HOORAY, low weigh-in this morning - 123.6 - can hardly believe it, given the huge bleu cheese steak BF made for dinner last night. Here's a blurry photo. Sides are Belgian endives with homegrown heirloom tomatoes, sea salt, rosemary and balsamic reduction; and asparagus:
Went to trivia night last night and avoided alcohol and fried food (may have had a few French fries off someone else's plate). Tonight is the last of the summer free concert series "Rockin' on the River," and just about every Wednesday for the whole summer I've had 2-5 drinks and been wicked hung over the next day. Maybe today will be different.
ChickieChicks - Hummus is a huge trigger food for a lot of people but no one talks about it. Who can have just a little?!
LeilaJey - You want a crazy dance workout, try a bhangra instructional video...the SHOULDERS movements alone are enough to leave me crying on the floor. Crocheting sounds fun I guess...when I have total alone time I spend it watching Star Trek on Netflix, so yeah...
JossFit - I don't get it either. Today I was 123.6 after the gym in the morning, and I had a HUGE steak for dinner and some chocolate (with non-starchy veg for sides, and went to the gym twice so I guess that balances it out). Best of luck battling the vacation eating - I am fantasizing about bagel sausage egg and cheese sandwiches currently.
TurboMammoth - I miss being able to drink coffee and feel hyper. Now I need at least 20 oz to just feel "normal" on any given morning! Hope you are back on track soon, chips and Doritos are designed to be addictive!
Jossfit : your shrimp and zucc noodles look deliiiiiish! Enjoy your time with your hubby I understand you not wanting to really god to your bbq, you probably just want to spend some quality time with your hubby!! I'm sure you'll do good on the vacation eating, you seem to be on a great strike of cooking and eating all natural!
Leilajey : workout and crochet seems the best mix ever! I love knitting, but weirdly people don't really ever get what's really cool about it! Which reming me I should still finish my scarf I started one year ago...
Chickie: I'm on the same boat as you, eating healthy but just eating too much... d*mn! We can do this!!
krampus : blue cheese steack! YUMM. You seem doing goood on handling the going out stuff this week! Good luck for tonight!
***
Back down to 138.4 this morning, thank you, quality time spent in the bathroom yesterday! I was planning to go for a run tonight, but I don't know if it's still going to happen, I'm feeling a bit weird and light headed right now. Maybe it would make me feel better going out and working out a bit.
I finally gave my master thesis to my boss. I am super stressed out about that, I'm afrait he'd be disapointed. Another student gave hers 2 weeks ago, but the girl was working with an research professionnal affiliated to our lab, who checked out her thesis before... I did not have that kind of read proof before handing it. Anyways. What is done is done... I guess. Still looking for job. My boss is paying me another month for me to finish a few things before I officially leave the lab (hello, adult grown up life kicking in!)
I haven,t cooked in like a week because I was so busy with the thesis, I don't know what I'm going to cook tonight. maybe some veggies & chorizzo couscous
Leila - Your post made me laugh so hard! Hahaha, sorry if this sounds odd, but it was almost like you had an ADD moment and were going from one place to the next; "I had curry farts and then oooh, pretty flowers..." Too funny.
Definitely look into the kettlebells, and let me know if you need ideas for what to do with them... they are so versatile!
Krampus - Mmm, your meals look tasty! I haven't experimented with endive much, but grilled like that with the tomatos? YUM!! Maybe I will grab some this weekend and give it a try.
Chickie - Glad you're back to your normal healthy eats! I'm sure it will make you feel better. Speaking of which, how are your headaches these days?
Turbo - Thats great that you got your thesis turned in! Regardless of the feedback, I'm sure it's a huge weight off of your mind. Your dinner plans sound awesome... chorizo cous cous? Man, between you and Krampus I feel like my meals are so pedestrian! I need to step it up! haha
I'm in a weird place Feathers... I'm trying to figure out exactly where I want to be with regard to my body. Its like, right now I will look in the mirror and think "Man, I look jacked today! Whoot!" but then I will catch a glimpse of myself later and think I look too skinny. I think it largely depends on what I'm wearing; if I'm in workout clothes or a more fitted outfit my muscle definition shows and I feel great, but in street clothes or my uniform (since they are all a bit too big) I look like a drowned rat!
It's frustrating to try to decide what to do with my body. Do I try bulking a bit and adding more muscle? Do I just maintain? Ugh, I don't know. Yes, there are definitely worse places to be with regard to my body... I am generally happy with it, I'm lean and can wear pretty much whatever, and that's what every woman wants right? Don't get me wrong, I really am very satisfied most of the time, but I do always strive to make improvements.
My arms are incredibly sculpted right now, but I think I would like more muscle on them at times. I have worked so hard to build up my booty and keep myself lean, but I want a bit more back there still... I don't really consider it being too hard on myself or picking myself apart - just trying to identify areas to focus on improving as a means of continual motivation I suppose.
Anyway... rambling. Off to the gym and then off to see my hubby!
chickiechicks At least it's healthy! I think that makes a difference anyway.
krampus Congrats on the weigh in!! That's awesome Ok I looked up bhangra, I might have to give that a go.. thanks! Mm steak and cheese. So good.
Turbo baha, get back to work knitter! I can't knit, I can only crochet. I'm making scarves to sell at a market and for presents.. something to keep my hands busy while I'm watching stuff instead of stuffing my face.
When will you get feedback on your thesis? Hope it goes great!
Joss haha, you know you're right, this is why I should totally proof read things
Well it's good that overall you're happy with your body! I think as long as you're not torturing yourself about things you're not happy with it's ok. You're taking great care of yourself and doing everything in a healthy way so that's good. Can you get your uniform taken in a bit? I hate wearing big clothes, I feel so much more uncomfortable for some reason.
Also I picked up 2 8kg kettlebells because they didn't have the other sizes in and the offer was buy 1 get the second half price. I can always sell them again anyway. I've also lost just slightly more than 16kg so it's really cool to be using that exact weight to improve my body. I was looking up all of the exercises you gave me Joss.. so I think I'll try a round of them today. Should I start with just 1 kettlebell?
I picked up a pair of size 8R jeans from a-wear in a second hand shop and they fit and it made me all emotional because I remember years ago being in their fitting rooms and only fitting into a 14. Weird. Then again TOM is on the way
JossFit : the chorizo couscous honestly took about 15 minutes to put together! slices onions, tomatoes, red bell pepper, spices and couscous... healthy dinner ready in less than 20 minutes, I LIKE!
I understand you concerns about your body. You said your uniform of daily cothing are a bit big for you. Maybe in more fitting clothing (maybe not your uniform, but your street clothes) would help you for that? Especially if you are saying that you feel better in your working out outfits and everthing.
Enjoy your time with you hubby!!!
LeilaJey : God I can't crochet at all. Actually, I say I'm knitting, but I only know how to do scaves. And like, plain one. I should look for a tutorial on youtube to add stripes to them :P How is the kettlebell training going?

The scale told me 136.4 this morning, which is a WOOSH from yesterday. I don't really know if it will stick, it might be a fluke, or something... We'll see tomorrow!
I was planning to go for a run this afternoon but the legs are just blaaah. I'm still probably gonna go out there and run to be in peace in myself about it! LOL
Tonight is going to be thai peanut chicken that the boyfriend asked for. If I control the portion correctly, it will be just fine! Plus I want to bake something with bananas, that I have in HUGE quantity in my freezer, and All Bran. I found a box of All Bran in the closet and I need to do something with it. Not eating it as cereal, because they taste like dog food, but still. If I put them in some muffin with cocoa and banana, it won't taste food dog anymore, no??
Phew! I made it through this week! It was a wild ride, culminating in working my school's Meet & Greet (as the Spanish teacher), then having hubby bring the boys up to the school for my youngest's orientation, then zooming over to the elementary school for my soon-to-be first grader's orientation. Hubby had to leave early for night class, so I took the boys to Dairy Queen and we also ordered an ice cream cake for hubby's b-day next week. Done! I have barely eaten all day, so I convinced myself that I needed a super small Blizzard. My youngest got a slushie, hated it, and ended up eating mine, except for two bites. Catastrophe averted!
I'm up to 126.5 and just truly getting skinny-fat. My lower belly was the very last thing to finally start getting toned, and after my summer of crap, it's b-a-a-a-c-k! I'm so afraid to jup back into working out, since high intensity stuff seemed to be a trigger for my migraines this summer. I really want to hit up Zumba tomorrow. Mornings used to be great for me, but now I'm not so sure, because if it sets my migraines off, I'm screwed for at least the rest of the day. So I think I might try working out in the evenings. That way, if I feel like junk afterwards, I can take some serious meds and go to sleep. Overall my migraines are better (thanks for asking, Joss!), and I really don't know if it is the new meds working, or I have finally just succumbed to not being as active. I definitely don't want that!
My hubs started back to university this week, so our renovation has been on hold until tomorrow. He has a four day weekend, and I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed him to get as close to finishing as possible. Drywall will be going up! Yea!
Krampus- still lololol. And seriously, is there anything better than a juicy steak and cheese? Preferably feta for me! Mmmmm.
Joss- I've been mulling over your post today. Do you feel like this assessment of being "too thin" in clothing is just one of those love/hate situations we find ourselves in. You know the back and forth, like feeling so hot one day, and the next feeling pudgy? Cause I get that all the time. Or is it something you have been considering for some time, and it's just finally making its way to the surface? If that's the case, maybe you could bulk slightly. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that you look amazing! Of course you will look more thin in clothing, because the muscle definition sets you apart. With clothes, it can't always be seen and appreciated!!
Turbo- what is all bran? Does not sound yummy! Lol I frequently mix in chia seeds, flax seed and other stuff I don't love plain....into almost any baked goods. When we made the cookies to sell for their lemonade sale,I put chia in them. congrats on the whoosh....love those!
Leila- 8R, baby! Congrats! I had to look nice for this evening and I was quietly celebrating the fact that my outfit was 2p pants and an XS shirt. Granted, almost everything I own is a 4 and those pants probably run big, but I felt good. I got my hair cut and colored yesterday, and afterwards I went dress shopping, because Penneys had $10 dresses. It felt so good to be able to clear the 4s and not the 14s!
Chickie : All Bran are cereals, I think they are from Kellogs.. They are like ''super duper high fiber'' cereal. And they really taste bad So that's why I want to hide them in something else ahah. Did you finally tried out to go back to zumba? You were in a clinic not so long ago to get some tests, did something came out from that?

136.2 this morning! yay! For 2-3 days I've been feeling much better in my body. The tummy does not stick out that much anymore, I guess the abs workout is paying a bit! I started the month by coming back from vacation at 141 lbs... August was great a term of weight.
We are eating out tonight, for the first time since our vacations. We are eating indian-bring your own wine-buffet night. Goooosh. I'll try to behave, I'm eating a banana right now so I won't get to the restaurent feeling ''EAT ALL THE FOOOOOD!!'
Turbo Congratulations on the whoosh! That's awesome Mm, I like places where you can bring your own wine. I like wine. And I loooove Indian food, so enjoy! Even if I ate a banana I'd still be like
Chickie You always sound so busy! You sound like you're being really hard on yourself, but those migraines sound absolutely awful.. I hope you can work out a routine to work out (I'm so amazing at language, right ).. have you tried pilates or yoga? Maybe if you build it up slowly it won't affect you badly.
Aww yeah, I'm gonna get my hair done soon too, such a nice feeling! You have Penneys over there? I wonder if it's the same thing we have here.. cheap dresses so it sounds similar. I forgot to say it's a uk8 so that's a us4.. but they were stretchy and I'm pearshaped all the way and by the measurements on their website I'd be in a 10. I'm a us4 on top though. I like American sizes they sound way smaller haha way to go on the 2P that's tiny!
--------
I did a kettlebell workout yesterday and I'm pretty sore today haha, although a lot of that is down to the start of TOM, a cold and my leg/*** muscles were sore yesterday already for some reason. I absolutely loved it though, I got all sweaty and stuff pretty fast. Well a lot faster than doing cardio and sweating makes me feel like I'm doing it right. The 8kg was pretty light for a lot of things so I did extra ones of a few things. I must remember to take progress pictures too.
I'm hanging out just watching stuff and sniffling. Lots of honey tea.. and honey and butter on toast.. I was back to 138.8 this morning so that was a good way to end the month but now I'm retaining water like nobody's business so I don't care about my weight tomorrow. That and the honey toast.. oh yeah and that slice of cake my friend gave me. Yum yum.
I'll be around all weekend, please feel free to tell me about your adventures and I can live through them while sniffling and sneezing all over myself. Oooooh yeah
Turbo Congratulations on the whoosh! That's awesome Mm, I like places where you can bring your own wine. I like wine. And I loooove Indian food, so enjoy! Even if I ate a banana I'd still be like
EAT ALL THE FOOD, indeed. God, I wasn't able to stop myself. I should have skipped the pre-banana instead LOL their cury was.SO.SO.SO.good.
And I drank wine. But I'm going hiking tomorrow. (like it helps my case LOL)
Good job on the 138.8, and take care of yourself this weekend!! I'll try to pop in to make sure you're not sneezing yourself to death
Well, I'm going to crash on the couch, because I'm tipsy. I'm so classyyyy!
O.m.g. Indian food is the devil! I could eat my body weight in it, not counting the naan! I've started cooking it at home, even making my own naan (not as good, admittedly) but my youngest loves it! He likes anything spicy.
hahaha, tipsy on the couch is indeed the sign of a classy lady. That's how I know I'm classy too, ok
I make a lot of my own curry now, lots of vegetables and I mix coconut milk with tomatoes. Pretty damn good.. oh man, nan, I'm scared to try and make them or I would eat it all. I usually just have a whole wheat pitta bread which is also damn good.
Chickie, your own Nan? Waoow. I saw a recipe once online but I was intimidated LOL
I make my own chickpeas curry too, and it's kinda not so bad now. But being soon out of the school and still unemployed, we enjoy our official ''last dining out'' evening for a while.
I was 139.2 this morning, I need to poop and drink water today to wash a part of the salt. I guess all-you-can-eat-delicious-indian-food-and-wine doesn't mix well with weight loss LOL
Questions : Seriously, when I was much more overweight, a cheat dining evening would never bring me up like THREE pounds over one night. But now that I am lighter, I seem to get bigger like a balloon anytime I eat a bit too much or something salty. Am I the only one with this situation??
Yeah I've noticed that too, I guess because we're smaller it's just more noticeable.. but I never weighed myself before this (d d d d denial!!) so I dunno, I could have gone up 20lbs after a meal for all I knew. I notice my belly a lot more now, but I can control it because I spent so many years sucking in my gut. I still do that but there's a lot less of it now.
Still sick but getting a bit better, everything's coming..out.. eughhhh. Spending the weekend internet shopping, oh god stop me. I ordered a bikini from Urban Outfitters (free shipping yeaaahhh) for 12euro down from 42. Hopefully next year I'll be happy to wear it.
I also ordered a thrill me set from Curvy Kate..ahh brastop.com sales, how I love you.
I'm going to make some sort of banana bread later (well attempt), in my mind it's gonna be super delicious. If it works out and doesn't look like a turd I'll post pics.
Drive by check-in! I'm having fun and relaxing with my hunny, and so far not *too* bad staying on plan. My workouts have been pretty great (I even managed to try doing dips on rings and I did it on the first try!) and we've been staying very active.
Yesterday we went to a great French Brasserie for dinner and I indulged in wine, bread and butter, a decadent dessert and a couple glasses of wine. It was an early dinner, so a few hours later when we got home we vegged out and watched movies while eating gelato, dark chocolate, and I had a couple bites of my hunny's cheesecake... so, not great, but well deserved and well enjoyed. Back to my normal ways today. We're doing a crazy hike here in a bit so I'll burn about 800-1000 of those dinner calories off. LOL, small dent, but better than nothing.
We actually didn't go to the fair, and instead opted to go to his family's ranch and do some fishing. Here are a few pictures from the trip so far!
This is my incredibly dirty cat... I gave him a bath and he looks much better than this now!
This is my hunny's first fish he caught. It was literally his second cast into the water! He caught like 8 total, and I got two which was awesome because I've never fished before.
I got a fish!
My husband's cousin has a pet raccoon... it's so cute! This is me feeding her M&Ms, which apparently she has a hankering for.
(Ignore all the crap in the background... this was outside of the ranch's shop, so it's a bit junky out there)
Thats about it for now... time to go shower and get ready for this hike! Oh, and I'm going to start a September thread right quick...
