Hi everyone - how was your 4th?? I was good with my food but only because I was sick! I did have a big plate of steak fries though with a dash of salt... it really helped settle my stomach, though I haven't worked out in almost a week due to said stomach but hopefully I'll feel 100% tomorrow and get back to Turbo Jamming! What do you guys do for exercise?

Holidays are a killer for me. I did watch what I ate though, sticking mainly to salads (but potato salad isn't that great). I'm afraid to weigh in.

Morning!

Yesterday we went for a nice walk on the boardwalk at the beach and then went out for fish and chips and ice cream. And you know what? the fish was crappy ... not worth the calories.

So the scale is a little up from that <<< but not bad.

Good morning!

I'm just a smidgeon over that profile weight which is awesome for me for a Tuesday. That means that if I stick to my plan all week, I'll have a new low!

Yesterday, I walked and walked. I ran errands and forgot something so I had to go again. I gardened a little and did a bunch of housework. Surprisingly, I wasn't all that tired at bedtime. I was, however, sound asleep when the alarm went off.

Hi everyone! I've been a little hesitant to post here because I really don't "feel" like a featherweight, but I figure I should try something new and you all seem great!

Quick background: I've been on the chubby side since childhood and reached my highest weight (173!) in college. After graduating and putting an end to ridiculous amounts of alcohol and greasy food, I made it down to mid-150s and just figured I was meant to be a bigger girl and my body was happy there. Turns out, my mind was really unhappy there, so I finally got around to doing something about it! I've totally turned my life around in these past 3 months, in terms of healthy eating and exercise habits, and finally feel great about myself. Now to keep going once I start my 2nd year of med school in a few weeks...I think I'll need your help with that!

But now, I'm of course struggling with these last 7-8 pounds. Ugh. I've been feeling hungrier lately and 1200-1500 cals just doesn't seem like enough, but I really want to lose these last pounds so I'm torn between taking a few weeks "off" (eating 200ish more calories of only the healthy, great food I've been eating) or just trying to push through and keep going with what I've been doing, which has been working. I know the last pounds are the hardest, so what have you guys found to work best? Increase cals, lower cals, keep the same range?

Sorry for the super long post! I'm looking forward to being a part of this group and sharing all the ups and (hopefully not too many) downs of this crazy journey! Thanks!

Minitwinkie - I always weigh first thing. My morning routine is: get up, toilet, scales, breakfast, coffee.

Taking charge - welcome! Probably not helpful, but what I actually did was stop trying to lose! I hit my initial goal of 140 back in September and started to maintain. I started running in November and inadvertently lost about 3 lbs without trying (careless I know!), then decided to make 126 my goal and really went for it. It took a few false starts but it's really working this time, but I put it down to the running. Since getting fitter I have found it MUCH easier to lose the weight.

Hi takingcharge!

this am I saw 126 on the scale. now back to those last 7 pounds.
my work schedule is changing a bit and it's getting difficult to rely on the 10+ miles built into my week like I've been. and I am back to charting calories which has a beneficial effect on my intake.

back to work.

have an op day

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! I've been trying to increase my exercise lately, but I think that's contributing to my hunger, so I feel like that evens it out.

Robsia - I've heard that trying to maintain actually does help some people lose weight. I'm not quite sure I'm ready to increase my cals to maintenance range (who even knows what that is??) because I really, really don't wanna gain, but I might try to plan to eat at the high end of my range (1500) for a week or so. Hopefully that'll help! I'll check in and let you all know how it goes.

Kittycat - You're doing great! If you don't mind sharing, how many calories are you eating? Are you doing "weightloss" stage again to get back into your maintenance range?

Oh, I also weigh every day, very first thing in the morning, in the same pj pants (which I just found out weight 0.6 pounds!!).

hi TakingCharge

Well, this week is a good week food and exercise wise... Not losing any weight though but I do feel less bloated go figure...

Tomorrow is my last day of work, then VACATION for 4 weeks can't wait... Vacation time is a double edge sword, more time to exercise BUT more time to eat ... Oh, well, c'est la vie, I'll just have to bike more... We're going to Newfoundland, can't wait, I hear it's beautiful country....
