Jason was really bad last night. What was he thinking with that Bob Marley song?! I think he's too goofy and he's not taking it seriously anymore. David A again I think he was way to breathy and I thought his voice was kind of pitchy. Syesha I didn't like her either...LOL! Her first song was a bad impersonation of Tina Turner. Why did she start crying? I don't know but my opinion is maybe she wanted some extra votes so she turned on the water works...LOL! David Cook....I LOVE HIM! BUT....I didn't like his first song and his second song was OKAY not great like his past performances. I don't know what happened last night but hopefully next week is much better. I was really looking forward to hearing everyone sing especially Cook because it was Rock N Roll week. I can't wait to see what happens tonight. Hopefuly they'll get rid of Jason Castro :D
|
Kind of bored with AI...watched Dancing With The Stars with Angie last night...it was good. Forgot all about AI...looks like I didn't miss much.
|
I pray, pray, pray Jason goes home tonite!!! I think Syesha will be next and it will come down to the 2 David's. While I truly believe David C. should win...I have a feeling David A. will be the next AI. He's young, he's cute & he's marketable. I have nothing against him but, I think David C. is much more talented. If David C. doesn't win, its not going to hurt him any. He's right up there with Chris Daughtry and who knows...we might even hear he's opening for Daughtry one of these days! America has gotten it wrong on several other occasions...lets hope they do it right this year!:)

Obviously Jason was a train wreck last night. In fact, he's been a mess for the last few weeks anyway. He hasn't really been good since his performances during the top 24 ("Hallelujah," for example). I do have to say, though, that I think he picked the best artists from the R&R Hall of Fame out of all the contestants' choices. The problem is that he picked such huge icons that it's tough to do them justice, and his mumbling, lyric-forgetting performances certainly didn't! I really liked him at the beginning, but he needs to be put out of his misery.
Speaking of misery, I really wish David Archuleta would go so I could be put out of MY misery. That's not going to happen, though. Honestly, I don't think he's marketable as a pop star. I think he needs to be in Disney movies like High School Musical. I can't really imagine what a CD from him would be like -- cheesy ballads sung in a breathy tone? God help us. Syesha has been doing much better the last few weeks, but I think she's made for Broadway. She should just get that Broadway career going and not look back. I wasn't really a fan of how she compared the civil rights struggle to her own personal journey to becoming the American Idol -- ick. David Cook was much more average this week than he has been, but I still really like him and think he's the best contestant by far. Whether he wins or not, he'll probably have a career. I'd call him the most marketable, actually. I mean, look at Chris Daughtry. They're not the same, of course, but the style is somewhat similar. |
A half hour left! I can't wait! :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:
|
C-ya Jason Castro...thank God!
|
I watched the last 10 minutes.
No surprise Jason left. His heart didn't seem to be in it. |
Thank GODDESS!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
|
 I really liked Jason. I liked the funny faces he made when he sang and I thought he had a clear, beautiful voice. But, I have been let down the last few weeks with his performances and I really think he wanted to be done with the whole thing. I'll never forget the Hallelujah song or Somewhere Over the Rainbow with the ukelele. I thought he was cool even though his performances were all starting to sound the same.
David Cook, though, is clearly more talented and shows a great deal of diversity. They can throw anything at him and he does it REALLY well (except Duran Duran...I didn't like that at ALL). I'm bored with the Archulator and Syesha. Bring on Cookster. We haven't had a rocker WIN AI yet. Some have become famous from it, but not win it. So, bye, Jason... I, for one, will miss you... |
Techwife, I am with you.
:( I was so sad to see Jason go - he has this charisma that is very charming...I don't particularly care for the dreds but he and David Cook are my fav's. I almost wonder, though, if he hasn't been wanting to go home. I mean Bob Marley is an obvious choice but "I Shot the Sherriff?" come on...I seem to remember an audition a couple of years ago where some guy came in his sherriffs uniform and sang that song - it was HORRIBLE and he was totally made fun of for weeks...Jason's poor choice of songs have to be intentional! I think Jason is ready to be done with the show. You know, if they win they are tied to the AI contract and very limited at what they can and cannot do...just sayin'. Syesha is beautiful and I agree she is made for Broadway! She has really improved the last couple of weeks. David A is a bore but I read somewhere recently that TV does nothing for him. Apparently he has a very pure, beautiful voice that is mesmerizing when you are there. whowoddathunkit? I don't care for him and I can't see him being a pop star - maybe another genre? He will probably win, though. I absolutely hate to see it, because in my opionion David Cook is more talented...but a rocker has never won. Maybe it is time..?!!! |
I definitely agree that he wanted to go home. His performances went way down the tubes the last few weeks and one time behind the stage, when the girls were practically shaking with fear of going home, Jason was yawning. This week he could have really cranked with a good Rasta song, but he wore his guitar like an accessory and didn't even play it!! I think way back he realized that he could well win the show and then AI would own him for a year and that, alone, can be pretty intimidating. I also think many people try out for the show without a real clear understanding of how gruelling the process can be. I think he got sick of it. Oh well, he was fun to watch while he was there.
I'm all COOKSTER now. :woohoo: |
Techwife & Tonia--I will miss Jason too, but I really think he was ready to go. I do like his mellow style.
I don't get the David A factor. I agree with the poster that said he would do good on the Disney channel. I have always liked Syesha but Ireally thought it was going to be a all boy final. LOVE David Cook.... Bo Bice still looked good to me though I didn't care for the song... |
I normally don't vote (except for the year Carrie won), but I'm going to start texting some votes for David Cook. I think he is clearly the most talented and deserves to win. I agree with many others, let's have a rocker win.
|
David vs. David...can't wait...
|
I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE American Idol. I was a frequent voter, watched every season, but I can admit that it's really going down hill and I truly believe that the show is somewhat rigged.
I do love the contestants this year (I'm rooting for David Cook!) and I have to agree - Jason was cool, real mellow, but he didn't seem like his heart was really in it to win it. I was kinda glad to see him go. |
I live near Salt Lake and this was David A week. All over the news. All over the paper. All over the radio. :fr::fr::fr: I can't stand it. I don't even watch the show.
OK, I watched Neil Diamond night. I don't care what his age is, he can drop his sparkly shirt under my bed anytime.:s::s: |
LOL About the sparkly shirt under the bed. I love Neil!! David Cook did a GREAT job w/ his songs, especially :-)
As far as last night, WHAT IS UP with Fantasia now? She looked/sounded absolutely terrible. Simon's face was so funny during it!!!!! |

I rode to work with my brother today...he has Sirius radio in his truck...they have a NEIL DIAMOND station going right now...loved it!! can't wait until October!!
oh....Angie and I just watch Dancing With The Stars now....pulling for Cook. |
I'd love to see David Cook win but going by tonight's performance I think young David did it.
|
I agree, I think it's David A, although they will both have amazing careers, I'm sure. I think David Cook has the originality and is much more marketable, but if we're voting by pure talent alone, David A. is it!
|
I have been sick and went to bed BEFORE AI even came on. I would love to see David C win but I think it will be David A. I totally agree David A has a great voice but it seems to me he's a one trick pony with the ballad only style(.....waiting to be bashed....) He doesn't do as well with the more upeat songs (jmho) David C is much more versatile.
As far as fans....to each their own.... |
Jules - I'm with you.
(please don't bash me but...) To me David Archuleta is a younger, more awkward Rod Stewart, or maybe a Phil Collins. Sure, he's got some fans, but his music all sounds sort of the same, and no one gets really excited about him. And he looks like he's in pain while he's singing, or at least really uncomfortable. I never once saw him do anything innovative, or exciting...just stood up there and sang ballad after ballad. After ballad. Maybe he's more of a Josh Groban or something...amazing, gorgeous voice, yes...but very limited in terms of what it can do (after all, you've never heard Josh Groban sing an upbeat pop number). Then you have David C - who more than once took an old classic song and really made it new, and special, and interesting...who is infinitely marketable (let's not forget, the former idol contestant who has sold the most albums is CHRIS DAUGHTRY), and introduces a category of winner that has never won the show before (rocker). I don't understand why people are so excited about Archuleta. He has a beautiful voice. Many, many people have beautiful voices. What makes someone a star is stage presence. I just don't see it. |
I think they are equally talented, but in different ways. Its all a matter of what your taste is. My mom LOVES the Archlator, but she also LOVES Josh Groban, who I find to be massively talented, but coma inducing all at the same time. Same with Archulator.
Cookster, on the other hand, is Daughtry with hair. Very talented, but slightly less polished voice than Archulator...slightly... I love his versatility. BUT...is it just me, or is he starting to remind me of a skinny Jack Black? :dunno: I'm on the Cookster side. Just for the record. But I like them both. |
Not sure, but I really think David A. might be a bit...OK...REALLY constipated...at least that's the way it looks to me when he sings and waits for Paula's fabulous comments ;)
|
lol. Funny, Gary!
Ok, here is a thought. I have from a reliable source (DH :) ) that the winner of AI is tied to a bajillion contracts for the first year or so of their career - not to mention a portion of the $ that is made. So...I wonder...if D Cook kind of...sort of...gave it up last night, ya know. Just a thought. I think he will be successful either way, though. |
Watch for the commercial for Guitar Hero during the show.
I swear at first I thought it was Tom Cruise in "Risky Business". Then realised it was David Cook. Nice legs. Great stuff David Cook. Hope to see that one again. Well they just did it again with David Archuleta but in my opinion Cook's was better. It's up on youtube if anyone missed it. |
DAVID COOK!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
|
Great to see David Cook win.
|
My DVR cut out at the EXACT moment the announcement was to be made. AUGHHHHHHHHHHHH! Good to now I can come here and see who won. :)
|
I'm glad Cook won even though he'll be their slave for a year or so. He'll be successful either way. I never understood the Archuleta love -- he bored me to tears. He's a cute little boy who can sing ballads. I don't even really like the sound of his voice -- it's too nasal or something. When he and Cook sang that first song together last night, I was embarrassed for him. He actually sounded good on that "Apologize" song with OneRepublic, though -- I was surprised.
And yeah, the Guitar Hero commercial was good. Cook's, I mean! |
I was a David Cook fan from the beginning. But after Monday nites performance I felt David Archuletta blew him outta the water. Woo hoo for David Cook! I am happy for him because this is his time to shine, he is at the right age for this to happen. David Archuletta still has his high school years and he should continue being a kid, but he will be a superstar from this as well. They are both truly talented peeps. And the sound of David Archuletta's voice, that is due to a surgery that he had, his vocal cord was damaged I read that somewheres, so he took the voice that he was left with and gave it a helluva run, so Kudos to him too, even though his voice is different, he still is a QT and his smile makes me smile....
|
I loved how humble David Cook was. Brooke made me remember how much I love her too though she wasn't everyone's fave. Syesha shone bright last night too, I think we will definitely hear more from her and I do believe I here the tapping of a Disney writer's fingers on their keyboard with a show specifically for David A, he has the wholesomness that they need again.
|
I'd LOVE to see David Cook tour with ZZ Top!! THAT was a fantastic performance!!!
