Hi everyone! Clyde told me to check you all out and it seems we have several teams represented. I am a transplanted gal having grown up in Notre Dame country but been a Cubs fan since I could talk. Yahoo, for the moment they are in first place but they gotta keep winning. Clyde's Cards are breathing down our necks with every game.
Dempster is back from the dl and pitches for the Cubbies tonight. Hopefully his toe won't cause him any problems nor the fact he has been off for 15 days. We still have Aaron Miles and Soto on the dl. Seems like we get one person off and another goes on.
Loved the walk off grand slam by Soriano last night. As Len Casper said, "We only needed one, but he gave us four!" I have said for 2 years they needed to take Soriano off as lead off man no matter what he wanted and put him around 5th. DH disagreed and said that though he was not lead off material, no other place to really put him. Well, his lousy batting this year finally got him slid down to fifth, took the pressure off being lead off and he is starting to hit again. I love being a woman and being right about baseball!
Welcome to the thread gma22, or should I call you Faye ?
Dice-K is speaking with the Japanese Press about how unhappy he is with RS shoulder program... Funny, press says they had a 6 hour mtg with Dice-K, he said nothing about being unhappy... This pitch count vs. throwing thru the pain thing is driving everyone crazy... Apparently talks with Halliday have heated up again.
We are retiring Jim Rice's #14 tonight ... big ceremony planned... but I'm wishy washy bout him..
Heaven help us, what a mess was made of that game last night. One of the bloopers of the year will probably play over and over. Kosuke Fukadome was up to bat, hit a ball back to the pitcher and the ball literally went between the buttons of his shirt and got stuck inside. Kosuke got a single!
Dempster pitched pretty dismally, but he just came off the dl, so I wasn't surprised. On top of that, we exhausted most of our bullpen the night before so they didn't help much either. We went to bed when it was 6-9.
