This weekend while watching CFC I had an a-ha moment. After Carnie did her weigh in and finally lost weight she mentioned that she was eating every 3 - 4 hours ....LIKE THE DIET SAYS TO and it was much better for her.
Well Hello! That is probably why I am not dropping like I should. I was still keeping my calories in line, however I was going hours, I mean hours without eating. For example, last week I got up and went to the gym. I ran for 2 miles and did some additional cardio so a total of 1 hour. I then had to run some errands and did all that I had to do before coming home.
I came home at 12:30 and then had some lunch! So not only did I skip breakfast but I did an hour of cardio and then did not eat until 2.5 hours after. I am sure my metabolism is so messed up from my college years of dieting...skip dinner, lose 5 pounds. That does not work any more.
So, I am back on track, after being in my funk for the last 2 days. I have my outlook reminding me to eat every 3.5 hours. This is a test to see if that works better for me.
Hope it happens this week. I want to see more than the 6 pound loss!!!
Well it's the morning of day 1, P1 and I'm feeling good. My official start weight is 203.4. My menu for today is:
B: oatmeal with a banana
S: Smoothie (1c milk, 6oz FF vanilla yogurt, frozen peaches)
L: Salad w/ 2 T. FF Dressing, herbal tea
S: Carrot sticks, cucumber slices, and apple slices
D: Veggetarian Chilli, herbal tea
Is this ok for a day? Dh is doing this too and his start weight is 190.6. I will weigh again on day 10 and post those results. I really want to do this right. I hope everyone is good today. Well I'm off to take thet kids to school and the dog to the vet. Have a Smashing Day everyone!
Hey friends! Hope all is going well your way! I'm having a much better week. Thanks to those to sent me good thoughts after my less-than-steller weekend. Sometimes it's hard for me to NOT let my family get the best of me, and this past weekend, I let that happen. My fault, I know.
Hubby and I went to a Chinese buffet for dinner last night. I couldn't believe it but I did really well. Had a salad with a bit of cheese (I'm liking Phase 2!), 2 egg white 1/2's, what i was told was lite ranch dressing, but didn't take more than a tablespoon, just to be sure, and a huge tomato slice and some grapes. Was quite nummy! Egg drop soup and crablegs (those suckers take FOR EVER to crack!!) to follow, then had some broccoli out of the chicken and broccoli and was full. That was NOT like me at all. I'm usually a 2-3 trip person, plus a swing by the ice-milk machine. And it wasn't the "full" like I-can't-believe-I-ate-that-much-full, it was more like I'm-done-full. About 3 hours later, 9:00'ish, I had my evening snack (those delicious oatmeal/banana cookies) and I was satisifed.
I tell you, this is a whole new way of eating for me. I no longer eat until the "points" are gone (for you WW folks), I eat until by body tells me to stop. Hmmm...Listening to your body...What a concept. And it took me only 30+ years to figure it out!!!
Well, off to a meeting. Wishing all of you a good day!
HI!!! I am on day 3 of Fat Smash and doing really good. I peeked at the scale today (I needed a weigh in for a challenge) and I have lost 2 pounds already. I promise I won't weigh myself again until day 10. I want to be really surprised.
Food hasn't been a big problem for me. No headaches or cravings...well maybe sometimes I get a craving but they pass through really quick. All I need to work out on is gettign some excercise in. Then I'll be all set!!!
Hi everyone, I have been so busy have not had a chance to check in. Im glad I did you ladies seem to get me on track when Im down.. Thanks Everyone!
I have not been eating the way I should the last two days, I have been out to eat twice, I didnt cheat. I have just been eating more than I would like too, and I have not exercised like I have been. I tell you what between 4 pm and dinner I am such a snacker, I tell myself NO and try to wait for dinner. Well I guess I should go exercise I think that will help me some more. But again Thanks Ladies all your posts are helpful to me!!
I've finished up day 3. The food choices haven't been a problem when I finally quit fighting the "can't haves" There are a lot of can haves. Just had to change my attitude. My 2 sisters have joined me in this and it helps. They keep asking about what foods to eat etc. Makes me be more creative.
I'm a southerner and love fried green tomatoes. I tried using a very small dab of olive oil and no breading. They "fried" up nicely.
Any ideas for breakfast other than oatmeal or smoothies will be appreciated.
I sure want to weigh in, but must wait.
I'm trying to get some exercise in because I know that is going to be critical, but with arthritis it is hard. At least I'm doing more than I did before and pushing a bit more everyday.
Hi all! Unfortunately, still sick over here (but thank you brandilynn for the well wishes!) I'm keeping in line with the foods, and I'm trying to eat more, but I hate not exercising. I could prolly do strenth training or something but Dr. Ian says to hold off on that and stick with cardio, which would prolly kill me what with this nasty hacking cough I have. Boo! I've decided to stick with Phase 1 until I have my full 9 days with exercise. I've been hitting the meds so hopefully in another day or so I'll be back on track.
AuntieCiCi, I know how you feel w/ the whole unsupportive fam thing. My mother is constantly harping on me saying "you won't eat what now?" Last week we went out to dinner and I got a plate of steamed veggies and she was upset! Her reasoning is she feels "bad" when the rest of the fam is eating a "heartier" meal and I'm not. The nagging makes me yearn to go back to university and the dining hall! At least there I could make healthy food choices without all the guilt! (I did not gain the requisite "freshman 15"-I actually lost weight!)
OK 1 day down, 8 more to go. I didn't cheat. I stayed completely on plan. I was hungrier than usual. I usually never eat breakfast and rarely eat lunch, but yesterday I ate 3 meals and 2 snacks and seemed to be hungry all day. Wierd! The craving weren't bad at all. I had a bit of a headache but nothing major. So all in all a good first day! Hope everyone else is doing good. TTYL
Well I just got back from the gym and I am extreamly proud of myself. I did 25min on the treadmill, 10min on the eliptical and swam 6 laps in the pool. It may not sound like much but for me this is huge! So far today I'm OP with my eating and surprisingly I have a good amount of energy right now. Oh also DS's preschool teacher sent home some cookies and chocolate candy that a mom had brought in for the kids and I didn't touch it. I took it out of his book bag, looked at it and thought nope it's not worth it (the mental anguish, feelings of guilt, or extra calories and fat) and I threw it away when he wasn't looking. That's a big step for me! I have never been able to resist sweets. I'm one of those "a little bit won't hurt" people. But it always turns into alot not just a little. So I hope I can keep this up!
AuntieCiCi- WTG on your eating! Good job!
Rosario- Wtg on the loss!! Keep up the good work!
brandilynn24- hang in there, you're doing great just making changes for the healthier!
dweeb- congrat's on making it through 3 days. Keep up the good work!
mellybelly- I hope you feel better soon! Being sick is the worst. Get well.
Well I'm off to clean the house and get the errands run. Take care everyone. TTYL
uuggghhhhhh...Well I was doing good up till tues. Blew it right out of the water! I needed meat and bread!(so I told myself!) So here I am again, starting phase 1 all over. I've got a big batch of veggie soup simmering away on the stove right now and I've got tonnes of fruit and veggies in the fridge.
Think maybe tomorrow I'll try to make those banana oatmeal cookies and get some frozen fruit for smoothies.
Saturday dh and I are going to a WHO concert and will probably be stopping for dinner on the way. I have know idea what restaurant we will be stopping at, but I do know what to eat and what not to eat so hopefully the menu will be accommodating(sp?)
You all seem to be doing great! I need to check back in here more often and get the uplifting support I need.
I'll check back in later and tell you how my soup turned out.
Are you supposed to start over if you slip up??? Or is up to the person??? I messed up last night for dinner but am continuing on with Day 4 of Phase 1 (and doing great!!).
I don't think you have to start over if you slip up, but I'm choosing to do so as I really lost it for 2 whole days.
I made this wonderful delicious soup today....gosh it's soooo good.
2 onions sliced
4 cloves of garlic chopped
2 stalks of celery sliced
2 cans of sliced mushrooms
1 lrg can chick peas, rinsed and drained
1 lrg can black eyed peas, rinsed and drained
4 carrots chopped
1 cup of frozed mixed veggies thawed
1 can of diced tomatoes, Italian style
1 med zucchini chopped
2 lrg cartons of low sodium beef broth
tomato paste
basil
oregano
chili powder
cayenne pepper
4 bay leafs
In a large soup pot sautee onions till they turn transparent. Add all the beans and veggies except for zucchini. Add broth. Mix well. Add spices, to your liking. Add tomato paste, as much as you like. I used half a small tin. Simmer for an hour on med/low heat. Meanwhile, cook some brown rice. When you have about 5 min left of cooking time for brown rice, add zucchini to soup. Cook for another 5 min, till rice is done. Spoon 1/4-1/2 cup of brown rice in bottom of soup bowl and then add soup to bowl. Mix. Yummy! Makes alot of soup!
oops!! I slipped up again for lunch (not as bad as last night though). I will see how the rest of the week goes and if it is good I will continue on to P2. If it's bad, it'll be P1 all over for me again.
timmyshawn---that's a great a mount of excercise. oh, you are strong to be able to throw out sweets. I probably would've scarfed them down. good for you!
dweeb--yay for finishing up day 3!! I am on day 4 and have not been as strong as you. keep it up!!
aww..i have to go back to work now...see you gals later!!!
