Waaah..... scale was 2 pounds up this morning. I'm sure it has something to do with the two helpings of pot roast and mashed potatoes and gravy last night. But I vow to be on track today and get back down by Saturday... my weigh in!
michelinwoman, first just please forgive me for having zero memory, but could you remind, have you been doing some specific plan like WW, or have you been calorie counting particularly, etc? And has there been a specific exercise plan I missed like the gym or a walking plan? I know you said there was a lot of activity on your trip like bike riding. (Building muscle even in fun ways will cause the scale to go up in a good way.) Just thinking we can encourage you as you scoot away from that personal high.
((Ilene)) thank goodness it was only a glitch in your plans and nothing that hurt you.
Thanks so much for the kind mentions. Yep definitely a "keeper" number, AquaWarlock (until I can go even lower - you don't need to). I first started losing in August, so 9 months on the way down and so this is a non-temporary mindset and I'm surely not going to let any of this progress get away, canadian mom, that's right! I am gradually getting into maintenance mode, though, moving from 3 hours to 2 hours of workouts per week, but see that AquaWarlock has a different idea!
My youngest insisted on staring at Barbara's post to me - waiting to see WHEN the bunny was going to eat the carrot.
Hi, Cats Tongue - get those measurements recorded and start changing them!
Hi, Tracy - could just be temp water weight if meal was salty? Gravies can do that, yep they can!
Not uncool, Dagmar - although remember that we are a nice diversion, and exercise relieves stress!
Well, as I suspected the miracle surprise 2 lbs are back again today, but the momentary loss gives me encouragement that they'll be back off again soon.
Tracy - 2 lbs is 7,000 calories (just like it takes a deficit of 3,500 calories to lose 1 lb, it takes an overage of 3,500 calories to gain a lb). To have gained two lbs from the pot roast, et. al., your 2 servings would have had to have been 7,000 calories. So it's doubtful it's really the pot roast. Also, I don't think weight from over-indulging shows up quite that quickly--it usually takes several days to a week for it to show up on me. But when I eat off plan, I often show a gain of water weight very quickly. So my guess is the 2 lbs is just water and most of it will be back off in a couple of days. Oh, and welcome to the forum, BTW.
Whittlin - Too funny about your daughter. I hope she wasn't too disappointed about when bunny never ate the carrot. How long did she wait?
Whittlin - well done, that's really great. I'm going to try hard to join you sometime this year
Warlock - I was about to post on your thread in mini goals when I got distracted so well done to you too.
Ilene - I am so sorry about your accident. It must have been scary, putting aside the damage.
My plan for this week is to just get on with it. Obstacles were thrown up in my path last week and, true to Doughnut form, I fell at each and every one of them and as a result am up nearly 2 lbs. I went to work last Monday at 8:30am and three hours ish later I was on a train to stay for a week in a hotel. A colleague who was supposed to be going on a training course rang in sick and I was the lucky(?) mug who got sent instead.
Well, that was last week and I ate and ate and ate. This is this week and 6 weeks till my beach holiday. If I'm going to be under 140 I'd better consign last week very firmly to the past, where it belongs. I may as well start by being honest. I've changed my ticker back and will own up to the fact that this is my first on plan day in 9 days but I WILL make it.
Well not really, but we're going out tonite with the kayaks and eating dinner on a small beach at Toronto Island. The government business can wait til tomorrow - too beautiful an evening to spend putting up flyers!
Dagmar
Dagmar, that sounds like some awesome kayaking! Enjoy it!
Doughnut - your post reminds me of where I am right now with all of this. I will keep an eye on you if you'll keep an eye on me. I've had lots of obstacles too, but really my head has just not been in the right place with counting calories and exercising enough. I, too, am trying to get back into my groove. I know you want to look and feel good when you put that swim suit on at the beach!
Well, I went to Pennsylvania for a family reunion over the weekend- I didn't do too terribly with eating, although I indulged a little and didn't count (too hard to count when gone for 3 days). DH passed a Chipotle on the way home - I've been wanting to try it for a long time, but we don't have one near us. DH had been to one before when he was out of town with friends. They have the BEST burritos... do any of you have a Chipotle nearby? I didn't bother to look up the calorie count, since it was a one time thing (sure it was high because this was a big burrito!).
Anyway, today I'm back on track, and in fact, gearing up to go for a good walk. Hope everyone is having a good day!
Oh my darlings! I am sooo whipped.
I couldn't sleep any longer so I got up at 5 and went for a walk/jog ... had a busy day at work and then couldn't say no when my friend asked me to walk this evening. I should sleep!
In fact, I think I'll take my book and go to bed in just a minute here.
Hi everyone, well I'm back at the pool where I love to be actually. Nothing is as good as swimming to make me feel so good afterwards. I think I am addicted to the smell of chlorine...now is that weird or what!
Also I played my first golf game tonight and I did really pretty well considering I haven't held a golf club since last August. 2 of my kids went with me and we had dinner afterwards (salad for me and poutine and hamburger for them!) I stole a couple of fries just to taste them, but didn't overdo it. So, in the exercise area things are going well.
There's about ten days per summer that I wish we had a pool. I don't swim, can't ... but the relief from the heat is fabulous! Nice cool way to stay in shape.
All that exercise got the best of me yesterday. I was starving! I got back up and had some nuts and things. Bumped me up over 2000 cals. I should have just gone to sleep but "House" was good.
I was good yesterday although I skipped breakfast. Had slimfast for lunch, "snacked" on a bowl of potato soup at mom's and had a very small greek salad for dinner (and no sweetened drinks). Now, if I could just eat like that every day, I'd be back to a good weight. I took my waist measurement the other day and it was 136 (yikes). I always have a big waist. Even when I was 20 and had absolutely no fat on me (weighed like 115) I had a 27" waist. I'd love to get my waist down to 30" and say bye bye to back fat. It has been in the upper 80's here and makes it hard to walk outdoors. I'm thinking of getting rid of my stationary bike and getting a treadmill again. I originally sold my treadmill because I wanted to burn more calories in the same amount of time on a bike (and running is out of the question). I did great on the bike for awhile, but then started having knee problems from it. Now, every time I try it out I limp around for a few weeks...so I give up. I guess walking is the only thing I can do that doesn't cause permanent injury. Has anyone tried a treadclimber?
whittlin: I have been counting calories (using fitday off and on). I have been walking 3x/wk about 2 1/2 miles and occasional yoga. I noticed you have SE US listed as your location...you know how we love our food in the south...that is probably the problem! I started slimfast again. It seems to be the only thing that gets weight off fast...basically a starvation plan though.Your progress has been great....I'm jealous.
mudpie: I was thinking about getting a kayak. There are a lot of boaters on the lake near me. Is that a problem when on a kayak...does the wake tip you over?
I got up at the forsaken hour of 3:30 a.m. today -- have an emergency drill at work @ 5a.m. that I HAVE to participate in. So I got up, had a muffin, did my abs & upper body workout and rolled into work.
Yesterday isn't good for me either calorie-wise, over 2000. Plan to do better this week.
