Free would typically be a 1-800 or 1-888 number, which would mean that the phone call is free. BUT, on AI, I believe they are 1-877 numbers which means you get charged for the call...I don't know how much, but I imagine it's more than I'm willing to pay  . The Vote for the Worst site is implorable. edit: I had the site linked here, but decided to take it out because it's a really disgusting site...they have messages on there that are waaaay out of control . Word to the wise, this site isn't moderated by people that keep foul language off their site...they're pretty much scumbags that have a few radio stations backing them up and they have this thing going that has people voting for the worst contestant, specifically to botch up a good show that they don't like. I say they just have way too much spare time and should get a life. Hey, it's a free country, right :dizzy: It really makes me not want to watch the show anymore. I really feel that there should be a limit to one vote per phone number or something to keep people from voting umteen thousand times.

ps...Veggie....Cartman is awesome!!

Suzanne 3FC 05-02-2005 02:25 PM

Yep, toll-free is like free-phone in the uk.

800, 888, 877, and 866 numbers are toll free. 855 has been reserved for toll free but is not being used yet. Found via google :)

Techwife, I completely agree that there should be a limit! It's crazy! I've also heard that some people are using some sort of auto-dialer to vote for Scott just to keep him on top. I don't think it's fair to allow multiple votes. Are people going to buy multiple copies of the next Idol's CD?

I think the should charge for the phone calls, even if it's just 25 cents. They could donate the money to charity, and it would help keep the voting fair.

The number for AI this year is an 866 number - Ryan keeps repeating not to call 800 because it won't go thru - I just text msg - It's quicker

I don't like to say the word Hate, but ya know, I'm beginning to hate this show and one particular player. I will say this, if he wins, AI will loose a bunch of dedicated viewers.

Antonio, yum, LOL ;)

I lost another 3.5lbs this week. I'm extremely pleased.

techwife 05-02-2005 04:17 PM

Clay and Suzanne: Okay...that explains the 'remember...this is an 866 number'...I thought he was saying that because it cost money...which is why I don't actually vote :o . I thought my DH would kill me. But now that I know, I'll be voting tomorrow night!! I don't know for who yet, but I guarantee it won't be for :rollpin: you-know-who :rollpin:

kclay61 05-02-2005 07:27 PM

Yeah :rollpin: needs to go badly - but ........................... so did Ruben

How annoying, it costs loads to vote on reality shows in the UK. At least some give a small amount to charity, but they do cost loads. I do find myself answering back to Ryan when he says about voting :p 'I can't it's not fair. I wanna vote'.

techwife 05-03-2005 10:41 AM

Veggie: I wonder...Its been a long time since I've called anyone in the UK, but can't you put in country codes and things, then dial the 1-877-whatever Carrie's number is? That's who I'll be voting for this week. Now that I know its free :rollpin:!! I can imagine it would cost a bundle and probably not worth it, but hey, ya never know!

Okay...back to housecleaning!! :stress:

ps...Ilene...where have you been?

Suzanne 3FC 05-03-2005 07:08 PM

I don't know where Ilene is now, but I bet we know where she'll be at 8pm  I'll be there just to see Bo, then I'm changing channels :p

techwife 05-03-2005 09:07 PM

I'll be sad to see Anthony go tomorrow night...but hopefully :rollpin: will be going. My daughter voted for Vonzell, I voted for Carrie!! I may vote for Bo, too after I get the kids in bed...

V, B & C were GREAT!! :rollpin: did really well with the Broadway song, unfortunately, but I didn't really like the second song he sang. Anthony is really starting to sound like an amateur compared to my favorite three. :( I still like him, though.

Okay...my point of view!!

Suzanne 3FC 05-03-2005 09:48 PM

Loved Bo and Carrie! But I'm not that big of a fan of Vonzell. I have to agree with Simon, I thought she was pitchy in both songs. But I always think she's a little off key. I'm not into the kiss blowing, either, lol. But I'd tak that over someone elses smug behavior any day! And smug seems to be the word tonight :(

Hi Suzanne, I'm here  and yes I was in front of the tube at 8PM sharp... My favs this week in order were: Bo, Carrie, Vonzell, Anthony and ya know  what's his name :rollpin:...

Both of Bo's songs were spot on I thought he sang very well...
Carrie was stiff in the second song, she can be when she feels out of her element...
Vonzell, who is usually my favorite didn't do well tonight...I agree Suzanne the kiss blowing is a bit much...
Anthony I don't even find he has any beat
:rollpin: can't stand the smug :censored:...

kclay61 05-04-2005 12:40 AM

Well I watched - Bo is, and will always be, my fave - he has been from day one - I don't care for Carrie's type of music, but she can sing, and she is adorable - I don't like Vonzell - Anthony is cute but he is pitchy - and well :rollpin: is just his total :rollpin: self, as usual

I have a feeling that Anthony will be leaving tomorrow :(

Sure do wish :rollpin: would leave instead

Irishgirl 05-04-2005 08:26 AM

Ok...I am going to rant here...I have a huge problems with one of last nights performers... and I'll get to in just one second so please excuse my :blah:

Anthony - His first song "Poision Ivy" literally had me feeling uncomfortable It was all over the place, and I really couldn't understand a word he was saying. His second song "Incomplete" I didn't even really realize what song it was until he got to the Chorus.... I give him an A- for effort, and D+ in everything else. He picked the wrong songs for him, and he could have showcased his vocals a little more.

Scott - I thought his first performance of "On Broadway" was a great choice for him..but is it me or does anyone else here think he sounds like Aaron Neville? And then when he came out and Did Brian McKnight's "Everythime you go away", I thought to myself "Yeah it was good", but I didn't like it all that much. I think he played it safe, and I am sorry to say He'll be here next week. Although he did sort of get too confident for my liking....

Vonzell - OH MY...where do I start with her..Her first song was a DISASTER!!
She was all over the place vocally, and yet again for her just like Anthony I felt uncomfortable for her because she just wasn't in control. Now is not the time for her to playing around, and letting loose as she said, because one mistake and you're going home. I didn't really care for her song "Treat me Nice". Which leads me to her next song "When you tell me that you love me" as soon as she came out with that I was :?: :nono:  :judge:

First and foremost..by her doing the "American Idol Song" It made her look really Egotistical and Pompus...it was almost like she came out all "I am the next American Idol, so I am going to do this song" but again I feel it was a huge mistake..My Fiance said the same thing it made her look really stuck on herself. And I agree the little kisses blown, and what not...please woman get off of your :soap:

Bo - "Yo Man it's like this" He is the man!!! He is the Dog Pound!!!
His songs were perfect for him, "Stand By Me" was Classic, and for the first time ever in all 4 seasons of watching AI faithfully, when he came out with "Heaven" By the Los Lonley Boys I found myself really getting into the song, bopping my head along to the song..you know just really getting into it. Way to go Bo!!

Carrie Carrie Carrie Carrie....WOW all I have to say is WOW...She did "Trouble" Another Elivs Prestley song, and she nailed it. She was in control of her voice, and lyrics at all times, you could clearly hear her, and she didn't turn it into a "Gospel" sounding song like Vonzell did. She was Amazing!!! Then "Bless the Broken Road" WOW I got goosebumps..and that was amazing..

My VOTE would have to be Carrie...she is consistent week after week, and she reminds me alot of Kelly Clarkson but I do think Carrie's Vocals are better than what Kelly's were on the first season.

This Week...who goes home.. I am sad to say but I think it's Anthony

Then Scott
Then Vonzell
Then I think it will be a tough call between Bo & Carrie....

Thanks for reading my post..and this is Irishgirl...out :lol3:

MachGirlie 05-04-2005 08:29 AM

I kept trying to call for Carrie but I couldn't get through. That HAS to be a good sign. I haven't been impressed with Vonzell lately, she is getting boring, all her songs are the same. Bo did great last night, as did Carrie. :rollpin: actually didn't do too bad on the 1st song, but he is so smug "Simon, you said I was going home..." :blah: I wish he would just shut his pie-hole!! Anthony didn't do anything for me, but he wasn't horrible.

Oh, and I tried to goto the "Vote for the Worst" site this morning and it appears to not be working right now  Serves that kid right
