:carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:

TheManekiNeko 09-24-2011 06:54 PM

I weighed in at 130.0 lbs exactly yesterday, despite being part way through freshers' week, so I'm hoping to be out of here soon.

100percentME 09-24-2011 09:43 PM

^congrats! im hanging onto m 139 right now, and even though i started out today really focused i got frustrated and splurged on some cake.
Here's to tomorrow being a better day :)

OhThePlaces 09-24-2011 10:18 PM

TheManekiNeko, congrats! You are SO close!

100percentME, I did the same thing... splurged on cinnamon toast. Oops!

Fayve 09-25-2011 02:28 AM

Been a really rough and emotional few weeks (feels like I say that every time I post). Weighed in the last 2 mornings at 135.4, which is pretty much a 0 loss for the last few months when you factor in the ups and the downs. Trying to focus on the fact that I'd much rather have that, then find I'm creeping up.

I'm getting the hang of keeping my eating under control with the occasional slip-up. My problem is the increasing laziness to exercise as the weather gets worse and worse. Might look into getting some workout DVDs or the Wii Zumba game for my apartment tomorrow, but I'm always so self-concious to work out in the same space as my father.

Here's to sticking at it in the face of adversity, ooph.

OhThePlaces 09-25-2011 01:21 PM

Fayve, you aren't alone. I'm at 134, which is actually UP two pounds from July! If we stick with it, our weight WILL go down though. :)

kidjng 09-25-2011 07:26 PM

I lost TWO pounds this week --- Yay me!!!!

The thing I have learned through this (sometimes slow) process is that you can have the occasional splurge or indulgence and still lose. Maybe you won't lose as fast as you would like but you will still lose. I had 2/3 of a 12 inch thin crust pizza with a glass of wine tonight. I'll walk it off at some point this week but won't stress too much about it.

Here are some inspirational quotes I found on the WW site. These have kept me focused this week.

"Steady and slow, learn as you go. Lose too fast, it may not last."

"It matters not how slowly you go, only that you do not stop."

"I may not be where I want to be, but I'm better than where I was."

Have a great week all!

ERHR 09-25-2011 07:45 PM

Hi ladies, I'd like to join you - though I hope not for long! I traveled a lot in September and ended up eating off-plan quite a bit, so I gained up to 134.0 lbs. But after a few days in a row on-plan I'm back to 130.8 lbs, about where I was at the beginning of the month. My next benchmark is at 129.0 lbs and I'm excited to get there!

ChickieChicks 09-26-2011 09:34 AM

Morning, ladies! I am at 135.0 this morning. Half way to getting out of the 130s. Sweeeeet.

Yesterday I did a Zumbathon, and it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. Fun, but I like my regular classes better. I hate feeling like I'm learning all the moves, b/c I don't get as good of a workout. I was there for about 1.5 hours before heading out. My blood was pumpin', so I went for a 3.3 mile bike ride when I got home.

OhThePlaces 09-26-2011 09:53 AM

Kidjng, thank you for the quotes. I especially love the last one... Definitely puts things in perspective.

ERHR, hope you're able to leave us soon! ;)

Chickie, I just begna taking zumba classes and it's so much fun... It really makes an hour of exercise fly by. A zumbathon sounds fun!

My weight this morning was 133.4. I was pretty off-plan yesterday, so I think it's a trick, but I'll take it!

kidjng 09-26-2011 10:57 AM

OhThePlaces -- do you weigh yourself every day? I guess I could ask the same question of everyone. I only "count" my Sunday weigh in at WW but I do monitor my weekly situation on my own as my weight fluctuates by up to 2 lbs in a week and some days I eat more bulk/carbs in food vs. soups and salads.

ChickieChicks - I went back and looked at my weight and activity logs from April/May and noticed that I was losing weight faster when I was doing zumba at least 3 days/week for an hour. I'd like to pick it up again but the studio where I was taking these classes is very small and their zumba classes are very popular - I always felt too cramped to freely move around. Kinda bummed about that as it was the most convenient place to my home and I am the type of person who feels that if a work out is not convenient I'm not going to do it!

OhThePlaces 09-26-2011 11:19 AM

Yes I do. I don't freak out over fluctuations in either direction, but I've found that weighing myself only once a week is dangerous, because on any given day it may not show a loss and so by weighing every day I feel like I have a better idea of whether or not my weight is sloooowly going down. :)

ChickieChicks 09-26-2011 04:27 PM

kidjng- I love Zumba! I only do it 1-2x a week, to keep my workouts varied. It is super popular at our Y, so I have to get there a half-hour early to line up. Thankfully the day classes aren't too crowded, but I went on a Sunday once and WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN! Augh!!!! ;-)

Weighing in- I weigh myself any day that I actually remember to step on the scale before eating breakfast. LOL It's like I can't "count it" if I'm not toally empty and nekkid. LOL It's probably every 2-3 days now. Also, I never count gains. Fluctuation is so normal, so once I hit my low number, I just stay on plan and that is my official number. If I go up 1-2 pounds from hormones, water weight, etc.....I just chalk it up to fluctuation. But I'm still losing pretty steadily, and haven't stayed at the same weight for more than 3 weeks yet.

kimmieval 09-27-2011 01:35 AM

uughh, last night my evil Wii Balance Board says that I weigh 130.25...I am going to cheat and say it is a days worth of food! Like ChickieChicks says, I am not counting "night" weight! lol
I was 129 last week so I am not sure what happened (haven't changed my diet). I want to see 125 on that screen.

yoyoma 09-28-2011 08:03 AM

Well, I've been on a roller coaster... busy, sick, TOM, up to 133 then down as low as 128. Yesterday 129.0 and today 130.0 (prolly cuz I just started exercising again after being sick -- I was POP and then some yesterday). It was great to see the 120s but I want to see 129 as my high normal weight, not just a sometimes thing. Only a couple days left in September and I hope I see them again! I am going to give it my best!

ChickieChicks 09-28-2011 08:42 AM

yoyoma- Being in the 120s as my HIGH weight is my ultimate goal. If on a bad, bloated day I am 129, I'll be stoked!

kimmie- How accurate is your wiifit? My friend's was off by 6 pounds!

What is everyone's goal weight and how did you decide that weight? I'm having a hard time figuring out what I should be shooting for. I'm just barely in a healthy BMI (24.3), but my body fat % is only 20. My body fat goal was 22%, so that is looking great. I have the weird Mommy donut around my belly button, but everywhere else I had very happy with my level of toning, etc. I'm just not sure if losing another 8-10 pounds will do anything for the donut, and might just make everything else skinnier and not toned. Thoughts?

yoyoma 09-28-2011 09:28 AM

When you gain muscle and get toned, you can look better than you do at a significantly lower untoned weight. It's surprising how big the effect can be (I've seen pictures, but don't have them handy). Also, I know myself that I am significantly more toned this time at this weight than I was last time. Last time, I wasn't happy with how I looked. This time, I am pretty satisfied. And I will say, the biggest difference is in my abdomen, which is now at a health waist-to-hip ratio (and wasn't last time). So, I guess I'd say that exercise was very important for me to reach an appearance that I was happy with, but I also had to lose weight to get there.

100percentME 09-28-2011 12:53 PM

^i agree that being toned makes a lot of difference. I'm a lot stronger and healthier at this weight right now than i was at this weight last year. and toning while you go is a lot easier than losing all the weight and then going "oops, guess i should prolly start trying to tone"

i got on the scale this morning and...136!!! its officially my lowest weight since July 2010. Im going over all the reasons that it might be especially low (i didn't eat a lot yesterday cuz i wasnt hungry, i took the dog on an extra walk, i just finished my period, etc) so idk if that 136 will still be there tomorrow but its so exciting to know that its within reach.

i originally had a goal of being 130 by November 8th, but after i stayed 138-139 for so long i adjusted that goal to 133. Im starting to feel like i can actually do this again.

i have to go get ready for work but i have to try on a couple pairs of pants to see if anything new fits lol

today is definitly going to be a great day :)

OhThePlaces 09-28-2011 12:54 PM

My eating has been off these last couple of days and I didn't step on the scale this morning because I didn't want to know! I'm also leaving on a 9 day vacation today so I'm really hoping to maintain while we're gone!

ChickieChicks 09-28-2011 08:31 PM

OhThePlaces- Have fun on your vacay!!! Enjoy!

100precent- wahoo! 136! Feels great, eh? I think 133 sounds perfect for Nov. 8th. My bday is the 5th and i REALLY want to get to 130. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the input about ideal weight. I'm now a 4/6 and just feel great. I'm going to keep eating a deficit, but only about a 300-500 daily deficit, plus working out. If I have more to lose, it'll come off. I'm just not in a rush anymore. :-)

ange82much 09-29-2011 04:23 AM

Hi all. I thought i'd left this thread last week, but then somehow managed to gain another 1.5lb for no real reason, so i'm still hanging in here at the moment!!

Going back to your toning conversation - this could be part of the reason for my increased weight as 3 weeks ago i started doing weights again 3x a week.

It's good if you've got one of those scales that measures body fat as well as weight - not that it's accurate or anything, but if you weigh at the same time each day then you can tell if your fat's going in the right direction even if the weights not shifting much.

I normally plot both my weight and my fat on an excel spreadsheet and they both fluctuate a bit but overall they both definitely trend the same way (but at least it's a bit motivating when the weight hasn't shifted but the fat's gone down!)

yoyoma 09-29-2011 08:31 AM

Ange, fluctuations are a sad reality. I've been known to gain 5 lbs the next day after a big salty bowl of pho (without noodles, not many calories). I can also gain that much when TOM is coming. And 1-2 pounds don't need any real excuse at all.

But today, I am on the happy side of those fluctuations, and back down to 129.0 :) . I am going to stay OP and try to keep it here because I'd really like to be in the 120s at the start of October. But I know that even if I don't eat a single bite between now and then, it's still a crapshoot as to how much the scale will say.

Congrats, 100percent on the scale whoosh! I find that weight lost after TOM mostly stays off. It's the time of month that I see the results from the previous four weeks of effort.

Jamie, have fun on your vacation!

Chickie, I didn't really answer your question about goal weight. So, the answer is that I kept losing until I found a weight I was happy with. My original goal weight was 150. I kept lowering it. But losing weight alone didn't get me to a happy place. Right now, I know I'll be at the sweet spot in the mid to high 120s. I am pretty happy with my shape and I don't want to lose any more boobage (as it is, my B cups are getting a little loose, and I just bought a Wonderbra on clearance, lol!),

Like yoyomama i figured it out through experimentation. My original goal was 135, because that is a "healthy weight" for my height based on the standard bmi calculations. Once i hit 135 i realized that i could keep losing weight and made my new goal 123, but i never actually hit that number. 127 was my lowest weight and looking back i don't know if i want to be any thinner than that.
My current weight is about 137 and my current goal is 129, just because i want to be under 130.

ChickieChicks 09-30-2011 07:20 AM

Thanks for sharing about the goal weights. I swear weight loss is SO confusing, especially since no 2 people will lose the same way, wear their wweight the same, etc. AUGH!

I'm down to 134.0 this morning. Feels so good! My goal for Septmeber was 135, so I'm not complaining. When I was running on the treadmill yesterday I realized that September is almost over. I'm doing a 5 mile obstacle course run with hubby and friends on the 15th and I hadn't ran all month! This month has been my first transition month, going from 1200-1400 cals a day and working out 5x a week to a more relaxed, and doable, 1400-1600 cals and 3-4x a week workouts. I didn't realize that by cutting a workout or two, I was subconsiously cutting out all my running! Maybe because i DETEST running.....shudder.

I just plain suck at it. I can bike miles and miles. No prob. I can get my HR up and feel like I am almost going to die in ZUMBA, but I love it! I pretty much love everything besides running, inside or outside. After 1 mile, I am going crazy, and I only do a 5.5mph pace. Sigh. So I was just have a mini-panic about this upcoming race. I really hope it is more obstacle and less running!

yoyoma- Congrats on 129! That is my coveted number. I'm pretty sure I'm going to faint when I see it. ;)

TheManekiNeko 09-30-2011 07:48 AM

I'm still at 130.0 lbs. So frustrating just waiting for a whoosh that will take me below and out of the 130's.

yoyoma 09-30-2011 11:15 AM

Hanging on to 129.0 this morning. I will be be *so* OP today and watching my salt like a hawk. I hope to see this number again tomorrow, but there's only so much you can do in the short run.

Chickie, I've never glommed onto running much myself. I have respect for anyone who can keep it up for 5K! Good luck!

Crossing my fingers for a whoosh for you, Niko.

100percentME 09-30-2011 11:54 AM

i got on the scale this morning: 136 and in my mind i was like w00t! im going to see 135 soon (once i get below 135 i want that to be my high weight that i never go over ever again). so with joy over the number i stepped back onto the scale and got a 135.8 :D
i think it was just teasing me since i wanted to see the 5 so badly; im still clocking today at 136 but man was it exciting to see that number there again. bmi calculators dont think im overweight anymore :D

chickie: im a horrible runner. im slow and i have trouble breathing. i get the stiches in the side a lot and with a lovely history of migraines if i run for too long my vision gets blurry. But thats why ive been dedicating myself to running. i dont do the inside gym very often because if im working out than i feel obligated to take my dog along, he needs some exercise too, and slowly and surely im trying to turn myself into a runner. my goal is to become one of those people who other people are like "omg why the heck do you like to run so much"
one day...lol

ange82much 09-30-2011 07:44 PM

ha ha, i love running. I was just gushing on the running thread about what a great trail run i had this morning, up and down hills, in the company of streams, flowers, kangeroos, parrots. It's the best! (once you've got through that really tough bit of getting used to it in the first place - although even the learning bit has its rewards).

I've not weighed today but was still up at 130 yesterday. Not in any major hurry i don't suppose. The plan at the moment is to stick to the plan.

Was pleased with myself for doing an extended spin class at the gym last night though, and THEN avoiding alcohol!!! Woo hoo!! AND it's a long weekend here this weekend so i've been extra disciplined, and will have to continue to be so!!

Fayve 09-30-2011 08:35 PM

Wow, some of you ladies are so incredibly close to the 120's, I'm jealous!

I made the realization a couple days ago that I'm not going to lose the weight I want by eating 1500 calories a day, plus my calories burnt from exercise. I kept being frusturated on why I wasn't losing, when in reality, it's probably very close to my maintenance level when you factor in that I've hardly moved my butt in ages, and any mistakes in measuring food.

Since then, I cut back to 1200 a day, plus half of my exercise calories if I feel like it (just want to keep my net over 1000) - Some days I eat 1050 calories, some days 1250 - whatever works really.

I couldn't believe it - after a couple days and some milk of magnesium (iron supplements have made it really hard for me to be.. regular ahem), I was 133.2 yesterday! That's way down from the 135.8 I weighed myself at on Monday.

I've been eating 80% super healthy non-processed foods for a few days now, and I feel great! Started Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred earlier today, and I'm exhausted. Hoping to stick with it.

Good job everyone!

yoyoma 10-02-2011 10:42 AM

Yesterday was my official goal date for the month of Sept and after one last day of being very careful, I clocked in at 127.8! Woot! So, I am claiming victory. :)

But after a couple of minor carby indulgences yesterday -- half a whole wheat bagel and some red lentils -- I was back up to 129.2 this morning. It's probably mostly due to the carbs, (I'd usually avoid those) but there is probably some salt involved too, since the lentils were cooked in bouillon. So, I need to build up a bit more of a buffer to stay at or below 129.0. I hope folks don't mind if I hang here. Maybe I should switch to weighing myself at night since I'm usually at least a pound heavier then.

Fayve, I agree that it's really hard to lose in this range. I need to aim for 1200 calories as a baseline and I also only eat back half my exercise calories. That way I get some reward but I won't accidentally end up gaining weight. Congrats on the loss!

Ange, if I could see kangaroos on a jog, I might be motivated to get my butt outside, lol! That sounds awesome! As it is, I settle for walking on my treadmill, but at least that way I can browse 3fc!

Congrats on the low number, 100%, and on the bmi! Good for you!

ERHR 10-02-2011 11:54 AM

Congrats yoyoma on staying below 130 even with your "indulgences"! I'd say that means you're firmly in the 120s.

I'm at 130.6 lbs today, but I've been here before so I don't expect to move out of the 130s in the immediate future. I've started following the workout plans in the New Rules of Lifting for Women so I hope to see some fat loss in the coming weeks due to that. Is anyone else doing that program or tried it in the past?

ChickieChicks 10-02-2011 02:53 PM

Congrats yoyoma! 120s locked in!!!

EHRH- So close...we have the same goals and height!

I went down again this morning, which never happens. I'm definately in a whoosh, so I'm mentally preparing myself for the long plateau ahead. Sigh. That's how it works for me, though. I started my official weight-loss journey on May 15th, and today was pretty special b/c I have lost exactly 40 pounds since then. 54 since the start of the year, but 40 since I've been actively changing my life. :-)

I am dead-tired and my hips are so sore I can barely move. I did this crazy run with my hubby Friday night, after doing Zumba that morning, and my body is NOT happy. Bleh. Back to my regular schedule!

ange82much 10-02-2011 06:49 PM

big congratulations chickiechicks, 40lb since May is huge!! You must be getting heaps of compliments and attention!
Don't worry about the body complaining - it's good for it to suffer a bit every now and then!

I left the 130's again this morning after almost a week of un-deserved gain, so i'm being a thread-whore and hedging my bets, and posting here and in the 120's thread too!!!

yoyoma 10-03-2011 08:31 PM

I was 129.4 this morning and 130.8 last night. I'm not going to move my ticker, but I am going to count my night weight for the purposes of this board. ;)

I'd really like 129.0 to be my high weight. I'll have to lose a few more pounds to see that happen.

TheManekiNeko 10-04-2011 07:34 PM

I got a shock today. I weighed myself this morning, having not done so for 3/4 days. I discovered that I now weighed 126lbs.

So I'm going to be moving over to the 120s thread. Hope to see you guys there too soon.

ange82much 10-04-2011 07:41 PM

great work Mane and YoYo hurry up and get across to the 120's thread!!

ChickieChicks 10-05-2011 07:24 AM

Mane,YoYo and Ange-We'llmiss you skinny-minnies! SUPER CONGRATS!!!!!

My weight is up a smidge, but I'm still POP. But I'm tiiiiiiired. I feel like I'm coming down with something. Blah!!! Grumpy week, and my Kindergartener is surely going to drive me insane sooner than later. He is my sweet, logical kiddo. Very rule-oriented. Well now he is in Kindy and EVERYDAY tells me how much I dont' know and that, "Kids don't do that..." or "NO one wears THAT..." and "I can't put my lunch in my backpack...NOBODY EVER DOES THAT!!" I want to claw my eyes out. LOL I'm happy that he enjoys school, but he knows everything apparently. (eyeroll)

ChickieChicks 10-07-2011 08:21 AM

Is everyone out of the 130s! LOL I'm jealous!

Hovering back and forth between 133-134 here. I know I am at the dreaded stall, probably for a couple of weeks. I know that isn't terribly long, but I have lost pretty steadily for months except for random 2-week periods along the way. Zumba today!

ERHR 10-07-2011 09:50 AM

I'm still here ChickieChicks! My weight is actually going in the wrong direction. I've been on plan for the last week and I started "lifting heavy" so I'm hoping it's just my muscles retaining water. I'm up about 2-2.5 lbs. How much did others gain (temporarily I hope) when starting to lift?

Munchy 10-07-2011 09:58 AM

129.4 - staying around here for the past two weeks. I'm ready to see 128!
