great updates
ive enjoyed reading your updates... I am starting my first round of p90x on tuesday and i am excited and nervous, but ready for the challenge!
keep up the good work and keep updating for us~! :^: |
Awesome updates! I am in week 2 of the Lean program and Yoga is the bane of my existence as well, LOL! Although I do appreciate all the stretching and minimal yoga in the warmups on the other videos...my flexibility has already noticeably increased.
I really like it, except for the yoga the workouts go by really fast for me and my kids just love to try some of the moves with me. (my four-year-old even started asking me to do jumping jacks with him at random times throughout the day, hahaha) |
I have been thinking about doing P90X but I notice a lot of women's after photos they end up looking kinda thick in the waist almost more square than hourglass or curvy. Do you think it has to do with which program they chose to follow?
|
Probably depends on their body type. I'm naturally curvy so I'm using classic first to get muscle built and toned and I'm almost to 90 days now. Then I'm gonna restart with Lean and go with mostly cardio to lose more weight. I have just lost fat and retained the curviness *shrug*. I'm sure everyone's body responds differently though :) Either way I love it and I've never felt so strong and just feels like "RAWR!" and dropping two pant sizes doesn't hurt either. Man, stickin to a good diet is tough for me haha.
I think some of the really "heavy into fitness" type girls that do it and I mean purely to get super lean and fit lose so much of the girly body fat that yeah they lose some curves, but thats their preference. I just wanna lose extra weight but stay somewhat fit ... that point where you know there is muscle but not super defined or anything. |

I'm back and ready to go!
I started p90x backafter having my son. I took the summer off cause life was crazy busy. But Now I'm back on. I got all my worksheets printed and am starting tomorrow while my son takes his nap. I also coach high school volleyball so I'm not looking forward to being sore from p90x and practice but I need to lose this weight!!! so here I go! Lasst round this forum was so helpful to keep me on track (that and watching the kardashian shows on tv I would die for any of their bodies!!!!)

I'm currently on week 2 of phase 2 of my first round of P90X. I am determined to complete the program, and thus far have not missed a single workout. I'm excited about that. I plan to do a second round after I complete my first, and then try P90X2 after that (which is set to release in December) and that program looks super hard so I need to workout hard to be ready for it.
I also have an interest in TurboFire and Insanity but haven't tried either one yet. |
I'm restarting my 2nd session of Classic again today ... I read that Lean was more for people already pretty fit and have the muscle they want. So I'm gonna make myself bring it harder this time and try my darnedest to stick to a good eating style. I admit I cheated on the foods sometimes lol. I definitely noticed a change when I would stick to salads and soups ... well less than 1300 cals a day and I still had plenty of energy for the workouts. So we'll see how this set o' 90 goes. Wish me luck y'all!! (Gosh darnit Plyo kills my knees though grrr but I loooove Core Syn)

Diet is key with P90X. I did not watch my diet in phase 1, and did not lose a single pound. In phase 2, I've been much more careful and am down around 10 lbs. My two favorite workouts are plyo and yoga. Core synergistics I struggle with, which tells me that I need to try harder at it this week - I want to be able to do Dreya rolls! LOL. I have trouble with them because my core strength isn't great and my upper body is so heavy that I have trouble getting up off the floor. |
I'd just like to say that I totally admire all of you for doing these exercises: they are quite long and really make you BRING IT!
I tried to start p90x today, and i didn't manage :x it was my first time exercising in... Well a really long time and I just couldn't do it :( Obviously I'm not in good enough shape for the p90x, but how how about the p90? Does anyone know if there is a big difference between them? As i couldn't do these exercises I switched to the 30 day Shred, but I'm combining with other videos (no plan, just whatever I feel like doing on a given day, today I did Rodney Yee - Power Yoga for beginners), so... Are there any of the videos in p90x that are easier than the Chest & Back, which I unsuccessfully attempted? Anything you find really fun/cool/interesting? Thanks and good luck :D |

Power Half Hour Power 90 P90X You might try doing Power Half Hour, progress to Power 90, then try P90X. I just jumped into P90X and decided to modify as much as I need to. I have heard that 30 Day Shred is an excellent program, however, and if you like that maybe stick with that until you get bored or plateau. Chest and Back is one of the harder P90X videos due to all the pushups/pullups but if you modify you should still be able to do them. Some people who aren't able to even do pushups on their knees lay on their back and do chest presses with dumbbells. Pullups you can use bands, or use a chair under the pull up bar and help yourself up with your legs. I enjoy all the videos, personally, some challenge me more than others. The ones that I find hard are the ones I know I need to work harder at- they are hard because I'm not in shape for them. |
I just started p90x and I really love it so far. It's hard but it makes me push harder. Tomorrow will be week 1 day 4 so that means its yoga. From what I've read yoga is about 90 minutes long and I don't know if I can hang in there that long, especially yoga.

Yoga is difficult, but in many ways it's my favorite workout of all. The fact that it's hard tells me I NEED to do it. And Tony himself says that if he had to do one workout for the rest of his life, he'd do Yoga. It's strength, flexibility and balance all rolled into one package. It really does help with the other workouts, too. I have chronic back problems from blowing out a disc in my back a couple years ago and yoga has improved me 90%, truly. I am pain free most days because of yoga. All that said, modify if you need to! The first 45 minutes of the yoga program is ashtanga yoga where you constantly do plank to upward dog to plank to downward dog to a moving asana like the warrior poses. If you need to, skip some of the plank/upward dog/downward dog parts and just do the warrior poses and such. It will keep you from getting too tired. The last 45 minutes are balance poses and core work and it's MUCH easier. So don't feel like the entire thing will be hard.
