Not doing so hot with the sleep thing, Susan. Sitting here being incredibly POd at my boss. Calls me up at the
beginning of the shift about a safety issue from the night before. He had absolutely no intention whatsoever of listening to what happened. Then makes a pronouncement "from on high" that in no way takes into consideration what me and my coworker were facing........AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Ya know, unlike most of the dip wads at this mine, this ain't my first effing rodeo. I was in construction before this. I helped turn my X from just another crew member into a Mine Rescue professional, a lead man and he's is now a Safety Director. I just happened to be with him every step of the way. We eat, drink and sleep safety every day of our lives. My DD wears steel toed shoes in fast food for Pete's sake. We wear safety glasses when doing yard work. Everyone I know back home is a miner. What the **** do you think they talk about when not at work. They talk about their JOBS.
So last night my co worker and I waited for the bus to pick us up while standing right next to four haul trucks that were being readied up by the next crew coming in. Remember my last avatar? We are the little people in the rubber ducky suits. When they started revving the engines to get going, we decided to get the **** outta there, but, we had to cross the haul road, which was not in use and being blocked by two of the trucks that were preparing to
run us down!!!!!!!! And all my boss has to say is "You're not allowed to cross a haul road."
Duh!!! They're not allowed to start moving with people on the ground either, but it sure as **** as doesn't stopp them from doing it.
Oh yeah and PS: These types of issues are not supposed to be brought up until the END of shift in order to prevent the drivers from becoming distracted by the situation. I was able to put it out of my mind till I got home. My coworker, however, wasn't and spent most of the night trying to find out who ratted us out, if we were gonna be written up or even fired with the present environment out there. Thanks for the Safety Share there Boss Man. But, now I home and POd as ****.
OK, Rant Over. Thanx for letting me get that off my chest. I'm gonna go try for some sleep.
Just one more night then I get to go on Blast Crew where my boss actually pays attention and gives a rats butt about us.
