Thanks for all the advice...I'll try to take it to heart. I definately need to cut the cola out PERIOD! Even sweetened tea is good next to the cola calories! 2frustrated, you're right...not too big on cooking and when I eat out, I tend to eat fattening foods. Goal for this week is to start back with a walking program. I got so winded today, it affected my ability to talk just from walking my little 25 lb nephew (carrying him) up hill about 100 ft from his yard swing to the porch (pretty embarassing!). My dog is getting fat (from not walking him)....that should be motivation enough, being a bad dog mom right now.
Tried to eat a better lunch...but came into contact with southern food which I won't name (so as not to tempt the readers with food porn). While at my nephew's house today, they started cooking homemade fried peach pies.....tried to resist, but had 2! Maybe best to avoid family's house during lunch/dinner times, as the only food choices are super yummy and fattening!
Do you guys have family members who sabotage diet plans by cooking constantly while you are around and subjecting you to multiple dessert choices, snacks, etc. My extended family has no regard for their weight or health and the food choices available while at their house shows it....it is very hard to resist (I'm like an alcoholic in a bar there!)!
Michelinwoman, my husband isn't the biggest healthy eating fan, which can make it hard for me. (I'm doing so well right now since he's gone all weekend!!)
Usually, we can agree on a meal or, when we're going out, a restaurant. If it's a meal, he'll just have a much larger portion than me (which is normal male behavior) and, at a restaurant, I can pick a healthier selection.
But he has a major sweet tooth and his weakness is chocolate. He wants to keep it in the house, and I don't think it's my place to stop him, since he's not overweight or in poor health. It's taken a long time, but when I see him eating sweets, I've just learned to either skip it (if I'm not really hungry), substitute something a bit less caloric (say, low-fat yogurt for ice cream), or have a very small portion.
I got to come home after 4 hours. Not enough sick people.
Let me tell ya ... I'm pretty happy! After having a kinda flat week (ya know, the depression thing) it was sooo encouraging that something had gone right. I can't believe how much of a difference this has made to my mood today.
Is it bad if I am under 1,000 calories today (plus have exercised quite a bit)? It's a combination of my weird schedule (that I posted about earlier), focus on my dog and my paper, and the heat that just killed my appetite today.
It's already 9 p.m., and I just had dinner and really don't want to eat another thing.
Hmmm ... that was a good day! I think I'll take my celebratory lite beer to bed with me and do some abs in front of Flip the House.
Sleep well my slenderizing friends.
